- Inside the Luthier's Shop with BigDGuitars.com. I can't find baked maple but I did find some bakes ash. Here is a quick review of heat treated ash. A little bit lighter than regular ash
Great info, thanks again BigD !
Beautiful. Thanks so much for showing this
hey, how do you think a piece of wood of something like Western Juniper would work for making a guitar out of?
after hearing about the wood apparently being a very hard wood, i'm guessing that a guitar body would be quite heavy
fascinating! great video!
I have a custom build 7 string Tele multiscale with baked ash, and I tell you it sounds mean and clean!
I love heat treated ash. That's one of my favorites.
That's a nice looking wood. Thanks. :-)
Which wood is the one on the top of the Telly body at 2:39 ? Thanks in advance!
Alessio Bianchi its maple that I charred.
Just got a few slabs of this.....any tips on how to work with it, it seems really brittle
Where did you buy it again?
180 - 200 deg in F or C?
was that 200 degrees fahrenheit? celsius? kelvin? skobbels? a measurement of an angle?
What will happen if a made guitar neck with frets go to a process of roasting wood?
Will it ruin the guitar neck?
propably, unless it's an unfinished one piece neck.
Sounds interesting. I wonder if the moisture content goes up again once its out of the kiln though.
hardlt! it's not imervious, but barely soak up water anymore. particularly thermory (tm), which is basically deep fried.
Where do you go to get the heat treatment done?
looks beautiful, did you notice a significant weight change after heat treating?
Yizhou Jiang you never got a reply either huh
TERRY. | wood gets lighter when heat treated i believe
Nothing like a good piece of Ash.
I've been following this channel for a while and I love your insight into tone woods.
I've looked at the website but, I didn't find any way to contact you about a custom order.
Is there a contact email for you?

Ash Wood takes a great FlameBurn also etc
hell yeah! yaki sugi-ing open grained wood like ash or oak makes the grain pop most dramatically.
As u probably know LMI is now stocking baked neck wood.
Thoughts on swamp ash?
yeah, there is NO such thing. Leo Fender made it up back in the 50's so other companies couldn't find it. Ash is ash. Besides wood on electric guitars with magnetic pickups makes no contribution to the sound.
@@BlackLocustMusic swamp ash is another species also called red ash, even if it does not have an impact in sound, it weights half of regular ash, which gives plenty of advantages.
Just go to woodprix if you want to know how to make it yourself.
hola, sabes el proceso para tostar maple?
I like it unfinished
I might be wrong but I think they vacuum seal the wood with some kind of heat resistant plastic then put it a oven. I think I heard that from rob chapman but I have been know to be wrong.
Doesn't matter.
No glucose no moisture inside= insects and mold cant grow. also it is lighter because you are carrying no water. nailing it is hard ..
First
too dark
