    All these comments saying "my high school team could beat them"... does your high school have only 250 kids? The fact that they can field a team is impressive. The fact that they can win consistently is amazing.

    I loved this series. Been to Barrow too (now Utqiagvik, or I call it The U) it's a special place with not a lot of recreation, that blue turf is well-taken care of requiring maintenance due to being right on the windy rock beach next to the port, so playing football is a big deal because there's lots of talent in Alaska looking to get out and make a life for themselves outside of this dark cold corner up here. Also special to spend time getting to know the coach, the players, their families, and see how some people are up here. Thanks NFL Network! Please come back to Alaska.

    5:44 - That is a 15 yard penalty for kick catch interference. NFHS rule book says that the ball must go 10 yards AND be touched by a member of the receiving team, or hit the ground before it can be recovered.

    • @Mountaineer3615
      @Mountaineer3615 6 років тому

      From the NFHS Rule Book, Rule 6-1-6: " Any K player may recover a free kick if it has both touched the ground and goes beyond the plane of R's free-kick like. The two requirements may occur in any order." Is that better?

    • @1m3agle
      @1m3agle 6 років тому

      illegal touching. kick catch interference is contact with a returner b4 he has the ball

    • @Mountaineer3615
      @Mountaineer3615 6 років тому

      No the penalty is kick catch interference with first touching. The penalty is kick catch interference, The receiving team would have the choice of 15 yards and rekick or possession at the spot of first touching. Illegal touching is Rule 7-5-13 specifically deals with a pass. "An Ineligible A (offensive) player has illegally touched a forward pass if he bats, muffs, or catches a legal forward pass, unless the pass has first been touched by B."

    • @Mountaineer3615

      1. It's not a clarification, it's a rule. 2. If people don't know the rules then on Friday nights I get yelled at about "Tackle Boxes" or "Halo Rules" or "Un-catchable Passes." There are 113 rule differences between high school and college football. People know what they see on Saturday or Sunday.

      The salaries in Barrow are about three times higher than the lower 48 states. And they have a lot of oil. Also, what that documentary doesn't say is they have a lot of essentials flown in from other places. They aren't all just living off the land. But the prices for everything is much higher due to their remoteness.
