This is pretty close to how they perform it these days in concert. And they perform it in every concert! You're correct, Kevin does a very different thing on this version than on the original. This one is pure beat boxing. The original was primarily body percussion--claps, stomps, etc. They JUST dropped a new live version of Bohemian Rhapsody this morning! From the I G post they put up about a week ago, it looks like we're going to get similar live versions of Sound of Silence, Daft Punk, and the Taylor Swift medley that they've performed in the summer concerts!

Matt graduated from Berkeley College of music with a degree in vocal performance. That’s why his pronunciations especially vowels is very traditional and healthy and round.
I've been saying that Matt has the greatest range of any member of #Pentatonix, past or present, ever since 2022, when I first heard how high he goes in "Hallelujah." But now I'm starting to wonder. I didn't know Scott could sing that low; he's really been increasing his range, at both ends. He's getting darn close to having as big a range as Matt, and Matt's range is utterly incredible. In this one performance from PTX we have ButterScott starting out, followed by a simultaneous Matt Attack and Great Scott!, the obligatory Mitch Slap, and yet another Matt Attack and Great Scott! in the wall of sound. 😍 They were always wonderful, but now they've exceeded that; words fail.
You need to check Scott covering “”I should tell ya momma on you” so you can listen to his lower register and check him with “Il Volo” singing Hallelujah to for his hight register
In regards to Matt’s voice, I believe he’s like five or six years younger than Avi. I only mention that because they say that base voices are the last to fully mature. And most basses don’t hit their peak until their early to mid 30s. I believe Matt is now in his late 20s and mastered his range and ability to color, his voice, depending on the song
The first (and so far only) time I saw PTX live was in 2018, fairly shortly after Matt joined the group. He hit that same high note when they performed this song and it blew my mind lol.

The beatboxing is different in this version. Kevin has added it to replace the stomps and body perc from the original.
Recommend their new live version of Bohemian Rhapsody.
I love them all, but Mitch IS the only one can hit every note without struggle.
Kirstin can hit high too but she obviously struggles.
