+Maria Porzelt Yes. It was wonderful to see the horse rewarded. You could tell how his confidence increased. Superb horse and an awesome, gentle encouraging rider. Bravo!!
I must say, what a pleasure to watch! Its lovely to see a horse being allowed to flow at their own pace and being praised for what we take for granted.
Wonderful job that was a huge course and your horse did it so well! i dont think my eyes left my screen! it was a pleasure to watch and smile when you rewarded your horse with a good pat, glad to see there are still lots of good riders out there.
The white on the horses legs is called 'Eventing Grease' and it is put on just before the cross-country to give extra pretection to the horses legs if they rub a pole or hedge while jumping.
So nice to see a rider who doesn't push the horse too hard and just encourages him all the way around the track. If more riders acted like this then maybe there would be less accidents. Great rider, great horse, loads of respect for eachother. Pure pleasure to watch.
I'm a Western rider....however I love watching the jumping and dressage. I do so appreciate the kind encouragement you give Rocky. He seems very smooth and attentative to your words and signals. I was surprised how narrow some of the jumps appeared. Splendid video!
One of the most instructive go-pro cams recording I've seen, thanks to your clever inserting the next fence in the upper left corner. Thank you! Also congrats on such a honest horse!! :)
Best horse and rider i have ever seen! Love the speed, the jump the horse, I want to be doing XC when im older, you have no idea how good you are , ur perfect!!
Wow, I dont even ride horses but I am just blown away with the partnership between the horse and the rider! I am a animal lover and I love how the rider encourages and acknowledges the horses's hard work. Great video
It's good! You don't find very many riders life him who encourage there horses like that. At my riding club were half the riders are only jumping like 70cm push there horses to hard then just jump off and hand there reins to there parents and friends and don't even give there horses any praise but he took the time to make sure the horse was alright over the jumps! Love this!
Awe what a good boy and what a loving rider! Very great pair. It's lovely to see when a horse really tries and he gets rewarded with cheers from the crowd and nice pats from his owner :) I give my horse pats after everything we do. Every jump, every course, every time we do some flat work and when we come down to the walk and we take a break he gets a pat. My horse sometimes gets evasive. So randomly spooking at things when he doesn't want to work, but I help him see with pats and working through it that it helps his work ethic.
Wow, that was so amazing. I truly appreciate the attention to detail of the horse during the video. I felt like I was right there on the horse and going through each jump with you. I love the encouraging pats you gave the horse and the horse was responding to you as you needed him to slow down or speed up. Thank you and I loved watching.
Wow. Just wow. I am FLABBERGASTED at how in shape this horse and rider are! I mean really, over ten minutes at the canter/gallop while jumping very intense jumps? Just wow. This was AMAZING to watch! Thank you so much for sharing! Makes me feel like the showing I do (Arab Hunter Pleasure) is ridiculously easy. Bravo!
what a lovely horse and how beautiful to see you praise and encourage your horse after every fence in this impressive track...! Rarely to see some this cooperation between horse and rider. great! good luck & health for the future!
Awesome video - truly gives a sense of how big the jumps are, how FAST everything happens, and the amazing skill and bravery involved. Thanks for posting it and good luck!
"The more I encouraged him, the braver and better he got." So true!! I'm training a 7yo Morgan-X (in profile pic) that was a lawn ornament for most of his life before I bought him, and he's just blossoming with lots of practice and praise. Once he figures out he can do something, he just loves it. Great video!
Wonderful partnership. Brave, honest horse and kind, skillful rider. The course looked challenging, but you negotiated it perfectly. Good to see such care for a young horse, I'd love to see what he's doing now
Wow this was lovely to watch. Simply breathtaking on how brave this young horse was and how well-trained he was to have the endurance and responsiveness to you. You clearly have a great connection to him and he to you and it's a joy to watch this. :)
Love the commentary in this video! I thought it was absolutely great how you kept praising him! As a young eventer I love to see videos like this and to see how I can improve my ride, do thanks again for posting this!
This was fantastic. Great work. The inset from the course walk made it all the more interesting. Mike's commentary makes you feel as if you were there with him. It was great to feel a part of the relationship with the horse and to tune into him. You have a winning formula. Looking forward to more.
Oh, Lord! I have never jumped cross country, but it looks incredibly hard core! The tracks are so stretched out, and the jumps are massive (and scary..). Well done to both of you! x
Thank you so much for sharing these videos! They're really informative and it's great to see an upper level rider treat their horse so well :) I love the fact that you talk a lot about your horse's confidence and mentality. There were a couple times where I could hear you say "good boy" followed by a pat on the neck. Fantastic!
This horse is an athlete, a horse who is fit and trained to go the distance. No horse owner would put their horse in an event they didn't think they could handle. And vets do the exact same thing at endurance races. Don't judge if you don't know what your talking about. Thank you
So cool! Thanx for filming, have showed to some friends so they could experience and see why crosscountry is so special. Told them that this was not the my playing levelfield (soooo much lower), but is so great to do! And complements to you and you horse. You can see, she's having fun to, and the way she moves her ears, that she has constant attention for you. Just great!
it's very nice to see a rider who gives his horse encouragement instead of beating him with a whip. you both did fantastic! you can tell that you two connect.
you're an amazing rider/trainer/horseman! It's clear you love your horse and your horse loves you. Kudos! I wish every big time rider was as good a horseman as you.
Just watching this round you have given me confidence to get my mare and I out and to challenge us more. That horse is an absolute super star! Thanks for counting the strides too my one thing to work on this year.
Am I the only one who was breathing and holding my breath in rhythm during this awesome vid? I had to decide whether to dry my eyes or pry my jaw off the ground afterwards. Holy cow. What total trust and communication between horse and rider.
I really love how you encourage your horse instead of just riding the marshmallows out of him. This was a great way to spend my evening; I can vividly remember that wonderous feeling of soaring over a fence - it's just like flying. :-) Thank you!
wow this is amazing.. as a dressage rider and former showjumper the cross country still amazes me, and ive see so many terrible falls i dont have the guts to introduce my horse to it. but i admire the courage and the stamina of these riders and horses.
It makes me happy to see someone checking out its heart/lungs to make sure everything is all good (: Beautiful horse and what a great team! Keep up the good work!
The horse and rider seem very in-check on this course, it's absolutely perfect. He jumped everything very well, very good effort and the horse looks so happy the entire time. Great team :)
I really like that you untack your own horse at the end, even though you are probably breathing hard, tired and thirsty. I see SO many professional riders hand the horse straight over to the groom when they get off...like they are a machine that they are finished using. Congrats on a beautiful round!
Amazing! I loved observing the horse's ears that give away so many clues. One fine rider and a truly spectacular horse. This is how it is done. Challenging perhaps but not extreme like the Grand National that I still think should be banned in its current shape and form.
beautiful course! it's crazy to see the horse and rider's endurance! more than 10 min gallop with jumps just incredible .... fantastic, really congratulations and good luck for the next contest! (I apologize for any spelling mistakes and grammatical errors, I'm French)
I like how this guy talks and the fact that he encourages his horse. I know many riders due to me being a rider myself. Who get angry when their horse stops at a fence because they aren't encouraging or giving any form of leg.
You're saying that your horse is jumping quite well, your horse din't jump well HE JUMPED AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Don't be shy! You have to be proud on your horse! And you can let everyone knew it!
Great to watch, the only thing that scares me about this sport is these rock solid (looking) fences with these drops behind them. Watching the olypmics last year I had to wince every time a horse landed for their joints. Watching from the saddle is something different though, it is super smooth. Thanks for putting this up.
Wow great riding! I cannot believe those water jumps! I showed this to my mom on full screen mode and she was like "oh my gosh" when you jumped over the water! :)
Great video! I was cheering and clapping every time you two made a jump ^_^ That horse is quite amazing and I'm sure it is in no small part due to its rider. Congratulations on a smooth ride over a difficult course. ^_^
This is so impressive. It actually made my cry a little. Love his ears and you can tell he really likes it. No, I can't see his face or body language but you can see by his head and ears he wants to do it and he wants to please you. :)
I love videos like these! and I have a HitAir vest...love it so much! thankfully never fell with it yet but i did forget to unhook it before getting off once and it seemed like it will protect very well!
Anyone else love the way he encouraged his horse and praised him after almost every jump? Great horse.
Thank You!!
Yes loved that about him!:)

The potential for rider education on technique provided from commentary on videos such as these is huge! Love it!
I absolutely love these videos, every one. I love the way you treat the horses you ride, and how often you praise and reward them :)

Love this! What a fantastic horse and rider! Plenty of encouragement, to which the horse reacted very well to! Well done both

Beautiful, lovely to see a horse and rider having such a great time together, that looks so fun!
+katie jane Thank you !!!
I love how you encourage the horse and point out the mistakes of the rider instead of blaming the horse, it's a really nice thing to see.

This is the greatest equestrian GoPro series I've seen so far.
Loved watching this video. The talk through really adds to it as well.
Also a very stunning and honest horse, you can see that he enjoyed the course.
