The bookstands turned out beautiful. Great choice of wood. Good video.
Just wanted to say the intro was perfect, haha. I laughed then watched a great DIY project video. Thank you :)
The intro was perfect.
New sub here. My wife just asked me last night to build her a stand to hold a big old picture that belonged to her grandmother. This design will work perfectly. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thats awesome and Thanks for the sub! If you didn't want to make the back portion out of endgrain you could also make it using face grain.
@@thewoodplank4376😢😮😢😮😮😅
Great video, and great project!
Love the “infomercial” bit and the stands are beautiful and they look like they’re earthquake proof too.
Thanks!! "having trouble cooking durning a seismic wave"........
OMG watching you put on the finish was so satisfying!
🙌
You did a great job on both pieces. I'm currently working on 2 repeat zebra wood projects to duplicate a slide out zebra wood cutting board I did 15 years ago. The top piece matches the slide out piece perfectly and sits about 2 inches high, you'd like it and the wife would really like it. I used poly on the first unit but the next 2 will have oil to match countertops in kitchen and bar according to my wifes wishes.
The wenge/zebrawood combo is outstanding. Now I feel obligated to go buy some zebrawood...
I agree they compliment each other beautifully, I don't think you can go wrong with with zebrawood. 🙌
Beautiful cookbook stand, it will be a long time before I see a better one. Cheers
Thanks Darryl! The secret ingredient is Zebrawood 🙌
Love the intro🤣 Pretty sexy stand man. Think i found todays project..!
Really would like to buy the template please let me know when they become available for purchase again
Very well done. Really a good quality video. New to your channel and glad I found it. You may have ruined my Saturday because I am sure I will spend it binge watching. Lol
Nothing quite like a bad infomercial to get things started 😁
Thanks for watching!! 🙌
Great work! Even on a small project you can never have enough clamps. I really like the zebrawood.
Thats the truth, I am always in a clamp deficit!!
😊😊
Bravo, masterpiece.
What a great idea. Well . Thanks
Glad you liked it!
Currently making this...thanks for the inspiration ✨️
Awesome! I have a template for the arched back pieces, I was going to post on my website, is that something you'd be interested in?
I am but nada on your website
Just got to see your video, and Zebrawood and wenge have been my go to favorites, along with with Paduak and purple heart. But Amazon is killing me $. Looking for a distributor, any ideas? Either way I grew up with a circle mill in the late 70's and know my way around. Your work is a great pleasure to watch.
Very nice! I started playing around with Gorilla glue when I don't need Titebond III, definitely less expensive and tires a bit darker.
Great tip! I have an abundance of titebond in the shop so its normally what I use but I like using Gorilla glue for certain projects.
@@thewoodplank4376 just to be clear I mean the Gorilla wood glue. Not that other one that foams up.
What a great idea. I would like to build one of these. I see where you had put on your website at one time. I looked and did not see it there. I would like to buy the template.
saw this in a reply.
I actually have a Template ready for the back arched piece. Let me know if your interested and I'll make it available on my website. You would be the first to have one and I'd love to get your feedback on it. $7 sound ok?
Yes I would like to buy one Please

In the video you said Tung oil was in the mixture but I don't see it linked. Did you mean Danish oil?
Thank you for showing all your beautiful projects is there anyway you can do a informational piece on where to get your wood from or where you get your wood from and do you have it shipped to you and where do you recommend to buy it from thank you very much
I like to hand pick the lumber I use so I haven't had any shipped to me, although that may be a good option. I scavenge for some on craigslist and I also have a local hardwood supplier nearby. Theres no doubt Lumber has been a little more difficult to find these days.
@@thewoodplank4376 thanks
i would really like to know what angle you used for the stand.. i just cant seem to make mine work..
Hey man,
Your Dato Joint, what was its width? 1/2, 3/4, 1”? Thanks so much brotha
Super helpful, love this video! What angle did you use for the bottom?
I can see 2.0 version of this stand sometime down the road, I am not sure off hand what the angle is but it wasn't much.
Thanks! I hand drew an angle and it ended up around 20 DEG. So I used that.
I'm a novice and took on 5 of these for Christmas lol, down to wire but hoping they'll come out nice. Your video has been a great help!
@@Mammal911 20 sounds about right, let me know how they turn out. Are you making the back section out of endgrain?
Will do! It's great to hear from you personally, appreciate it. Atm I do mostly face and edge grain stuff. I don't have a drum sander and haven't made a router sled yet. But I'd love to get into more endgrain as I sell mostly cutting boards
I don't see this on your website :( Are you still building these?
Hey boss is there any way to put the template for the back supports on the store? or for download? and these are beautiful keep it up im a new fan
I do have a templete I can post to my website , Its for the back arched piece, they sell for $7
@@thewoodplank4376 I would be interested
@@thewoodplank4376 Soon as you post it, Ill purchase it! My wife would love this project
@@thewoodplank4376 I checked your website for the template but i dont see it available anymore, do you still have it?
I love this book stand. Would make some awesome Christmas gifts. Do you have plans or templates that you sell for this design? I would love to purchase a set from you. Also it made from 4/4 or 8/4 lumber? Thank you.
Where do you get your wood?
No visible fasteners. Nice.
Do not suggest using Zebrawood for a cutting board. The fibers in the wood kick up during use unless you use it endgrain.
Thanks! Its Endgrain or bust for me.
@@thewoodplank4376 Can you take endgrain down to 1/2 inch thickness? I prefer a much lighter board. All the endgrain videos show 1 inch thick or bigger.
@@KySpur yes, I've used end grain down to 1/8" and 1/4" end grain strips.
You ought to sell the pattern to the feet/stands to these. Unless of course it’s top secret 🤐 😉
I actually have a Template ready for the back arched piece. Let me know if your interested and I'll make it available on my website. You would be the first to have one and I'd love to get your feedback on it. $7 sound ok?
@@thewoodplank4376 yes sir that would be awesome and I would greatly appreciate it. I’m going to try it out next week so I’ll for sure give you feedback on it👍
@@dainvestments6308 great, I’ll make it live on the website shortly. Thanks!!
@@thewoodplank4376 I am also very interested in template. How can I get it?
How much?
These sell for $150
Book, What that?? It’s an iPad stand, surely.
😁 I guess I am old School.
