My reply was because I want too. My day my way. Either you rejoice in my happiness or wish me well and carry on. Whew I can go on and on but I wouldn't change a thing. The only thing I never had was children. No regrets it just wasn't meant to be. Living my best life.
I got married (first and only) at 40 as well! He was 42 and it was the first marriage for us both. I met him at 38 and he 40. Thankfully, I was blessed to be surrounded with family and friends who celebrated this with me - that wonderful “you did it!” and not “you’re too old and outside the norm to celebrate”. I’m so sorry that lady is not being treated so well, and I hope she overcomes others’ limitations and like you say, Fumi, celebrates and fetes thoroughly and well. When we finally told our family, they were obviously shocked...the next question was when I'm going to get pregnant as I'm a married woman now. I had my son at 29 to their annoyance. Then they asked when I will get another one because my eggs will soon dry up! Well, I had the audacity to get my daughter at 36. There were the hints I had her too late, which was really demeaning, but we did it our way. This year we will celebrate our 29 th anniversary, our children are happy. Do it your way and don't try to conform to societies idea of what should be.

Fumi, you are indeed an inspiration to young ladies like me. I'm currently 31 and when I see my mates getting married. I feel pressured to get married. A few months ago I decided to succumb to the pressure and began dating a guy that was short tempered and controlling . Immediately I had this inkling to dump him but I was contemplating within myself that since his my last resort for now I should just manage the relationship. Hmm... Only one punch, no body told me to gain clarity and run. In the end I wished I had to followed my intuition. Bottomline is the pressure to get married is high but to be candid, it's not everyone that is married that is happy. Some married couples are suffering and lamenting bitterly in their marriages. It's always good to be patient for God time.

My husband and I have been married for nearly 47 years. Yes, we married young, and that made marriage a bit more challenging. But like you, my husband is my best friend and treats me like a queen. I adore him, and could ask for none better. His soul is so pure and honest--and he makes me laugh every day. Our loving marriage has also been a gift-by-example for our three grown children, who also have good, strong marriages. Don't loose hope everyone! I married at 35, moved to the US ,became a nurse in the US, had a son for my husband and we live beautifully and in peace. All happened in a space of less than two years. If only I knew my life would be this good, I wouldn't have shed tears and feeling destitute in my 20s when my friends were getting married, nor even consider suicide cos a man I thought I loved so much cheated and left me. fumi I'm 42 this year and as much as im in love with crisp white tops I've always envisioned myself in an antique gold wedding dress.. as an events planner who mostly do weddings I encourage my older brides with this concern to go ahead and wear white because it's all about them. I can safely say antique gold shade makes me feel beautiful and confident plus it matched my skin perfectly..

In 2023, we are still worried about what color a person is? Aunty Fumi, you are very correct. Everyone's journey is different, I'm the oldest of 4, and my two middle siblings got married and had a kid within the space of 1 year 3 months. I'm in my late 30s, and I have had days where I have doubted God's plans and wondered why it hasn't happened for me yet. But I know in my heart that I still have some work to do on myself. Soon enough, God will definitely come through 4 me, too 😊
Funniest thing is most of us will live until we are 70 or 80. So,if you if you married at 40, you literally have 30-40 years to enjoy with that lovely spouse.
Any wedding guest is there because of the generous invitation of the bride and groom, that includes family members! People need to learn their place and keep their nose out of people's marriages. It doesn't matter if you are 40, 50, 60 , 70 ... you have whatever wedding you can afford and desire. Wear whatever colour you wish, play your music loud and dance like no one is watching. We are a long time dead, enjoy life, it's not a rehersal!

Very Good segment. Well said. My life has never been in the box. When I was 30 the Lord told me he would make me laugh as Sarah Laughed. It was at that time that I understood that God's plan for my marriage would be unorthodox. I was engaged 2x and proposed to a total 3 times and although those engagements and proposals came at a time that I thought was the right time (20's & 30's) they were not the plan God had for me. God's plan for my marriage was a marriage over 50. When you are designed to live life out of the box nothing about your life with be conventional. As long as you know that you were not designed to fit within the normal scheme of this world....Then just be! Be you, unapologetically. I got married (first and only) at 40 as well! He was 42 and it was the first marriage for us both. I met him at 38 and he 40. Thankfully, I was blessed to be surrounded with family and friends who celebrated this with me - that wonderful “you did it!” and not “you’re too old and outside the norm to celebrate”. I’m so sorry that lady is not being treated so well, and I hope she overcomes others’ limitations and like you say, Fumi, celebrates and fetes thoroughly and well. And you’re right - being “fully baked” (mature) when you fall in love truly makes for an AMAZING marriage. Yes yes yes.

I got married at 24 yrs in a judge's chambers in a jacket and skirt..no one knew. When we finally told our family, they were obviously shocked...the next question was when I'm going to get pregnant as I'm a married woman now. I had my son at 29 to their annoyance. Then they asked when I will get another one because my eggs will soon dry up! Well, I had the audacity to get my daughter at 36. There were the hints I had her too late, which was really demeaning, but we did it our way. This year we will celebrate our 29 th anniversary, our children are happy. Do it your way and don't try to conform to societies idea of what should be.

Fumi, I'm 43. I've been engaged 4 times. I called it off 4 times. I knew it wasn't right. I don't want to divorce. I am still hopeful that I will find my forever happy. Fumi, you are indeed an inspiration to young ladies like me. I'm currently 31 and when I see my mates getting married. I feel pressured to get married. A few months ago I decided to succumb to the pressure and began dating a guy that was short tempered and controlling . Immediately I had this inkling to dump him but I was contemplating within myself that since his my last resort for now I should just manage the relationship. Hmm... Only one punch, no body told me to gain clarity and run. In the end I wished I had to followed my intuition. Bottomline is the pressure to get married is high but to be candid, it's not everyone that is married that is happy. Some married couples are suffering and lamenting bitterly in their marriages. It's always good to be patient for God time.

My husband and I have been married for nearly 47 years. Yes, we married young, and that made marriage a bit more challenging. But like you, my husband is my best friend and treats me like a queen. I adore him, and could ask for none better. His soul is so pure and honest--and he makes me laugh every day. Our loving marriage has also been a gift-by-example for our three grown children, who also have good, strong marriages. Don't loose hope everyone! I married at 35, moved to the US ,became a nurse in the US, had a son for my husband and we live beautifully and in peace. All happened in a space of less than two years.
If only I knew my life would be this good, I wouldn't have shed tears and feeling destitute in my 20s when my friends were getting married, nor even consider suicide cos a man I thought I loved so much cheated and left me. Oooh what can change within a year when the lord says it is time and stamps it.

fumi I'm 42 this year and as much as im in love with crisp white tops I've always envisioned myself in an antique gold wedding dress.. as an events planner who mostly do weddings I encourage my older brides with this concern to go ahead and wear white because it's all about them. I can safely say antique gold shade makes me feel beautiful and confident plus it matched my skin perfectly..
I'm 38 years of age been also told that I just need a man to have a child with that still I'm getting late to have kids but I tell them with the right time and God's timing brings everything to fall in place

I just had a conversation with a coworker about not being closed minded about dating outside of her race. I told her that the man God has for her may not necessarily be Afro-american, and that he maybe of another race.

In 2023, we are still worried about what color a person is? Aunty Fumi, you are very correct. Everyone's journey is different, I'm the oldest of 4, and my two middle siblings got married and had a kid within the space of 1 year 3 months. I'm in my late 30s, and I have had days where I have doubted God's plans and wondered why it hasn't happened for me yet. But I know in my heart that I still have some work to do on myself. Soon enough, God will definitely come through 4 me, too 😊

Funniest thing is most of us will live until we are 70 or 80. So,if you if you married at 40, you literally have 30-40 years to enjoy with that lovely spouse.

It doesn't matter if you are 40, 50, 60 , 70 ... you have whatever wedding you can afford and desire. Wear whatever colour you wish, play your music loud and dance like no one is watching. We are a long time dead, enjoy life, it's not a rehersal!

Very Good segment. Well said. My life has never been in the box. When I was 30 the Lord told me he would make me laugh as Sarah Laughed. It was at that time that I understood that God's plan for my marriage would be unorthodox. I was engaged 2x and proposed to a total 3 times and although those engagements and proposals came at a time that I thought was the right time (20's & 30's) they were not the plan God had for me. God's plan for my marriage was a marriage over 50. When you are designed to live life out of the box nothing about your life with be conventional. As long as you know that you were not designed to fit within the normal scheme of this world....Then just be! Be you, unapologetically.
