This mission paints the asari in a new light. They kept the knowledge of the Reapers (what the Protheans bred them to defeat) to themselves to maintain their galactic dominance.
My thoughts were that the Protheans didn’t have the time to actually groom them as a successor or servitor race like they wanted to, but they tried to engineer the circumstances towards that end; sadly, the Reapers came and the Asari were left to develop on their own. They probably knew **of** the Reapers, but only as a boogeyman that the last Protheans blamed for their downfall, and not as the literal reason.
Maybe the Asari didn’t evolve in quite the same way the Protheans had, so they couldn’t connect to the Beacons in the same fashion. Thus, while they had an advantage due to having a *similar* physiology and a literal Beacon on their homeworld, they weren’t able to catch up before the next Reaper invasion; hell, their inability to directly interface with Beacons might’ve made them even more skeptical of the “Reaper” idea
I'm so glad you brought Javik. One of the easiest gold mines of lore to miss.
- The ending of Priority: Thessia definitely gets you in your emotions! It feels like a really big defeat!
- Mission wise, I would personally do the N7: Communication Hub mission first, then Priority: Horizon, then go back to the Citadel to finish off all scanning/collecting missions & conversations, 100% all the systems on the galaxy map, then move onto the Leviathan DLC (Citadel: Dr. Bryson), then the Citadel DLC (Shore Leave), and then you're in the finale of ME3!
- Can't believe you're getting closer to the ending of this game! I've enjoyed your playthrough so much!😊💙
Definitely the prefect way to get ready for the Finale ME3
This right here ☝️
*Chooses Javik*
"You have chosen....wisely."
Her comment sections tell her exactly what to do so its of little surprise.
@@ItsAv3rageGamer This was clearly recorded in advance, though.
Your a legendary Shep , you do this game justice ...... the relationship between Shep and Anderson is just so precious xo
Bioware was bought by EA and it was decided that Javik would be a DLC character, but this was already written so they re-wrote it so that Shepard's previous exposure to the beacon would help you solve the puzzle in Javik's absence
Garrus makes hints abt it too.
Horizon is the last mission before the point of no return, so you can do the Leviathan DLC now or just play it and the Citadel DLC back to back after Horizon. Either way is perfectly fine, and I'm sure you'll love both!
I've watched a couple playthroughs of the series now and played the game myself at least 15 or 20 times now and that part still always kills me. No wonder this is my favorite series of all time, even at the point where I could quote you every line and know every upcoming action, it still hits you hard. Never expected when I first started the first game that 20 years later it'd still be kicking my ass.
Thessia is a real gut punch because after negotiating peace between Turians and Krogans and then Quarians and Geth, you start to feel like you can actually win the war. And then Kai Leng brings it all crashing down and three of the four council homeworlds are now overtaken by Reapers.
Loving your playthrough as always! This is the perfect time to do the Dr. Bryson mission, and it might take more than one video to complete it.
Another magnificent day for Mass Effect 3 thank you LiteWeight.
🎮☕🎮
The Priority: Thessia mission is already good, but it improves greatly with Javik present. Glad you brought him along!
It’s always interesting seeing Liara get her views of the Protheans and her own race’s religion get shattered.
21:01 Seeing you abandon the missile launcher made me sad, lol.
You've got the fighting skills, you've got the team! And the war assets....Cereberus is just surviving on "plot armor."
I legit smiled when she picked Javik for this mission
Runs past two of the most interesting artifacts in the temple. Very observant. Lol
Teegan do the Dr Bryson mission next. It ties into this Thessia mission perfectly.
The fact you brought Javik without knowing to bring Javik is so good!! It’s a pretty different experience (and less lore friendly) had you not.
6:53 good call. Love to see it
1:00:32 "It's only gonna get worse!" I suspect the Citadel DLC will adjust your feelings.
Before going anywhere, go talk to Joker! That is an absolute MUST after the Fall of Thessia.
Just my two cents, but this is the time to do the all the non-Citadel DLC. Save the Citadel DLC for after Sanctuary. It really is the best time to do it.
What an incredible stroke of luck that you randomly decided to bring Javik, this mission is SO much better with him compared to anyone else. Such a great lore dump and I'm so glad you got to see it
That's awesome you got flare. That's my favorite ability
another banger of an episode lite! excited for more. As far as the DLCs, there’s a pretty clear ‘point of no return’ indicator in game, just get them done before then and you’ll be fine :)
"Wait, what would have happened if I didn't bring him...?"
Lt Kurin: If you don't bring Javik, Liara will plead with Kurin to hold her position, making it clear that it's vital for the survival of the asari race.
Temple artifacts: Instead of Javik saying things like "this shows x" or "we did this," your other squad mate will say things like "he looks like a Prothean," and "it looks like this must have happened." Much better when you do have Javik with you, obviously!

"I Read All Of These Already, Why Are Saying New?"
Not all new update entries appear at.the bottom on the war assets list, Teagan
Damn, Thessia hits hard.
Javik is Savage, my favorite squadmate in ME3 after Garrus
Very good intuition you had bringing Javik. But yeah, you missed 2 of the artifacts before triggering the interaction. You were looking at the outer sides while walking on both flanks and didn't walk back to see the inner sides too, you went than into the middle thinking everything was checked there. You missed capturing with the camera but overall it was really good job with first try and there would have only been some additional dialogues.
YYEEEESS! It's time!!
When you got to this entry of ME3, I once left you a comment about bringing anyone you want to your missions. Javik is not a "must' as some watchers kind of proclaime. Especially for first playthoughs imo, because ME3 is so rich in ME1 conversations with the crew.
That is EXCEPT Priority Thesia. 🥳
I'm so happy things worked out this way! It makes me excited and hopeful your conclusion for this drown jewel of Sci-fi!!
Leviathan DLC is meant to be played after Thessia, and you still got a bit of leeway when it comes to critical missions.
The mission would've lost a significant part of its impact if Javik wasn't there. You'd still get by but it's definitely not the same if another squadmate is there instead of him. The first scene with Lieutenant Kurin at the beginning wouldn't have happened, same for some interactions with Vendetta.
Javik wasn't mandatory because when the game first came out, EA in its infinite greed, decided that he would be a DLC character. This meant that some players wouldn't even have him. I did this mission for the first time without him, and there is just no comparison. Players were absolutely livid afterwards, considering how important Javik is.
Another consequence of this decision, is that a part of the original plot had to be rewritten, and this directly affected Javik's part in it.
I also personally never liked how BioWare forcibly made Shepard feel sorry for the Asari and at least didn't give us the choice to confront the Asari Councilor about the Prothean Beacon. The fall of Thessia wasn't Shepard's fault, the Asari tied one of her hand behind her back from the beginning. They had it coming.
They didn't show up at the Krogan/Salarian summit and only pointed their nose after Tuchanka and Rannoch were dealt with. They deliberately held crucial informations about the Crucible at a moment where time was the essence, and only gave it when the Reapers started breathing down their neck. Cerberus getting its hands on it first is their fault.
The Asari used everyone in the Galaxy as a shield against the Reapers whilst staying in the shadows. They played solo until the last minute and ultimately paid for it.
I honestly couldn’t agree more. Ever since I did this mission and learnt what the Asari did, I’ve always thought of them to be incredibly selfish. It doesn’t help that they also apparently made it ‘law’ so that if any council race discovered a Prothean beacon, then they’d have to share the knowledge with the galactic community. So not only were they selfish, but hypocrites as well. I think Liara feels ashamed of her people, having learned this.
Also really messed up when you remember about that one Alliance soldier in the citadel that finally got her asari daughter sent back to Thessia before her next deployment.
Wassup Liteweight how are you today really enjoying this playthrough and looking forward to more 😊😊
"Good for the writers. Bad for me"
😂😢
You'll love the Leviathan DLC, soooooooo good
Thanks!
The Illusive man is insane... The Reapers must be annihilated, every single machine
36:03 The Asari worshipped the Protheans all that time and didn't know it.
Other than the upper tier of Matriarchs who kept that knowledge hidden for millenia
Kai Leng, man. How pathetic. Can't beat Shepard without a gunship backing him up.
Me being a ME3 purist , i never even PLAYED this story with Javik as a companion and i played this game and the MP ALOT lol
I was wondering what that noise was a few hours ago. Guess it was the collective cheering of the community when you selected Javik for this mission. 😁
Honestly, bringing Javik to Thessia is, imo, the best decision and squadmate for the mission. It absolutely rearranges the thinking of the past and origin of religions. And the Illusive Man.....well, he aint wrong. And really sad....but it is just about time to have an awesome party on the Citadel!
Javik was apparently mandatory at one point, not just for this mission, but he was essential for the entire game. But as the story developed, his role was cut down until the character became redundant. But he was already programmed and voiced so they brought him back as the DLC.
58:51
You should do the scanning for the Kakliosaur fossils too
Plus, you still have the leviathan dlc that you've not finished yet
10:40 That sounds like Kratos telling Atreus "Close your heart to it" in God of War 2018 before he realised in Ragnarok that Atreus's empathy was one of his best qualities and that he didn't want him to lose that.
Tough for a video game to put you in the main character’s shoes, but BioWare somehow does a great job in ME3.
The more and more I watch playthroughs the more I appreciate the dream sequences. The weight of all the decisions, the deaths of friends, the failures of missions like this must be so burdening for Shepard.
I remember playing this mission for the first time and being stunned. What do you mean we FAILED?!?!? What the hell now?!?!?
58:38 yes, you always need bigger tissues at the end 🤧... the developers also made me think about the decisions for hours and... play through the trilogy 6 times... and I'm thinking about a 7th time because I haven't seen everything yet ✨
Oh, well if it’s gonna be your 7th play through then why not? It’d be thematically appropriate, given the N7 designation 😏
Thessia hits HARD. Javik does certainly add a lot of unique and different interactions to that part but it is more or less the same with other characters. I really HATE the Kai Leng fight, I know it has to be that way for the story but even if you almost one shot him it makes no difference and you can't shoot the damn chopper/plane.
I've gotta stop watching this stuff on the train, sitting here tearing up.
Lmao welp priority: earth is gonna be a rough one when it comes around
Don't cry teegan when u get emotional i get emotional 😢
After Sanctuary, you definitely should do all of the dlc. That's your point of no return.
Shore Leave makes the most sense as the last big thing to do before the official point of no return. It's not necessarily written that way, but it feels totally right as a final reprieve from the on-going war before you're off to fight. Leviathan's sort of an "anytime" DLC... the only "bad" time to do it is immediately after acquiring it, and that's really a stretch. It's only bad in that circumstance because it has the Banshees in it as enemies that you fight, and if you do it before the Ardat-Yakshi Temple mission, it kind of spoils the way the temple mission starts because it's clearly building towards the big reveal of the Banshee enemy type, but if you did Leviathan first, then you already know what the temple mission is building to and what's making the screaming noise and so all the suspense and build is kind of lost when you already know what it is.
Did you remember to contact Miranda when on the Citadel?
Yep, she did 👍
Just a heads up, this one isn't currently in your ME3 playlist.
dang the Asari Councelor knew it all the time that there will be a reaper invasion ... n they did nothing to tell it the galaxy 🤣✨
They had pre-invasion knowledge from time when Protheans didn't know about Reapers too.
I can't tell which is a more incompetent sci fi government. Mass Effect's Council or Star Wars's pre Empire Republic.
”Ah yes, ’Reapers’… we have dismissed that claim.” - Turian Councilor.
Yeah, I feel the same way Lite. I don’t like the Illusive Man either! The emotional moments always get to me! 🤗
❤❤❤
Sorry Lite, this one hits pretty hard... Definitely the beginning of ...
You can do dr Bryson now if you want. It’s good to do after thessia.
Citadel DLC next?? Or Leviathan?
Nope one more mission left before citadel dlc
Im recomend to speak next with Admiral Hacket. He tell you somthink important about you :))
You did very well despite the failure. This mission is one of the more emotionally difficult because you cannot win. Forced failed mission is a terrible plot device. It could have been handled much better.
The DLC is self contained and adds a new perspective. It won't be disjointed playing sooner.
Very entertaining and you did very well! That's all I've got for this... other than how annoying Kai Leng is!
I don't know what Bioware were thinking when they decided an edgy Nightwing cosplayer would be one of the trilogy's final villains.
In all my play thoroughs I never took Javik lots of new dialog for me ty.
Refreshing to see a comment like this, thank you!!
You should play Superliminal.
I still cannot decide on whether little edgelord ninja boy is well written or not. He's a relatively late nemesis that is overpowered and does some stupid things (per the books - ultimate assassin decides to stop and have a bowl of cereal in a victim's house before he leaves). He's designed to be hated, and hate him most people do. I lean more on the side of not, but I do constantly consider this when I see him.
Well written characters are generally "hated" because of their characterisation. But edgelord ninja boy doesn't really have a character, in the games at least, I haven't read the books. He's a badly written henchman to an equally badly written bond villain.
Badly written I'd say. He's a non threatening wimp the game treats as dangerous.
Bad, he's not cool or intimidating, just annoying
Leng could definitely be better, but making him much better would be a mistake in design. The story is designed to channel all the Cerberus anger/hate towards the Illusive Man, and if they made Leng a truly great bad guy, he would steal some of TIMs juice and weaken the story as a result. So he's a tough needle to thread, making him interesting enough without making him too interesting in the process. Were I doing the writing, I'd probably have introduced him as a character in ME2 (probably as one of Miranda's assistants or such) so that we see him once or twice and have some idea of who he is, where he's coming from, but not let him be important to that story at all. Then we he reappears in ME3 there's already a bit of history to charge the relationship a bit. After that, I'd probably leave the ME3 stuff for him the way it is. Again, would need to make sure he doesn't upstage TIM at all, and better to be underwhelming than overwhelming in this case.
@@MoMadizon Introducing him in ME2 would have made his intro less jarring. But tbh I'd probably not include him at all, and I'd completely rewrite Cerberus in ME3. The writing for Cerberus is by far the weakest part of the story in my opinion. The only Cerberus mission I liked was Grissom Academy.
Finish the dlcs because its very important, before its too late like thane romance in mass effect 2 you didn't completed 🤦♂️
Broooooo how are you still watching hahaha you are a masochist
She doesn't have to do every little thing in the game man.
Speak to liara first and do all dlc missions before sanctuary 🎉🎉🎉
Liara is so arrogant during this misson
I mean, most if not all Asari are at some point during that long ass life they have.
Tuff pill to swallow with Thessia😵First time watching it fall had me sooooo pissed it wasn't even funny! I mean I wasn't swearing at all...I was yelling Unicorns! Rainbows!🤨😂🤣100% correct on the story provoking emotions, that's why it's one of the best trilogy's around imo!
Great episode thanks so much Lw🙂
You don't like the Geth Plasma Shotgun? But, it has homing slugs! And charged shots! Unsubbed! (Only kidding.) This was one of my favorite missions because it proves that Sheperd isn't Space Jesus and can lose sometimes. Though, I'm a bit on the fence with Kai Leng. Dude's got hella plot armor.
A literal plot armour shield.

"What Would've Happened If Jarvilk Wasn't Here?"
Shepard would've noticed that access point and pointed it out
Damn your rushing the game to fast, you missed a few things😳 dont rush
Javik is not a priority on Thessia because back in the day he was a DLC character, brainrot move by EA
As someone who had never played the Prothean DLC until the LE, bringing Javik to Thessia after all my other playthroughs where I didn't have him blew my mind even more had I had access to him earlier. I actually disagree with most people here. Your first playthrough you shouldn't bring Javik, then bring him on your second. The contrast and revelations are obviously huge.
i don't think you want wait any longer for the dr bryson dlc. honestly its one of the most important dlc's and you would hate to miss it. I normally do it sooner then this, also its getting close to where i think you can miss it.
if you miss something that was meant to be picked up during a mission you can check the Spectre Terminal on the citadel and it will have the missed items there.
