It’s obviously the design of the Tonk, personally a obvious favorite in the community Tonk is low to the ground, hits harder like my drunk uncle, and it shoots nukes
Its possible that the issue with the AI always wanting an all-arounder and "generic" tank was because the AI isn't aware of any *other* tanks under it's command. It's possible that the AI see's it as being the only tank it will have available in the war, so it needs to be decent at everything.
I noticed that when playing a dice-rolling game ChatGPT always rolls average scores of around 10. Unless you specifically say what you rolled the AI isn’t going to give you a crit-fail or a crit. The issue here is that this isn’t really an AI but instead a language model. It’s not made to make its own decisions but instead intended to more or less copy how the internet is presented to it. It does have a creative element to it but that too is trained into the model. It’s meant to be a tool that helps you get results faster than actually doing long research sessions, and even then it’s not reliable enough to truly replace research. Like, it never makes its own decisions. Every time I try to do an RP session with it I have to make my own encounters otherwise it just fast forwards me to the objective. And even if I write multiple possible scenarios and outcomes I have to specify that it should pick one of them and not just use the first one that shows up.
@@3personal5me8 It’s less actual DnD and more “Hey ChatGPT, I’ll do this thing, tell me what happened.” And it tells me what happened (except usually everything goes too optimally). The AI just keeps on not actually doing much to attack me. Still kinda fun at times tho and it does have its moments.
A bit late but its more that the AI itself is basically just a really complicated averaging machine, so its looking at a huge number of descriptions of WWII tanks (or at least, things containing similar keywords like "tank" and the dates and locations he gives, and its giving an average response, creating a very generic WWII tank with features common across multiple different models from multiple different nations, like 75mm guns. It's not smart enough to consider where this tank fits into a larger tank force, or rather, it doesn't think that way in the first place. If you wanted multiple models you could tell it something like "give me specifications for the three main types of tank a country should field", but you'd probably still get the same or similar answers every time you asked it that question.
I love the 1934-1940 tank design era because of the very distinctive charm and look to every nation’s tank designs. The Eastern Europeans liked the 7tp and T-26 look, the French liked round tanks with small turrets, big hills, and tracks that looked inflatable. The Germans went with panzer 1, 2, and 3 shape in this time, the Brit’s did what they always do: a hodgepodge of interesting designs, each made to solve a problem in exiting and creative ways. Japan was being Japan the whole war and making light tanks. The US made light tanks and wierd mediums like the M2 and the M3. Everyone was unique and fun. I don’t blame you for loving this era. It is a ball of magic and wierd tanks.
I think a good nickname for the last tank would be Zeus, Greek god of lightning usual depicted holding a thunderbolt, imo really embodies the “Mediterranean thunderbolt” nickname the AI gave originally
@@quakxy_dukx Possibly even better might be Giove (actual Italian form of Jupiter). Although considering how much Mussolini's regime liked to larp as Rome, using the original Latin could still definitely fit.

in my free time I built an unholy abomination in sprocket. The best way I know how to describe it is, a modified M4A3 Sherman hull (and mantel) with the hull MG replaced with the MG turret of the Crusader I. it uses two sets of HVSS on each track and has the side skirts of a Matilda II or a later Churchill model. its turret is a mix of a Churchill and a Cromwell with the radio box of the Firefly attached to the elongated rear of the turret. It has three options when it comes to armaments, the A1 model has a similar gun to the earlier Shermans, the A2 has a gun nearly identical to the one found on the M41 Walker Bulldog, and the A3 has a 105mm like that of the M4A3 "Sherman 105". All three of the models have a top speed of about 58 km/h (~36 mph) and at least 20 rounds of ammo stored in the back of the turret. the name of this "thing" is... the M5 'Bernard' edit: its midwar
Around the 18 minutes mark, your tank reaches 30kph on... 2nd or 3rd gear, out of the 5 it has. Maybe not faster, but you could get a lot more acceleration out of it if you make the gears shorter (sliders more to the right) This happened with my first light tank too, realized it, fixed it, and altough the top speed didnt change it was much faster to get up to it, and it used reasonable gearing when turning or going up slopes instead of slowing a bunch
Maybe it would be worthwhile asking ChatGPT for design guidelines in successive questions. That might make it possible to get more diverse design requirements., unless the text generation is too primitive. So first laying out geographic situation and year and asking whether it should be a heavy, medium or light tank. If it's a heavy for example what should be its dimensions? What about the weight? And always incorporating the previous answers. Going for a pre-1930s date might help too as would specifying a rough role like fortress buster or cavalry tank but that might take the fun out of it.
Hey ETA , couple of tips to get better speed. 1) the weight is king . I know you like all the stuff on the back to look cool but everything you put on there to "look good" adds unecessary weight. And btw the british engine decks with the long slats/louvre type things arent seperate doors , they were actually armoured cooling pipes, if you go look at the matilda 2 i think thats where they got it righr. Also look at tank like the covenator, youll read about the mistake they made of moving these armoured pipes to the front but this made the cooling really bad , they had to feed them back to the engine so long pipes on side. It failed because it didnt cool well, the side pipes were easily damaged and having your radiator on the front meant it would be hit first and so you immediately lost your engine when you got hit front on. I do like your idea of several doors for engine access , it could be a winner but maybe 2 or 3 not 6 or more 😅 also the more fittings to secure them the more weight so not the best. I also think whilst your turret looks kinda cool it is very tall , and so makes your tank easier to spot, harder to hide etc That last tank you showed with the decals what a cool looking tank! It really does look comet like and crusader like. Nice work. Anyway back to this speed. You know rivets, you should remember the reason we had to rivet was the lack of ability to weld, cheaper amd quicker to build too. But you have to start with an under frame which you rivet armoured panels ONTO. so youd see rivets when you changed an angle. Hense riveted tanks tend to be much more boxy. No unecessary angled plates and again more weight. Better to have a single panel and if getting shot wasnt an isue you could put 1 rivet in each corner of each panel. The reason they put rows of rivets was 1)so rivets could be smaller and 2) so you had redundancy, if shot it would ping off 1 or 2 rivets but the rest would keep your tank together. Once countries began to get the machinery to weld and trained workers they, instead of starting with a frame with panels bolted on , made the whole panels the actual structure. No need for the underframe. You reduced weight, actually made it stronger and much much lighter. Its very similar to the early metal skin aeroplanes. They took away the frames with canvas cover and made it stressed skin , thin metal and so created better, stronger fuselage and wings. So if you want speed. Cut down to minimum the number of pannels. Take off any unecessary fittings etc Hope this helps
Hey, i thought id try the same and ask the AI for an unique design but tried a different prompt. The AI's response was a bit more interesting this time around since it told me this: Armor: Consider a combination of sloped and thick frontal armor to enhance protection against enemy projectiles. Camouflage: Develop a camouflage pattern that suits the local environment, taking inspiration from the surrounding terrain and vegetation. I think the only thing I would have done differently is where the travel lock would have been. About a month ago, I was playing around with getting the AI to try and come up with designs for tanks and aircraft. And one of the Tanks it came up with, was a tank with 8 turrets armed with 20mm Oerlikons, and 8 crew. With one of the turrets somehow doubling as the drivers seat??? It gets nutty the less restrictions and prompting you give it.
We need a new series, one specifically for heavy tanks. And you do have to give it more specific information about what tank. If you ask it to make any tank, it will go with an all rounder good tank almost every time, and they would just be too similar.
I actually have managed to make an interwar tank go 40km/h. It didn't look anything like your one, though; It was more like one of the early british cruiser tanks, christie suspension and all. IIRC the way I did it was by making the tank weigh basically nothing, while increasing the diameter of the drive sprocket and fiddling with the gear ratios until I got something that worked. A powerful engine also helps, as long as it's not too heavy.
I want to see the AI design the most survivable tank possible with the materials available in game. It needs to house a 90mm gun (at minimum) in a fully traversable turret and make great use of sloping armor. It should incorporate spaced armor where practical and retain the smallest profile possible. It needs to be able to travel at least 50kmph on roadways. I’d love to see what designs it would come up with and how similar the designs would look to actual tank designs.
I have an idea that fits the style you like doing in sprocket, if you do sprocket again do a American or German tanket like make like a Stuart without the turret or something
Please, please make a "Chat GPT designs the Elbonian tank". See Forgotten Weapons, Drachinifel and others for their Elbonia series. This ought to be a good one. :)
idk why, but i feel like there's a general belief that all of the Italian tanks were tankettes. Italy did actually have some right and proper tanks towards the end of the war,The Semoventes are a particularly good example of this.
I think for your problem that the ai always made the same prompt you should have been like "we are planning an offensive , defensive" or something like that
the fact that when he was talking about the suspension he specified to not build a real tank with suspension like his, like someone actively building an actual tank would be watching this video lol
Always quality content ! Wouldn't mind a couple other AI-designed tanks but I understand why you don't really want that, can't wait for your future content though !
i originally was introduced to your channel, at least from what i recall, was the war thunder review video. keep up the incredible videos, also could you pretty please ask the ai to create german wonder-weapon, i wanna see what the result it
If you are at least willing to make some minor updates to this tank, might I suggest changing the name from the "Mediterranean Thunderbolt", which I agree is a bit on the nose and beating you over the head with its country of origin, and instead calling it the "Keravnós" or the "Fulmine", which are just "Thunderbolt" in Greek and Italian, respectively
Okay, you gotta make an upgraded / upscaled TKS in your next sprocket video, whenever it may be. Edit: Didn't want to add another comment, but doesn't this look like a down-scaled pershing?
5:34 agree bc when you think of a tank its something like a leopard or m1a2 but you see in wot blitz the t1 or the p.z 2 and its like what is this teeny tiny thing its so small and pretty where it came from the back story: 💀(bc its nasi tank)
Uhm during 1939 to 1941 there was t-34 medium tank in the ussr and the germans had started all ready build some tigers and vks but the italians had only mostly stolen shermans and tankettes
A good chunk of them came from the Sprocket official discord, and some came from my time being a guest judge for competitions. The contestants had to submit their decals for us to see them when we downloaded their tanks to test. And my own discords sprocket community.

Please, please make a "Chat GPT designs the Elbonian tank". See Forgotten Weapons, Drachinifel and others for their Elbonia series. This ought to be a good one. :)
I love these videos. Simply.
10/10 meme break, much appreciated!
I’m glad you made it cannon!
Battleblock theater music on-point
idk why, but i feel like there's a general belief that all of the Italian tanks were tankettes. Italy did actually have some right and proper tanks towards the end of the war,The Semoventes are a particularly good example of this.
You made an Italian M5 😧
Hey ETA, i think it would have been interesting if you made a TD, since Italy actually made a few rather good TDs during the Africa campaign.
This is actually really cool for a concept and it’d be epic if it went on for more episodes but it’s sad it’s ending
The 3th tank's tracks would be smaller and maybe a little bit short generally
a 1938 "axis" "tankette" that weighs as much as a sherman, has christie suspension, british engine deck and easter block turret design.
I think for your problem that the ai always made the same prompt you should have been like "we are planning an offensive , defensive" or something like that
WOO, YEAH BABY, THAT WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR, THATS WHAT IM ALL ABOUT
the fact that when he was talking about the suspension he specified to not build a real tank with suspension like his, like someone actively building an actual tank would be watching this video lol
gulp
I need that decal so badly for the ammo boxes
Do a Argentinean and Brasilian tank philosophy design tank Keep the good work !!!
Epic build, definitely my favorite one so far
my great grandpa drove the tks in polish army during ww2. I didn't get to meet him sadly, he was dead before i was born.
You should make a 7tp and the 10,14 as like they are already in service before the war and using chat gpt make them better than before
6:16 one might even say it looks very TKesque
More roadwheeels=less ground pressure= better handling on soft ground= good for Mediterranean climate
Is it just me or does it look like a prototype of a Pershing... 20:10
Always quality content ! Wouldn't mind a couple other AI-designed tanks but I understand why you don't really want that, can't wait for your future content though !
Hey can you show us your Foxhole Spatha? I made one myself and I'm curious how yours works/looks
I truly enjoy that you've taken the "more autism" suggestion to heart
tfw chatgpt has you design an italian m24 chaffee
Finally its out! Can't wait to watch this fr
battleblock theatre music hit different at the start
Only Eta can make a good Italian tank
Can’t believe eta leaked over watch video, this is more revolutionary than gta 6 leak
Were the weld marks on the hull plates at 25:08 decals? Cos they look amazing (and useful)
They are decals yep
i originally was introduced to your channel, at least from what i recall, was the war thunder review video. keep up the incredible videos, also could you pretty please ask the ai to create german wonder-weapon, i wanna see what the result it
Thanks for shoutout to all your Polish viewers! Dziękuję!🇵🇱
If you are at least willing to make some minor updates to this tank, might I suggest changing the name from the "Mediterranean Thunderbolt", which I agree is a bit on the nose and beating you over the head with its country of origin, and instead calling it the "Keravnós" or the "Fulmine", which are just "Thunderbolt" in Greek and Italian, respectively
it looks like a stug/stuh with an m24 turret
Okay, you gotta make an upgraded / upscaled TKS in your next sprocket video, whenever it may be.
Edit: Didn't want to add another comment, but doesn't this look like a down-scaled pershing?
5:34 agree bc when you think of a tank its something like a leopard or m1a2 but you see in wot blitz the t1 or the p.z 2
and its like what is this teeny tiny thing its so small and pretty where it came from
the back story: 💀(bc its nasi tank)
I tried this and I got a type of tank called the BAIS, it means British Armored Infantry Support tank or B.A.I.S
The cursed M3 Lee in the thumbnail.
11:01 YO I'M IN THE VIDEO!!!!!
I like the design, but the turret is a little bit too high for me.
Anyways, I loved this series, this is why I started to watch your content.
And now we wait until the internals update and you'll have to redo all of this :)
Hey Eta320, did you get your decals from a large pack or dowload? Or did you manually add the mall? Thanks, enjoyed the series!
keep up the content!
looks like a T 30-Stuart
Uhm during 1939 to 1941 there was t-34 medium tank in the ussr and the germans had started all ready build some tigers and vks but the italians had only mostly stolen shermans and tankettes
Quick question, where did you get your custom decals? I can't seem to find them online.
A good chunk of them came from the Sprocket official discord, and some came from my time being a guest judge for competitions. The contestants had to submit their decals for us to see them when we downloaded their tanks to test. And my own discords sprocket community.
yay!!!!!!!! last prompt video!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Landship? Maybe?
Both of these vehicles scare me
Could you do an video documentary (like the old school vids) about the Kangaroo APC's?
RETURN OF THE KING. The algorithm made him dead atleast for my feed
