This wasn’t on my radar at all. As a large fan of stop motion/claymation, thank you for the time it took to make this video and getting more eyes on the project.
As someone who does these videos, thank you! It is always nice to hear you’ve introduced someone new to a game. A love of games is what it’s all about!
As an amateur stop motion animator myself as well as avid gamer, I can really appreciate and sympathize with the work put into this game. I just learned about it today, and it looks so so cool.
I see what you’re saying where clay models and stop motion are intrinsically linked, but for me I think the hand crafted models/environments is the biggest draw. Would love a more emulated animation though!
It’s weird, maybe because I’m not young I remember ‘Neverhood’, ‘Rampage’ and even more recently ‘Gob’ (from the haunted demo disk) having this look. Even ‘DOOM’ scanned in clay models for their sprites. It’s cool and all the anount of effort is worthwhile but nothing revolutionary.
I’ll be completely honest, of all those games I’m only familiar with Rampage and Doom. Being deeply intimate with doom, I think the difference here is Harold Halibut still looks like clay in game. I see what you’re saying. perhaps the process isn’t all that new, but the result is refreshing and very stylish to me. Regardless, thanks for stopping and talking!

There should be a setting to keep the animations locked at 15fps. The smooth motion kills the stop motion vibe.

I kinda like what they're doing. Animating on 2's is a cost saving measure. Laika's been animating on 1's for a while and their films look fantastic.
Haroldddd, so excited to play next week :))
🧿🍀👏🏼🧿🍀👏🏼🧿🍀👏🏼
I don't think many stop motion films are animated at 15fps
They have a jerky motion due to imperfection. Some even have fingerprints. I think having a bit of that might add to the charm.
