    Most tradies are quick to charge but slow to do paper work and tradesman like workmanship.
    They need stronger codes and punishments for poor quality workmanship.

    Also make sure to use some kind of weep hole, vent or rope to let any water escape that does manage to get behind the Masonry

    I know nothing about the product. My experience tells me I would have added an additional fold that allowed me to run the material up on the face of the stone shelf and allowed the material to hit the rough grade.. Let gravity do the work. Glue is awesome, but water is way more awesome, it's magical, it always finds a way in.
    I also don't like the product, it looks very thin, easy to penetrate. it might work in a controlled environment, but work sites are very busy. Shit happens.
    I'ma stick with the Grace products. it's heavy rubber. You don't have to be so concerned about punctures.We have sealed a 30 foot foundation with the stuff, no leaks. which is what is expected when you put a basketball court in a basement.

      Michael Stiller I agree the additional fold to take the sheet at least 1/2 inch down the vertical face of the ledge would be much more robust, and not rely on the r-guard as an adhesive seal. It would make that stainless foil act as a z-flash

    I thought you liked to do the bottom 24” of sheathing with treated plywood? I’m about ready to brick a new garage and followed that advice.

      David, There are many ways to build a house. I show lots of good options. This detail with PT Plywood would also work well

    My question from watching this and many other install videos of exterior wrap products, especially the joint from the footing to the bottom of the wall, is how long is it going to retain its useful properties?
    There's no question that it's going to be [far] better than having nothing there at all but how long is the adhesive going to remain malleable, how long is the metal going to remain intact and do its job?

    Hey HatMatt,
    Should one consider folding it over the concrete face as well? the idea being integrating the flahsing to the outside of the waterproofing drainage layer (dimple sheet in my case)

    Not bad but I'd prefer the extra protection of some heavier sheet metal custom bent.

    How can you tell if this flashing step was skipped? I have stone on the front of my house and every time it rains i get water trickling down my basement wall where that stone is. My neighbors on the right and left of me have the same issue as well. Is there anything that can be done to remedy this without having to hire someone to take the stone off and do it correctly if that's the case? Our house is only 3 years old. We are the second owners. Is there any legal action we can take if the contractor did it wrong....or i guess in this case....didn't do it at all?

    Why don’t you use the Carlisle thru wall flashing anymore? Did you have issues with it adhering to the concrete long term?

    Do you have a video/suggestion of how to add brick siding to a house without a brick ledge?

  • @TP-xc9mc

    Hi can you tell me how to remove limestone ledge? from under Windows that go all the way around the house. We have aluminum siding and have the Windows then under the Windows is a limestone ledge then under that is brick wall.
    Any tips tricks or certain tools to use any videos on this you could recommend. Thank you. We want to remove the limestone ledge but be able to put them back on after insulation is put in the walls of the house.

    Looks pretty easy to work with for stainless - very flexible! How puncture resistant the backing Matt?

    • @TheBshackelford1
      @TheBshackelford1 6 років тому

      I believe he's using the York self-adhesive SS flashing that has a puncture resistance of 2500 psi as opposed to 40 psi for regular 40-mil rubberized-asphalt peel-and-stick.

    Does anyone know why some builders stick black plastic poly behind the sheathing at the base wall ? Is that suppose to prevent anything ? I feel like it does more bad than good.

    • @travis7694
      @travis7694 2 роки тому

      That's also a through-wall flashing, pretty common on speculative builds, cheaper alternative to what Matt is showing us, obviously that 6mil poly flashing isn't as durable, plus I feel like poly in a build no matter where it's at seems to make people rip/pull & tear seams and corners, ruining your flashing/barrier detail.
      Something like this compared to the poly flashing would probably influence a better job, more attention to detail for the guys flashing & the masons...plus it just looks different, and more expensive lol maybe they'd take that extra step to not destroy it

  • @khufu8699
    @khufu8699 3 роки тому

    imo, to complex. You have like 4-5 different products and applications going on. Just use polywall system. Get everything done same way.

      Вполне вероятно что поверх пленки они набьют обрешетку и сделают вентфасад. Одно другому не мешает.
