There's Bistro Filipino on Amar Rd in West Covina operated by Hera Ramos....... Weekend lunch is $18.99. Only Filipino buffet I know in San Gabriel Valley.
Steve, except for the arroz caldo and champorado (the soupy rice items), all the breakfast entrees are intended to eaten with rice, that’s why they’re slightly salty. The garlic rice enhances everything. Trust me.😊 the champorado is best with salted fried dried fish- it’s like eating chocolate with sea salt…yum!
To be fair, when I eat at a buffet, I don't get a lot of rice so that I have room to sample more of the dishes. I definitely think dishes in a buffet shouldn't be too salty to be eaten on their own.
No wonder more Filipinos are getting diabetes😅
@@powerguiller not just diabetes, also high blood, hahaha everyday fried food. lol

Bistro Filipino in West Covina has breakfast and lunch AYCE buffets as well. Also, their weekend lunch buffets have rotating items that highlight cuisines from specific provinces of the Philippines.

I recommend Tita Celia's Kare Kare, Red Ribbon's Pancit Palabok, and Goldilocks' Ukoy.
Pancit, garlic fried chicken those look so good 😍😍 but wow everything would have tasted sensational, I would be in trouble at a buffet like that
Hello, your avatar looks very classy, where are you from my friend, can I meet you?
Panorama City, my old stomping grounds. Lots of great restaurants and buffet. There's aLos a great buffet off of Van Nuys and Titus, right next to Roscoe and Van Nuys. Shout out 818!

filipinos eat everything with rice thats why our food is a little saltier since as I've said, we pair it with rice and rice balances the flavor

Is arroz caldo more famous in Filipino American? I rarely see goto o lugaw always arroz caldo. in Philippines goto o lugaw is more famous and arroz caldo is uncommon.

The rice with chocolate is called Champorado not bibingka. Bibingka is a rice cake

I'm sorry but the food selection was looking very meh
When it comes to Filipino food, there are two kinds of people:
• those who have tried it before (and then there’s really no reason to have to eat it)
• those who have never tried it (and then there’s really no reason to have to eat it) 😝😂
I mean, this is the culture that considers BALUT “food”. 🤢
🚫🥚 ❌
No-no, I apologize… just trying to be funny, not trying to hate. I absolutely love how we have so many authentic varieties of cuisine here in SoCal. I’ll try just about anything once.
Unfortunately, most Filipino food just doesn’t resonate with me. But y’know what they say, “Variety is the spice of Life - ya can’t please all of the people all of the time.” 😉
The goal of Filipino Breakfast is that it has the maximum amount of carb or energy for you to kick-start your day. Add the fact that we pair every dish we have with rice so you get the idea.

Cool
That place went downhill. The food quality and the servings are crap.Back in the days it was alot better…not anymore.
im a filipino and anchovies for breakfast is NOT typical. stop misrepresenting filipino culture on other countries!!!!!!!
Wow, what an amazing spreads. I love Filipino foods. Never get tired of eating them. Extremely flavorful. Lots of different dishes. One of my favorite is Kaldereta Kambing or Goat Stew. This dish is nothing but scrumptious. And Garlic Fried Rice. As simple as this dish is, it’s just delicious. I’ll definitely visit.

Definitely would love to go there.

Big improvement. Thanks for promoting our traditional dishes. They are really a mixture of Chinese and Hispanic(Mexican) cuisines. That Champurrado (which is a Mexican hot choco drink) I think was the origin of that chocolate porridge that we eat for breakfast when I was a kid. My grandma called it tablea without the glutinous rice. Now, chop suey is more of a Chinese variation of mixed veggies soup. That crispy fried fish is called 'galungong'. It was called a poor man's fish because low income families can afford them. But now as a joke, it is being used as a measurement of how the economy is doing. 😁
I want to try all the foods it looks yummy
Chop suey originated in the US not China more of Chinese-American but not Chinese...
Mexican? Wasn't it Spain that had influence?
@@Desolas_ you are correct. Spain had colonized the Philippines for a little over 300 years.
But Mexican foods have more influence in Cali as Spain is so far away from the mainland.
Ohh I love Filipino food breakfast buffet 😋
Try the adobo fried rice yummy

Bamboo Bistro's Longanisa and Beef Tapa with Bagoong rice would be bomb. And sinigang!
Wow I really enjoyed this video. 😋👍
Thank you for visiting that place. Whenever we’re in LA, we always wanted to go to a Filipino buffet. There’s not to many of them. We will definitely eat there!
I've been there a few years back celebrating a bday celebration. Love their food but haven't been back since. Now I'm thinking of going back and eat good Filipino food again.

It's the 19 dollar lunch buffet basically. But for that price alone is worth it.
I appreciate the interior. It looks classy.
Would do the same, pair garlic rice with the fried milkfish if there is one. Add some beef tapa, chopsuey, a piece of sweet longganisa and a few slices of lechon. The soup would always be Sinigang pork most definitely.
The arrozcaldo I would pick for breakfast. But since it is a buffet better get the most of it.
If I'm not full by that time would finish it with a small plate of pansit.
Steve, dip your anchovies in vinegar to add flavor.😋
love this restaurant. love watching your show so we can pick out good dine in. so much fun and enjoying your eating. have a great time. 😀
The fried fish is called Scad similar to mackerel. The other fried fish that is flat is called ‘Bangus’ Milkfish 🤙🏽
as for the deep-fried fish you are supposed to first eat the head (it's crunchy) then open its body and remove the bone then dip the meat into the vinegar sauce and eat it.

Nice I love going to bamboo bistro on the weekend. They have good selection for brunch
Love your video! Tocino and longanisa are permented sweet because they are a product of sugar cane producer like Pampanga where I'm from and also garlicky flavor from the North part of the Philippines. Thank you 😊
If you're here in the Philippines, you can enjoy that for just $6-$8. And it's all more authentic. 😉

Morning thank you so much for all this delicious Filipino food 😋😋😋😋❤️❤️❤️😋😋😋 ♥️♥️♥️😋😋😋♥️♥️♥️ I love all your videos on UA-cam your very professional on what you do keep doing a great job 👏
Totally disgusted by my experience and there was nothing wrong with the food.
But here it comes; we walked in at 9:45am, he told us that the breakfast buffet lasted until 11:am. How about paying for lunch buffets ,told him no thank you.
Around 10:30 am he started to take away the breakfast items and replaced them with lunch items; along with signs “lunch only”.
He then stands there guarding the food like a demented Nazi guard …as if someone would sneak lunch items onto their their plate.
Disgusting paranoia behavior.
On a side note, we came in for the breakfast buffet with diverse group and he certainly made us feel uncomfortable with his not so subtle racism toward our guests.
A less then thrilling experience was had by all.
And when we told him we found out about this place via rock star eater, no discount “. Terrible “customer service”
Not coming back to this barrio buffet ever again…Bamboo bistro do better ..and PLEASE get rid of that bald rude older man…ASAP.
🤮
the fried fish is mackarel scad. its fried crispy and you eat the crispy head and tail. you do remove the spine. typically eaten with fish sauce and chopped fresh tomatoes and rice

Man, it's been a while since I've had a good longsilog... There was an AYCE buffet I liked a lot in Eagle Rock, but it appears that it is no longer running... that said, I think people would love to see you eat at Barrio Fiesta, while not an AYCE, is very traditional and delicious.
Philipino food is only good if you are a Philipino, most expats that live in the PI, do not eat it. I tried once by going to an all Philipino food buffet in the Philipines. I took a teaspoon of each dish, I could only stomach about 4 dishes. Philipino food is the type of food that you have to grow up eating, in order to be able to eat it.

expats are used to eatng sad sad flavorless food. of course cannot appreciate nice asian breakfast foods. understandable.
I am sad to report I did not find the quality of food to be very good. The ox tail was not "fall off the bone" tender, but rather chewy. Despite the peanut butter sauce there was not a particular peanut butter taste to the ox tail. You could smell the peanut butter, but not taste it. That was verified by everyone in my party. The pig feet meat was also more on the dry side and chewy too. Fried Pork belly was crunchy as expected. Steamed fish was bland. A relatively short and small buffet layout of food compared to other asian buffets. Still worth supporting a family run restaurant. It was busy on a Saturday. But everyone in my party agreed not likely to revisit based on food quality. May return to check out their Karaoke!
Im fairly Americanized filipino with a filipino wife but we dont cook that many filipino dishes in my house as others. My wife tends to think i dont like Filipino food, but i always correct her and say "i love filipino food, but most restaurants typically suck and dont hold quality. I prefer it homemade like at filipino parties." I have yet to find a good filipino place here in the Inland Empire that consistently makes good food and doesnt go out of business. This place looks good and has been on my radar for years. After seeing this video, ill have to make a trip out there soon
i always go there onces a month is truly mouth watering 😊
Everything looks delicious!!!

We eat that fried mackarel with the sauce you ate with the other fish (milkfish/ bangus). Those fish are best paired with plain rice and any vegetable dish like pinakbet or munggo (shout out to Jo Koy! Hahaha).
One needs to be privy to the optimal mix and match sets of Filipino food to best enjoy places like these. Alone, some dishes don't really impress. But with the right combo, it shines. The anchovies for example, if you're familiar with the Indonesian Nasi Lemak, they include anchovies in rice sets. Its the same with us. I mean you can eat it with just plain rice if you want. No ones gonna scold you but its best eaten with a side salad of tomatoes, onions and green mangoes. Its the same salad that accompanies the salted eggs but I would eat that salted egg + salad with the bangus and garlic fried rice. *chef's kiss*
Another typical combo is rice, fried chicken and chopsuey. This is a very common budget meal in roadside eateries near universities in the Philippines.
