"Camera Crew is the best in the industry". No truer words were ever spoken. ✈️
Thanks JACK!
She is good. Would love an introduction of Megan all I know is she has great nails and a cool personality 😎
Hey Brian, We bought this plane around December of last year and have had very few flights on it compared to other planes. Have you had issues with the hinges on yours? We are having stress fractures in the pinched hinges and the quality of this plane is very low for an average eflite airframe.. Thanks Brian
just cover up the blue paint on the wings with solid red - you will have a beautiful red/white/blue plane with good visibility.
The plane will slow down more than you think for landings.
We have a 400 ft strip and I saw it land WITHOUT FLAPS and only use 1/2 runway.
Compared to a pylon racer or jet I think this plane is quiet.
It is heavy because of all the reinforcement built into the plane to handle the extreme
G forces in turns at high speed. As you see in the video, all that weight does not keep the plane from gliding well.
Yep...but gotta have a nice calm day to see it in all it's true colors. We've been scraping the bottom of the barrel for flight footage worthy days of weather lately. This is TYPICAL for fall here. We have such good protection from the wind in our little acreage, but when the leaves go, and with trade-winds shifting with the seasons, we almost always have weirdly windy weather this time of year...and we're up against stupidity from daylight "savings" time ;(
For those of us who are visually impaired, that is a gnat on the screen. I got to give props to the camera crew! I don’t know how she does it.
She is magical ;)
Thank you for making in-depth video! It helped me with programming my V1200. Thanks also to to patience of the camera crew :)
We're both lucky she helps ;) Glad we could help you get it setup!!!
So glad you were finally able to get this from HH and review it!
Me too!!!
camera crew: "I can't see anything"?!?!
Brian: "It's ok!..."🤣
LOL - yep!
LOVE it, Just Love it !!! Thanks again Brian for a great video Brian. Thanks also camera crew....
Glad you enjoyed it Thanks Johnny!
Ok V1200 is ready for maiden. I set up exactly per Manuel. Questions on Safe Select. I did assign a switch for it. While flying in Safe do I worry about dual rates or does Safe dictate your rate? I’m not advanced like you so maybe I’ll fly in Safe at first. I’m using 4s 4000mah at first. That’s what I have. I’ll be getting smart batteries soon. Should I maybe go up to say 7000mah for more flight time? If I stay with 4s? You’ve been a great help to me. Thanks Brian. Rick.
SAFE doesn't deactivate any DR/Expo, and you don't want to do this either - it won't hurt. You will want to setup the flaps like I did on the "Second Thoughts" video. It's a big improvement from the "By the book" setup...trust me!!!
I can say I've never flown it on 4S, so just make sure you check the CG. You plane will be way easier on your gear with a smaller pack, so that's nice, but you will be plenty fast for a potential change of shorts, so good luck!!! Make sure you have LOTS OF ROOM!!!!!!!!!!! You will NEED it!
GOOD LUCK!
Nice flying. Favourite bit - 'Look at that thing'. Audience could not see it anywhere, but that's fast blue planes for you. My personal nightmare.
LOL - EXACTLY!!!! What I should have said was "Where is that thing" - famous last words ;) LOL
@@BrianPhillipsRC You two are doing a grand job. I wish I had your driveway too!
I just had a lightbulb moment - this setup in my FMS PC-21!! I have no choice now I have to do it
I understand HH used lightweight retracts in the V1200. At :35 sec mark I see your gear doesn't close so I guess that confirms the point. HH for the $$$ why don't you use something that can handle a 9lbs plane???
The retracts are just fine if you aren't trying to plop it down on a short strip...I have to do everything the HARD way ;) As for the gear, sure, they're not as robust as they could be, but why waste the weight on the retracts, especially since the wing is so thin....not much room for bigger, unless you bring them way inboard, then you're landings a tipsy "spitfire" - no fun ;)
You got the V1200 too congratulations you gonna love it. It’s fast 140mph I just got mines 2 weeks ago I flew mines I put a GPS speed on mines I clocked it up at 154mph
That's CRAZY! I need to stick a GPS in mine too. Great idea!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC yes sir. v1200 rules.
Awesome 👍. That thing is sick.
Thanks I’m going to try now. And thanks for DR/Expo video
Very helpful
Awesome! Glad it helped. It's a tough concept, but you will start to understand more as you get to playing with it more.
Hi Ya Brian and Camera Crew . Thanks for your video's . I fly the Extra 300 , V 900 and just got the v 1200 . I see one of the wheels on landing gear is not flush with the bottom of the wing surface . Its still in wrapper thinking to bring it back to store ? Other wheel is flush with wing and a small gap all the way around landing gear . Any thoughts ?
Good question. I'd be testing it with a an XBC100 or a RX and see if they work. Maybe it got unplugged before fully seating?
Tough call without seeing it, but I'd take care - it's NOT a cheap plane, and it's SOOOOO much more crazy than your other two planes. The P-factor might cause you to need a change of drawers - LOL
At 1:17.00 you talk about resolving the trim issue on elevator then you got sidetracked on setting up safe select assignment. How did you center elevator so not to need a lot of trim?
Last question does Safe Select work just it does in beginner mode on my Super S2 cub?
@ 1:17:00 - I mechanically trim the elevator so that it's smooth from the top of the surface of the horizontal stabilizer to the top of the surface of the elevator, and likewise on the bottom. This prevents me having to "waste" trim to get to 0% (centered). When you use trim to fix these issues, you'll have less trim to use when you're in flight. You want to give yourself every advantage when you're up in the air, this is one way to stack the deck for yourself ;) I think I got back to this later in the video, but I'll leave that to you.
As for SAFE vs SAFE Select...
So the Sport Cub S2 has "FULL" SAFE, while the V1200 has SAFE Select.
No, SAFE Select is not "FULL" SAFE. Full SAFE has Beginner (Auto Leveling and Limited Bank Angles + AS3X), Intermediate (Less limits or no limits on bank angles with auto leveling + AS3X), and Expert (AS3X only)....whereas SAFE Select is basically FULL "Beginner" Mode and AS3X only.
I see what you did in flap settings. Is that all? I don’t need to do any mixing with elevator. I saw new video where guy mixed in 30% down elevator with flaps on landing. What do you think of that?
I just did what you see in the FLAP MENU. That's what you do... then make sure she doesn't balloon like before when you deploy the flaps, and you're golden...
Loved my v900 belly landing has been great. Considering this one. How much harder it is to land is my concern?
I have the V-1200 and I’ll be honest. I would not have the guts to fly it there just because of how hot it comes in for landing even with full flaps. I wonder if setting up reversing would help? 🤔
It would, but not sure the ESC was able to do it on the V1200 since it was earlier firmware.
I’m going to be using 4s batteries. I don’t have your net worth. Is the finger balance accurate? I thought with your resources you’d have some fancy balance stand.
4S will be fast still, so don't let that fool you!!!! 6S is INSANITY!
Finger balancing is just fine. Gravity doesn't discriminate - LOL
V1200 all the way baby. You see how fast it climbs. You heard that whizzle kick in it sounds like a jet. I just put 8 flights on mines
You lucky dog!!! I wish I could get 3 flights, let alone 8 ;)
4:58 you can have braking on the ESC. You need the box to update the ESC or just to program it, though you could program it with throttle stick. Once you update it, you can actually program the ESC straight from the transmitter. Smart ESCs can have the brake type as normal, off, reversing, or proportional, up to brake force 7
Yep, but not sure if actually want it. I might program some REVERSE thrust for slowing down this BEAST!!!
I am using Futaba radio with 7CH FASST Rx. Do you have any idea if PNP version is compatible with Futaba or could it be controlled only with Spektrum? Thanks
The PNF will run on any rx of your choice...but the ECS might not offer full telemetry as with Spektrum.
You can use.ball link pliers for the elevator centering adjustment.I used ball link pliers when I had my R/C helicopter. It makes the job some much easier.
Sure can, thanks!
just ordered this plane and a 6S to learn to fly on, as I 've never flown an RC plane before, but it seems like it would make a good trainer.........I am going to maiden it from my driveway, which is much shorter than yours and surrounded by trees.........wish me luck here in the windy city .....
Gary, funny joke, but if you're not joking...
This will be a TERRIBLE TRAINER! PLEASE DON'T! I'm totally not being cute here. You'll have a very short lived, and expensive plane and battery in pieces! Gary - take my word for it., not trying to discourage you, but I don't want you to be a "one and done" RC pilot!
PLEASE - pretty please, get one of these (Below) and fly the crap out of it before you think about taking up this V1200 - it's a challenge for me!

You just walk out the door of your home and let your planes fly. Just great! I'll get the V1200 next!
yes, and we love it here!
Watched the whole video. Saw that at Hobbytown today. Don’t think it going to be adding to my hanger soon but it is cool. My local club only has a grass field. I also fly by my house but they are building houses a a very fast.
True. Get the V900 - way better on grass ;) Still SUPER fun!
What a fantastic kit
It's a great plane!
Thanks so much Brian. So in V1200 when I have Safe Select on will it protect me from rolling over? Does it just allow me to fly mostly level?
It will limit your pitch and roll angles, and when you let go of the sticks it will fly straight and level into the nearest obstacle at 150 mph - LOL. I would say the SAFE Select on this plane is more to help if you would happen to loose orientation while flying it; it gets to being quite the SPECK when it's out hundreds and hundreds of feet from you, so it is not impossible to have this happen. With experience, this gets better, but it's still very scary, especially with a FAST plane.
Which plane do you prefer to fly between this one and the June Nite?
June Nite. Way more enjoyable, but this V1200 is something cool to see for sure!
I have the Gen3 DX6 and I set up voice telemetry as well as alarm for lipo battery level for my Apprentice STS. But it’s very distracting so I tried to turn it off, but it won’t. Is this b/c once telemetry's configured with a plane, it will stay forever with the transmitter? How do I turn off telemetry?
I want to know too ;) I've tried to turn off some of these features to no avail...but others I've tried to turn ON to no avail ;( BUT I still love my Spektrum Transmitters, so I don't want to complain too much!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Go into telemetry then settings the priority monitor click and select inhibit. this should disable it you can also go into each slot with telemetry in it and select it , and inhibit all alarms and notifications. Also, go into each setting and select the lowest voltage.
I got the V900 and love it.I just wanted to see the details of the V1200.Its kind of expensive from me right now.As for building time all these planes there is.no real building time involved. In my day it would take months to build a plane. The kits are a box of balsa and a set of rolled plans.
It is very cool, but if you have the V900 and are happy with it...just keep that one in the first and foremost. The V1200 is good, but suffers from some issues the V900 doesn't have....namely, the retracts require greasy landings every time, 100% of the time, FYI...this is a non-starter for some.
Hello Brian and Mrs Megan aka camera crew. Almost missed this video still not getting notification of video releases. Done the bell thing and still not getting notification. Thats fine ill always keep checking for videos. Maybe im late watching but always will be watching for more. Thanks for the video keep flying you guys.
I'm sorry, and glad you're telling me, but not sure what to do???
Digging the style of your videos. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do!
Wow, thank you guys.
Any time!
This NX6 looks awesome!
So far, it's been as though I were using the DX18...which is EXACTLY why I love it!!!
What about the retract? It’s stuck down. Quit working after one rough landing. What’s my option? I don’t even see how to change it.
If it's STUCK DOWN, you can probably get it to work by pressing it HARD DOWN while cycling it. I bet it'll work. When you get it out, straighten it and you'll be golden, If you DID break it, take it out and disassemble it and fix it ;)
I've been skeptical of that color scheme from day 1. Not sure what horizon was thinking Brian have you flown the v900? Is the V 1200 about the same or easier or harder to fly? Sorry if you talked about this and I missed it. Thanks great video!!
Was thinking the same if it had the same colour scheme as the v900 it would be easier to see. It should be like the v900 just a bit faster think I will stick with the v900 myself ✈
No, sorry haven't flown the V900....but I know that the V900 has an orange livery, which would make it so much easier to see, and I think the 120 mph+ Speed might be more fitting, while still CRAZY for our flying area ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC the v900 is awesome and the orange is a great choice as it gets small fast. I have a v1200 still in the box but haven't been brave enough to fly it yet. Luckily I have a 300 acre open field with a 1/2 mile lane for landing 🤣. I was really hoping the flaps on the v1200 would help slow it down a little more but doesn't look like it. :(
Such a beautiful plane and I haven't even seen the video yet! How can you Not love it?
If you've flown it's little sister, you'll probably love it more ;) Just saying...
V900 bit.ly/3IRl0UG - Way better for the application, in our experience.
V1200 bit.ly/3B5NKag - Great plane, landing gear are not forgiving, and this will NEEEEED thrust reverse to not roll out 2-3 miles (maybe a SLIGHT exaggeration - LOL)
I’m playing with NX6 now trying to learn the magnitudes of features. I did set voice controls as high as it would go 100. It still doesn’t seem very loud. When your flying can you here voice like for battery voltage?
yes, but you have to set that up in the function menu. It's easy, but you gotta be attached to the plane so the telemetry data can pass back and forth.
Awesome plane, needs a better paint scheme. Brian have you thought about thinning out the tree line down by your landscape trailer and also on the right side of your driveway at the front of your property? Would make for a better approach with the larger and faster aircraft.
I don't own the treeline past the trailer. The other side has power lines ;( However, you may not realize, but we are flying on the front 3 or so acres, but we own almost 10.5 acres ;) I have another air field that will be suitable for full scale aircraft, if I have my way in my long term plans :)
No way your flying that speed demon in the front air field. love the laugh of confidence :)
Everyone lived ;) I call it a vicotory.
Great looking but it really disappeared with a blue sky. Do they make it in red?
Nope, just this color, but I thought if I were to have filmed with CLOUDS, it would have been a lot better. Sorry about our very limited choice of weather. This is the curse of being in the northern climates... :(
Thank you Brian glad your keeping camera crew safe. 👌😁 Again , I really enjoyed this review ,and spending time with
you both on another very good an informative relaxed detailed look at the V-1200.Which I have just purchased.
Very helpful. 🧐
Jeff. ( Stafford) …. U k .
I'm glad you did! Be nice on the gear, and let her settle down on a 3-4 mile long runway - LOL ;) I was REALLY pushing it on our runway!
Such an experience!!! 140mph is insane fast. Do your maiden in good lighting too ;) You'll love it!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC thanks Brian .
Taken your advice on board 😎👌
have you tried hand launching and belly landing this plane ? like the v900?
I'm new to the hobby. Should this be my first plane? 😊
LOL - no......and YES, I know you're screwing with me Bill K
Foam is the new "gold" standard in RC for manufactures and blue used as a solid color like on a tail has always been a no-no worse than black but sure is pretty... really like to see blow molded parts adding durability and keeping the model attractive like Volantex's fuselages and the decades old Big Wing's leading edge adding some silver to the standard. I'm expecting to see some type of vacuum applied foam covering developed in the near future with high tensile strength and heat resistance that allows heat applied to remove dents in the foam. I found some types of foam allow Toluene solvent to be applied to a deep dent and apply heat producing (REALLY) rapid cell expansion but look out as it requires far less heat than normal and is a bit of an art to know after evaporation (with ventilation!) when to apply heat and how hot as foams very. Done correctly you can get the foam back to it's original appearance avoiding surface cell bumps.
COOL! Can't wait to see a blow mold injection model. The wings would be so SOLID, and firm, but they could make them super light too, and FAST production times at a low price.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Yes that what I was thinking... our nice looking foam models are a lot like surfboards without the glass job. As you pointed out I save all the clear sticker covering from the sticker sheets too for use on small areas because it's better than normal tape for some use but none of it is using micro Kevlar fiber strands that can be applied on the sticky side which when done to plastic tape for a leading edge testing shows a hard strike on the edge of glass table using soft Styrofoam that creates a deep cut or disintegration becomes a minor indentation (not a dent) that heat removes easily as the Kevlar doesn't (noticeably) stretch. If I had time to get it started I'd hit up some company like 3M with the marketing data that has the resources and knowhow to develop it without stepping on its own profit margins. Good review BTW... had my eye on this but where I fly the landing gear wouldn't work out with wheels that small.
Beautiful plane! I like the blue. Why did camera crew have to hate on the blue? And that dark grey on the underwing. It’s beautiful.
We both had a very hard time seeing it. If we would have filmed on a cloudy day, I think we would have been better off.
@@BrianPhillipsRC okay I was just thinking that’s a nice blue and finally no orange but that’s makes sense. Same problem with the f-15 64mm. Amazing fun little jet but that color blends man
that piece of tape you put on the cockpit is what's making the noize
Nope
Not impossible, but I think now it might be a GEAR DOOR? Oh yeah, I took that off ;)
The noise is from the little air ducts above the wings to vent the fuse there almost a need whistle
Looks like you can see that radio better than the older ones
Totally! I have my brightness up all the way. Even in the bright sun, it's easy to see at an angle.
I've tried to SAFE select binding process exactly how you've done in the instructional process, and my unit does not do two dances nor SAFE, it does three axes leveling with bind plug only and have hard time getting it to do that. The function setting fails to connect guessing if it's not in safe selected mode it won't get through. Please advise what to do, also it does take about minute to initiate after power cycle, just hearing beep every second or so and then does the single dance. Fresh unit.
Try going into FORWARD PROGRAMMING. They updated the software on some of these AR631's, so you might need to jump into forward programming to see the settings. If that fails, you gotta get it "Bound in SAFE", using the plug, then make the switch assignment to "turn it off/on" or it will always be on.
I think you need the Former. Get into Froward Programming and see if that's the ticket.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Got the save bind by removing bind plug right after battery plug in, I've had the switch and had it in AS3X entire time before with a switch, it does two cycle dance now. I will try forward programming next, and how do I update the receiver software?
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thank you Brian, will try.
Thanks camera crew. Wish my wife supports me on my rc airplane hobby.
Sorry she doesn't ;( That's a bummer. Maybe you can be like, "Hey, look how awesome she is" - that's SURE to get you what you want ;) LOL JK
@@BrianPhillipsRC hahaha, we celebrated 25 years last September, been telling her how awesome she is from the start :)
How do you get the prop to reverse on this model with the Avain ESC?
We cover it in the Radio Setup, if it's a feature on this plane (which I believe it is)
Wow... she's a NICE PLANE! SAFE sure can help as this plane is such high performance..(+poor choice if beautiful color)...will get away if you blink! The high speed turns will be interesting! I like throttle curve..full throttle be "full afterburner"😁
Yeah, it's like TWO afterburners!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC 😉👍Ya that thing comes with a battery addiction! But what better way to get "high" ..haha
"elevator tie" Do you have a video where do a you set up to tie elevator to flaps? Specifically for the p51? I would love to use flaps a little more but I seem to battle the balloon regardless of the amount of flap I use.
It's a SUPER, DUPER easy thing. Just go into FLAP MODE, and change the ELE setting from 0% to something for takeoff, and landing setting...like 5% and 10%, then adjust from there. It will make a HUGE improvement.
I think we cover that in the Carbon Cub SS 2.1m unbox, build, radio setup, and maidens video, if you want to watch me do it.
@@BrianPhillipsRC TYVM sir!
Very nice Plane Brian , I thinks Camera 🎥 lady needs a very wide lens so she won’t lose the Plane! lol. How would the Plane act like if you put a Three or Four blade prop? It was great to see how fast she is! Maybe a Orange covering would help to see it? Great flying Brian. Thanks for the Video
It would torque itself to pieces ;)
It’s got a built in cooling fan on the speed controller
yes, sounds like a fridge when battery is in ;)
The good news is I got the safe to work on my second v1200. I chock it up to operator error .Next step is to get it up in the air and back down in one piece. Wish me luck.
GOOD LUCK! She's a hand full, maybe two ;)
Oh boi thats fast
yeah - crazy fast!
Flaps are explained with the rest of the tx settings... 13mm half 22mm full. First time I've seen them written like this.
Horizon Hobby usually shares the deflections, but I don't setup my radio that way.
I have seen some of your videos i likeTThem ,,it cause your down to eart..+ your camera wife. Question? Have you a video of Sukhoi Su-29MM GEN 2. Reason i ask.. i bought it years ago 2014... i dont remember when i bought from Horizon Hobby. i saw a wideo about safe mode for Spektrum Dx6i ..wow i like vhat i see , but time has flown by so now i have The airplain Su-2929MM GEN 2 and a transmitter DX6i .. No video to see what i have don is correct upset of the tansmitter.. Can you help me?
Thanks Klas! We're glad you enjoy our content. As for the Sukhoi...I wasn't quite involved yet when that was around, and unfortunatelly, it appears to be discontinues still. I don't know that they're re-releasing this particular plane. Sorry to report this Klas...we hope you'll find plenty of other great content and ideas of planes you might get for fun.
As for SAFE on the plane, I'm not 100% sure, since it pre-dated my rc flying experience.
Can you do me a favor. Can you set your V-1200 up on a IX 20 and show me how you set it up. I know i must be doing something wrong but don`t know what it is. Thank, you in advance.
If I had an iX20, I could, but I don't have one.
Are you having EXTREME ballooning, with FLAP deployment? If so, check out the "Second Thoughts" video for the ELEVATOR CORRECTION to be applied to fix this and you'll be way closer to dialed in.
@@BrianPhillipsRC No what happen was i took off made my turn then as it was flying it started loosing alt. till it crashed. it was as if I lost controle of it. i remember when i was setting it up i couldn`t get the safe to activate. that is why i wanted to see how you would set your v 1200 up. i`m sure that it was something i did or did not do wright. I have another v1200 comeing so i don`t want a repeat of what happen to the first one.
nice video Brian & Camera crew -
bending landing gear is a common problem -
do you have a video on repairing bent landing gear ?
At the end of the video I address this (I thought???).
I DID tighten the one that kinda got "loose" on the Left wing of the FIRST flight in the video (the Second flight in real time) but I did it off camera. I took the four screws out, and lifted it up, and it was a 20 second job with a hex driver to tighten it, and it stuck straight out just like new ;) I was very pleased, except that I missed the opportunity to capture it on camera. We try hard to get all this stuff on camera, but just missed that by a few minutes - sorry about that!
I just made new model NX6
And it shows up twice. I have identical #3 plane. I tried to delete one and it deleted both. So I set a new model again and same thing.
Make a 4th one, and then renumber it to #1... then just DELETE 1,2,3. See if this fixes your issue. I have not run into this glitch, but I have run into a couple, that I've mentioned in my videos. I still LOVE the NX6, and compared to the DX18, so good considering it's the "bottom of the line card".
Canopy on these is RIDICULOUS!! but very worth it at 150+mph 👌
Agreed!
This Plane seems sick. It's really not my style but it is really A screamer.
.....Oh yeah Brian, I also hate when you're "cornholed"😆 into flying in certain conditions. Thanks man!
LOL - Glad you appreciated that.
Hey man do you know if I can fly this plane with my 6s 5000 100c?
Yeah. For sure!
another awesome video. Is the blue on the top wing a sticker or paint?
Stickers that WRAP all the way around so they won't peel at 140 mph...BUT we noticed a buzz from something...but could never find what it was. Only was at one spot, and didn't notice it again.
That’s the 6S baby.
True. I don't think I'll even fly this plane on 4S.
Hi....Brian...very very fasf...very Good plane...
It's extremely fast, and it's a well built plane, but not for everyone ;)
The v900 is great you can see it
I'm sticking with my v900 the colour on the v1200 is bad.
I think the orange was a better choice, but nothing that can't be changes fairly easily.
Thanks Brian. I've been looking for your review of the V1200 after I noticed its introduction. Great job to you and "the camera crew" who did a wonderful job of keeping up with the plane. As an added note, I really appreciate you now having a microphone ... great improvement in audio. BTW it seems your driveway is screaming to have a runway number. Thanks again to both of you for a job well done.
Thanks Bob! I have been thinking about the runway markings, probably a mix between totally scale and something more palatable to a woman that lives with me ;) LOL
I know that the runway number would have to do with the heading of the runway, but I've been reluctant since we might extend the runway, and not sure how I would "unpaint" such a number when we extend it...
@@BrianPhillipsRC unpaint markings like they do @airports..rather than slapping blocking paint or scrubbing, go ahead & do a resurface! 🤣
I would love to see you put a better paint scheme on that elusive rocket ship 🚀 I would go with yellow 💛👍👍😎✌✌
Yellow would be SOOOOOO much better - WAY easier to see ;)
HOWEVER, if you've ever seen me paint, I get a little carried away....by the time I'm done, the plane would weigh 10 more lbs - LOL!
trace the blue with black marker. it will make the blue pop up off the plane
I think it would look good, but when you're moving 140 mph, and you're "That" far away (still due to speed) I wonder if that'll show up.
Did you have a chance to try it on yours?
I thought about putting RED or another color over the leading edge of the wings, vertical stab, and tips of the tail...but not sure if it'll be effective enough for the effort....and this plane is PRETTY as it were. I don't want to screw it up!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC fpv it
Brian help. I’ve tried to watch video portion on your personal DR and expo settings on switch F but you go to fast for me. Just tell me settings for each position. I like 0 position for lowest rate and 2 for highest. And then tell me which position do you take off in. Fly in. And then land in. Should I takeoff and land in Safe Select or not? I assume you don’t use it at all. My first and only flight I nearly lost it twice due to losing visual sight. Only by the Grace of God is my plane here. Thanks Rick
Expo Help - ua-cam.com/video/u5DnWEyAKDY/v-deo.html
I fly in the middle Dual Rates and Expo position (position 1, the center, of "F"), then I can get back to more sensitive controls or more muted controls quickly. I talk about that too ;)
Take off in SAFE if you need it. Take off out of SAFE if you don't want to use it.
Sounds like you need some practice before you have another heart attack with this plane - trust me, I've been there!
*Was it a decal or the landing gear cover fluttering 🤔...
GREAT IDEA!!! I bet that was it! Thanks Francis - I hadn't given that a second thought, but I bet you're 100% spot on!!!
Wow nice powerful plane. What a speed demon! I could have some fun with that doing my famous high altitude dives at full throttle then pulling up at last minute. 😱 If it does 140+ just on level flight it would be insane speed on a dive 😁
I bet it'll got about 160 mph or better down hill with full throttle!
Out standing shipmate. Press on. i have a Q. can i fly this airplane using a Spektrum ix20? i crashed one all ready and want to know what the heck went wrong.
Absolutely! The IX20 can fly any DSMX or DSM2 equipped rc craft.
@@BrianPhillipsRC cool beans.
Oh man!! I’m trying to decide between this or the havoc
If you can wait....
I have an insider secret for you
...we're doing the Havoc too ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC 😲🙀🤙🤙. Omg u are the best!!! U know when roughly?
Brian I was literally about to checkout my order with a havoc no word of a lie!’ LOL ok I’m waiting
nice plane!
I think so too! Horizon Hobby put together a great plane!
They should have put flames on it, Now that would look 😎
Dude!!! Best review ever! I believe the v900 has much better colors for orientation while being a speed machine! It confused me why eflite would give this bird the light blue color! Can't wait to see you get this out somewhere where you can really let it rip!
Thanks Ray! The plane is AMAZING, and super well built, but totally agree about blue...it looks GREAT on paper, or in sales literature, but in the sky on a CLEAR fall day near twilight....she likes to disappear!
I think I should get some RED decals cut for the wings or something like that. LED's would help a ton too...
Oh last thing. I’m not using takeoff flaps anymore. My runway is 700ft long. This is the first time I’ve ever had them on a plane. Landing flaps I did like.
I use takeoff flaps ALL the time for slower flight. Try to use ALL the flight controls to command full control of the aircraft and you'll enjoy flying even more ;)
cool plane brian loved the video. but for me . and value for money its still the habu lol
I agree with you from a bang for the buck perspective!
When its new you have to smell it that goes for everything thats new its the law 😆😆😆 👍👍👍
yes
Ok takeoff problems. I set flaps exactly per your last video. I deployed take off flaps gradually increasing throttle and at about 150ft I give some elevator to takeoff and nothing. I was in safe mode. I immediately shut down throttle. By the way I hated Safe. No response it was like a boat in water. So now I went to flaps and took out that 20% so I would have more take off flaps. I’m thinking that would help me get off the ground. I was able to get in the air but it was a struggle. Landing flaps were great. Ok next flight no Safe. I was in high rates per Manuel. I have take off flaps deployed and rolling down runway gradually increasing throttle and take off. Sorta. At about 6 ft high it just banks hard left and I shut down throttle. I crash. Luckily it was soft dirt. I was going to take apart retracts per your video to tighten set screw but right retract won’t close. Left one works fine. I check wires in fuselage and everything looks normal. Any ideas? Oh your Second Thoughts video. Your takeoff plane banked hard left but you manage to push through. That’s what mine did but lower and sooner. You probably had more throttle than I did. What is that. What does it do that? My other planes don’t react like that.
This is from "P Factor" or the tremendous torque from the spinning prop. You have to counter this some with ailerons, elevator, and rudder...it's also totally avoidable if you really slowly increase throttle BUT you'll find it very tempting to get into the power as you first get off the ground...this plane is SOOO powerful, you have to TAME it. That's why they kinda talk about it being "easier to fly with safe"...but I just plane think SAFE is just an orientation aid on this plane...WAY Too wide of turns and not enough control authority to fly it in our spot...but that's due to the tree lines.
very nice plane, hard to see because Horizon decided to paint a fast plane the colour of the sky lol
Yep, LOL ;)
Nice rc
Sure is!
How many acres do you live on?
A little over 10 acres.
I think you need to review the v900 no gear but better color and not quite as fast. Horizon... send Brian a V900 stat.
LOL - "...send Brian a V900 stat" - Love it!
Never mind Brian. I found how to control voice volume. Now it’s to loud. Haha. I’ll readjust.
Click the back button, and then scroll...that's you're volume control.
The struts is real weak. Just a heads up be careful.
True, I learnt that from both landings, but they were both less than stellar, admittedly.
Excessive noise throws me off too! Hard to concentrate lol.....Theatrics ! 😂
I'm on the unboxing portion and would like to add : a tight box is a good box. You want it TIGHT. Its better on the finish. 💪👐👛
Truth!
Ok Horizon is sending me new set of retracts. I can’t close one so it’s a bugger getting screw out when there not closed
Nice! Hope you can get them working well!
Hi Brian. I have this plane, I trust your reviews but you must of been paid to say it's a good plane.
It's a dog, v900 is way better. I resorted to hand launching and belly landing it. Landing gear is terrible. Tooth picks would hold up better.
Even on tarmac it bends the gear.
It's not even as fast as the v900 unless you have new charged 6s on a dive.
Torque roll is also nasty and considering its a big plane it can catch you out.
I've flown it alot and had 1 new gear leg and re glued the gear back in countless times.
The flaps need elevator mix which surely horizon new?
Maybe doing an updated review would be good on planes that turn out to be so bad.
Just feels like a manufacturer review otherwise.
Sorry you feel this way. When I eventually reviewed the V900, I said I like it better. We got the V1200 WAY before we got the V900. Wish I would have gotten them in reverse order.
We've done literally thousands of videos, so hopefully this one is an exception for you.
Ball Link Pliers make it so much easier.
I think you're right. I suppose you really gotta use them a lot to help justify the purchase? They can't be cheap...
@@BrianPhillipsRC Horizon Hobby BLH100 $13.25
LOL.. i have the version of this plane with NO landing gear at all.. it has to be hand launched and belly landed.. my version DOSENT have safe flight mode and its terrifying to fly.. i hits 120 mph real speed and cant be landed slowly.. ive only flown it once. P.S. i just checked mine is the V900.. should be called the death machine
LOL - You will NOT want to get this plane ;) LOL - It's the super-death-machine!!! WITH SAFE ;)
This plane is for advance pilot only abd the retracts gear is completely junk , i like this plane how it flys , -this is my favorite plane. ,just need a full flaps mixing with down elevator , this is butter for me to land
Long runway, long approach, landings would be very easy ;)
I blame Spektrum
I don't ;) I'm a fanboy - LOL
