Listen. Snyder’s Justice League was a bit clunky, but it was head and shoulders better than anything the DCEU has put out, Justice League included. It had a mood. It had a vision. It had plenty of thread to attach to other story lines. The performances were decent. The soundtrack was better.
I think that was the most genius thing about the trailer. Who would expect a broccoli hair dork to just lick his hair back and become the most powerful being on the planet?
It sad but true. Espescially the when they turn established characters and than forced them to be gay or bi part of the alphabet community. Even though it makes no sense with everything we know of the characters. Never forgive them for what they did to dc, marvel and especially in rwby. Pray for a reboot
Die hards who grew up with Superman mostly love this depiction. The best comment I heard is the previous movies showed superheroes existing in our world. This movie suggests we go to their world. It is meant to be fantasy after all
Somehow, Zack Snyder fans think they're the true Superman fans. 😂 Why would anyone who grew up watching Superman want everything to be so dark and gritty from start to finish? Thank God for James Gunn. He understands the assignment.
I'm old-school Reeves Superman. My biggest issue with the Cavill versions was that his character was written as a moody, brooding, borderline whiner. Superman is always knowing the morally correct thing to do. If this superman can do that, I might be able to overlook the complete JV squad muscle-tone and hand-me-down fitting suit.
It reminded me of any current manipulative trailer for a movie that's based on a beloved franchise with a famous score/song. It's just there for "the feels" and to make it look epic, even if it doesn't fit at all (they've even done it for Ghostbusters, with the slow piano rendition of the Ray Parker pop song).
Why? He’s in his 40s. At some point you need to pass on the character to a younger actor if you want Supes/Clark to look believably young when he’s first starting out as Superman. Also Cavil would be super expensive to contract which would just raise the budget even more. I frankly never understood the hype behind Cavil.
First thing I liked about the trailer was that the Snyder's "depression filter" was disabled in this one. Very colorful film indeed. Oh, and the Kripto thing makes me think that Gunn is going for a "golden era" Superman and Superfriends vibe. Gotta say, I liked the idea.
I thought I was alone, but when Supes whistles I immediately thought KRYPTO!!!! And I am totally stoked that it was. I dunno, I just really like the idea.
I'm just tired of it always being Lex as the villian. Lex or Zod every time. Give me Doomsday; Give me Darkseid, Give me Brainiac. Just give me something different
Watching the old black and white George Reeve Superman - there wasn't any crazy enemies that future comics kept creating to spark interest. Just a man that could do what others could not to solve the problems men with evil intent created. I'm done with the earth being saved for the 1, 296th time.
@@martwyzlybrzydkiCritical Drinker has come this far because of his constant nitpicking. Even though the trailer is very good, he has to appease half of his fanbase filled with salty teenagers looking for something to hate.
I think he just hit the nail on the head with this movie, it's safe, which is what Superman is supposed to be. He's meant to be white bread in DC, and that's what this trailer feels like. Camp enough to be a Superman movie while being safe enough to make you feel like you're back in front of the TV under a blanket with a bowl of cereal on a Saturday morning. Even the suit feels like a Saturday morning suit, could be a early rendition of Superman, somewhere between year 1.5 to 3.
It's amazing to me how different most people feel after watching this trailer. It's almost like we're all watching a different trailer. I think the character of Superman is deeply personal for a lot of people and as a result of that we see the trailer through the lens of our own personal view of the character. I for one have been a Superman die hard my whole life and this trailer almost brought me to tears. Everything from the epic 80s inspired electric guitar John Williams theme to crypto showing up and Superman diving into save the little girl got me so pumped! I'm tired of superhero movies trying to make themselves seem plausible. Comic book movies should unapologetically put the page to screen. I don't want my heroes to be transported into my world, I want to be transported into theirs!
I too love Superman. But this is still a Hollywood film at the end of the day, which you people seem to be forgetting. Tons of cooks in the kitchen with conflicting beliefs and motivations, often which do not align with representing the character as justly as possible. Not to mention the level of corruption and number of terrible people working on this film. You think Gunn understands Superman on a profound level? No, dude is another Hollywood creep himself, he literally lacks the soul to understand the character on a deep level because he lacks the humanity needed.
I'm glad at least some people are enjoying it. I am a comic movie skeptic (cynic? Is that too harsh?) and I really don't like most superhero movies. But if this teaser is an accurate representation of the flavor of the actual film, I will be very happy. And Krypto? I love it. Comics are absurd by their nature, so why not have fun with it?
2:45 NO WAY! The score is amazing. They took the real one and changed it a bit. Otherwise the reinvent something that isn't broken and try and shove in some new nonsense
I love how the first time we get a Green Lantern next to the other major characters in live action (we don’t talk about that Justice League attempt a few decades ago) is Guy Gardner, not Hal Jordan 😂 and it was almost John Stewart, lest we forget
Gunn trolling.. Fillion would've been an amazing Hal, but instead he gives us Guy Gardner. Yet another reason why Gunn is overrated and this movie will fail.
Your flavour of diplomacy pleases me. I rolled my eyes through dog issues of Superman right through the 70s. The teaser is a rollercoaster, veering between nods and facepalms. Reserving judgement is one thing, but there are too many facepalms.
5:02 “But what he does falls in a very specific niche like Guardians of the Galaxy and… uhhhhhhhh…” Yeah exactly. You hear that DC and Warner Bros?! No matter how hard you try, you’ll never convince us the SS are the Guardians of the Galaxy. Nobody’s gonna buy it anymore.
They've replaced, in a bad way, a wildly popular and established Henry Cavill to do a new Superman movie at a time when superhero movies are struggling. Gunn isn't the most popular Director either. Do these executives genuinely know or care about what they're doing?
Cavill is now doing what he loves, making a warhammer 40k show, and Gunn is so much better than Snyder that the movie can't help but be better than any of the MoS era dogshit.
DC was at its lowest when Henry Cavill was Superman, they even marketed him for black Adam and it flopped, his Superman is not as loved as you think. His version is the reason some people think Superman is boring right now.
Based on the trailer yeah it looks like everyone involved knows what they're doing. It looks fantastic. Gunn is one of the most popular directors on the planet right now objectively. It's funny I literally haven't heard any valid criticism in this video or in the comments, just a bunch of whining. What community did I stumble into lol?
I'm cautiously optimistic, it's time to make Superman great again! he is HOPE in it's purest forms and quite honestly the most human superhero out there.
Imagine if they somehow manage to bring back Cavill for a Superman Red Son spin-off or an Injustice spinoff just to have him fight this new guy in a sequel.
I remember the shock and brutal realization of Christopher Reeve in Superman II when he chose to become human and bled his own blood for the first time after a fight. Truly gripping cinema. Now he's bleeding in the first teaser and getting dragged through the snow by Super Dog lol.. I'm sure I'll watch it eventually.
I can imagine the memes: 2013 - Superman single-handedly defeats Zod and his soldiers. 2025 - a beaten Superman is carried away by his dog, cartoonishly.
Nah, what's really going on is that there were a lot of people who wanted to confirm the narrative that James Gunn's DCU will fail. So when they didn't get something they could complain about, they act indifferent.
Just finished watching Nerdrotic’s take on this trailer and now I see this. Aside from that, as much as I enjoy Superman I don’t think this will help Hollyweird the way they think it will. Too many failures as we’ve seen.
Hollyweird still doesn't get that it's not normal. Until its bubble bursts, they will continue to disappoint audiences and wonder why they're losing money.
You guys are already hating when it looks better than everything we’ve gotten from Marvel and DC minus The Batman in the last 7 years Lmao it doesn’t matter though, because the trailer already has 1 million likes and counting
Success of the movie depends on the Henry Cavill sentiment. Would you support legally another superman movie if Christopher Reeves was done dirty? Cavill respected the fans that he left the Witcher for it.
Tyler Hoechlin is the goat; this is what this movie will be compared to for real Superman goers and if you've not watched the show I suggest doing so; Tylers mannerism is Superman and Clark Kent.

The trailer gave me Spiderman 3 vibes. The amount of characters shown either means we're getting another dose of underdeveloped characters or the length of the film would have to rival that of the Irishman at a 4 hour runtime.
Don't forget on top of the numerous characters shown in the trailer, supergirl is also going to be in this movie. I think it's reasonable to be concerned this is going to be a clusterfuck.

I wasn't impressed with this trailer. It didn't move me like when I saw the Man of Steel one. Plus, I did not want to see a super dog with a cape even if its canon in the comics. It should've stayed there, IMO
My initial complaint is the casting of Lois Lane. She's supposed to be beautiful enough that by comparison she's out of Clarks league but as Superman they match.
Rachel is much better looking than Margot Kidder and on par with the others I’ve seen. She also has some of the best tits in Hollywood though we obviously won’t get to see those here.

I like the whole reverse kingdom come angle they’re going with. A world of superheroes who aren’t true heroes, only for Superman to come around and re-establish what it truly means to be a symbol of hope/ justice.
I think the Superman trailer looks campy, and James Gunn made it that way on purpose. It looks refreshing, separate from the Marvel quippiness and DC's overwhelmingly trying to be edgy. You're right it looks safe, and eager to please. But I'll gladly take that any day over the slop we've been getting. The trailer was refreshing and a breath of fresh air. Never change, Drinker
Listen. Snyder’s Justice League was a bit clunky, but it was head and shoulders better than anything the DCEU has put out, Justice League included. It had a mood. It had a vision. It had plenty of thread to attach to other story lines. The performances were decent. The soundtrack was better.
Clark Kent with Gen Z broccoli hair.
I think that was the most genius thing about the trailer. Who would expect a broccoli hair dork to just lick his hair back and become the most powerful being on the planet?
If Gunn wanted to avoid comedy, he failed.
That's literally what he looks like in the comics as clark
They could have always given him that Killmonger McDonald's Medium Fries hair.
Yeah. Count your blessings.
Why is it every damn kid between 15 and 25 has that ridiculous haircut, literally every kid. Christ even my curtains in the 90s looked better!
"...where functional heterosexual relationships are rarer than female apologies"

It sad but true. Espescially the when they turn established characters and than forced them to be gay or bi part of the alphabet community. Even though it makes no sense with everything we know of the characters. Never forgive them for what they did to dc, marvel and especially in rwby. Pray for a reboot
Is nobody gonna point out green lantern's hair!? What in the actual fook!? 🔵✨💨
Looks terrible
It’s Guy Gardner. Look it up, he has a bowl cut in the comics.
it's the Guy Gardner version
Why would they point it out if it looks exactly like Guy Gardner from the comics?
that’s what his hair looks like, it’s Guy Gardner. he’s a brash dumb asshole who looks like a three stooges character.
Die hards who grew up with Superman mostly love this depiction. The best comment I heard is the previous movies showed superheroes existing in our world. This movie suggests we go to their world. It is meant to be fantasy after all
So true, Batman is in our world, Superman inspires us to his.
Somehow, Zack Snyder fans think they're the true Superman fans. 😂
Why would anyone who grew up watching Superman want everything to be so dark and gritty from start to finish?
Thank God for James Gunn. He understands the assignment.
Yeah, it's not inspired dread in me. I'll take that these days. 👍🏼
Yeah it literally looks just like a comic world I really love it.
The guitar solo only reminded me of TG Maverick
100%. A little too "Top Gun"
Some other UA-camr said they’re also using drones to give it a “Top Gun feel”
It reminded me of any current manipulative trailer for a movie that's based on a beloved franchise with a famous score/song. It's just there for "the feels" and to make it look epic, even if it doesn't fit at all (they've even done it for Ghostbusters, with the slow piano rendition of the Ray Parker pop song).
@ 🤣
And I love that soundtrack so hopefully it gets put to good use.
Shoulda been Cavill
Superman never had to be so big and fantastical. Make him save people and show him being a good person and fans will love that.
I love the trailer, I never expected I would be so hyped for one movie, esp. a superhero movie.
I'm just tired of it always being Lex as the villian. Lex or Zod every time. Give me Doomsday; Give me Darkseid, Give me Brainiac. Just give me something different
The Toyman
Give us Lobo
Brainiac would be a great one. The DCU Doomsday was just a ridiculous joke.

So we are in denial the theme is from the 80's? Okay then . . . .

@@Enigma75614which is the Whedon superman. I thought it was good, better than Snyders.
The Kirk video brought tears to my eyes. This? Nope.
Well said. I too enjoyed this trailer and can’t wait to see it when it comes out

Guy looks so punchable. It's perfect 😂
I love how the first time we get a Green Lantern next to the other major characters in live action (we don’t talk about that Justice League attempt a few decades ago) is Guy Gardner, not Hal Jordan 😂
and it was almost John Stewart, lest we forget

Exactly.
Being fairly familiar with James Gunn's movie history and humour... Krypto is going to end up pissing on the villian at some point.. isnt he?....
@@marinesinspace6253- Set expectations low enough, I guess.
These are children that grew up bathing with Mr. Bubble.
I don't understand the negativity. I'm 45 years old and this is the first trailer in a decade that made me consider watching a super hero movie again.
With so many characters and other super heroes…its not a superman movie.
These people are negative about everything that doesn’t fit a specific idea they have in their head, I wouldn’t judge anything by their reaction.
Spot on Drinker! Electric guitar of a John Williams score is criminal...
I'm cautiously optimistic, it's time to make Superman great again! he is HOPE in it's purest forms and quite honestly the most human superhero out there.
I swear to god if they do an "Evil superman" twist again I will lose it please just let my boy be the hero ffs
I think your safe. Krypto never exists in the evil version stories
Imagine if they somehow manage to bring back Cavill for a Superman Red Son spin-off or an Injustice spinoff just to have him fight this new guy in a sequel.
Trust me this cartoon looking dogshit will be one megaflop so all good
I remember the shock and brutal realization of Christopher Reeve in Superman II when he chose to become human and bled his own blood for the first time after a fight. Truly gripping cinema. Now he's bleeding in the first teaser and getting dragged through the snow by Super Dog lol.. I'm sure I'll watch it eventually.
I can imagine the memes:
2013 - Superman single-handedly defeats Zod and his soldiers.
2025 - a beaten Superman is carried away by his dog, cartoonishly.

To be honest I'm just amazed he's White!!!
James Gunn can handle the heartfelt and a simple good hero. It’s the presence of Tom King that should give us serious pause.
I find it odd so many see Gunn as their spirit animal.
At least they have most worn about superhero trope in this movie. A SKY BEAM!
Henry Cavill was born to be Superman. Such a shame he never really got to fulfill his potential
Your description of DC showing up late to the party and trying to fast track everything to catch up was 100% spot on.

Guy Gardner is a really interesting choice to shoehorn into a Superman movie.
The average viewer will never know what favors must be returned and what shape they'll take when Hollywood is involved. Makes government look pristine.
Don’t assume it’s shoehorned. Afterall, he does have more to his story. Especially in the lantern show.

IDK about bad, I thought the Top Gun riff was great for the moment in that movie, but not for Superman.

The trailer gave me Spiderman 3 vibes. The amount of characters shown either means we're getting another dose of underdeveloped characters or the length of the film would have to rival that of the Irishman at a 4 hour runtime.
Funny, when I saw Green Lantern, my mind immediately went, "3 hour movie"
Don't forget on top of the numerous characters shown in the trailer, supergirl is also going to be in this movie. I think it's reasonable to be concerned this is going to be a clusterfuck.
