What is not mentioned in the video: Peter Sagan is the only professional/elite rider who has managed to win the UCI Road World Championship three times in a row (2015, 2016 and 2017).
The fact that his disqualification for the Cavendish crash incident was later proven to be a completely erroneous call by the UCI officials, should have been mentioned. He deserves public acknowledgement of his vindication. Gross oversight by the producers of this video.
His first win, the stage of the 2010 paris nice was a finish in the town I lived in at the time. I said, who ever wins that stage I am going to support. When I looked up who this peter Sagan was, there was a video of him doing wheelies and skids on a mtb as his introduction to the Italian team he was on, and I was like... this is perfect.
Nice video about the most successful Slovakian cyclist ever, but it contains some facts that are wrong: 1. He was born in Žilina, which is one of the biggest cities in Slovakia with approximately 80 000 people. It isn't a village and definitely can't be considered as village. 2. He has run Strade Bianche many times, but has never managed to win it. His best results are two 2nd places and one 4th place. 3. He has never won a point classification at Vuelta a Espaňa. In 2011, he was 4th and in 2018, he was 2nd. He has never managed to win it due to different point system that wasn't exactly sprinter friendly.
And he never won the Amstel Gold Race.. 5 riders did win the 3 grand tour points jersey Eddy Merckx, Laurent Jalabert, Djamolidine Abdoujaparov, Alessandro Petacchi and Mark Cavendish.
Fact Check: Sagan never won the points at the Vuelta a España. Also there are 5 riders who completed the feat: Eddy Merckx, Djamolidine Abdoujaparov, Laurent Jalabert, Alessandro Petacchi and Mark Cavendish.
Yes, a true legend of the sport, but hanging up his wheels too soon. I think something happened during the pandemic. Somehow he lost his motivation and inner fire, and also I think the divorce with his wife took something away from him. I understand he wants to spend more time with his kid. Just wish we could see a top motivated Sagan fighting in the classics and for the green jersey with WvA and MvdP etc.
Have you made any videos about pro cyclists who started at a later age? Stories of young prodigy cyclists who started at 13 and later become big pros are a dime a dozen, but I'd like to hear more about the opposite, pros who went pro in their late 20s or even 30s.
@@andreafax1640Can you imagine that? At 24 Roglic just started cycling. At the same age Pogacar already has won 2 TdFs and fighting for third and meanwhile has won a bunch of other big trophies.
2 major errors Sagan never won the points Jersey in vuelta, and even if he did he wouldnt be the first Secondly, Cavendish Also won the green Jersey of the tour and the WC in the same year
@@TrueSportsLore And he never won Amstel Gold. Sorry, but this is not a good reportage. The debate about the crash with Cav has long been history. There were other controversial things he did. Also, the title "Rise & Fall" is just lurid and does not reflect what was said and shown.
Mad that you missed the fact that he was World Champion three times in a row. Ohh, Cavendish is a despot. Makes Abdoujaparov look like a safe rider. Great for the respect though.
I mean, thanks for doing such a video and aknowledging people about Peter's achievements, but the incident from 2017 is proven to be judged wrongly, even Sagan got an appology from UCI because of that. Another thing, he comes from Žilina, which is one of the biggest towns in Slovakia, not a small village like it's stated in the video. Also, he is the only one to win 3 world championships in road cycling in a row, you didn't mention that. And you also forgot to mention his pre-road cycling career which includes world championship win in junior category (mountain cycling). But overall not a bad video. Just disappointed because of the facts above. Watching second time, you also said he is the first one to win point classification at all of the 3 Grand Tours. But he never really won the jersey at Vuelta. So another mistake. Forgive me I just love Peter and his career so it's painful for me to watch a video in which you want to praise him, but instead you're not right about half the things you mention.
Just think, Peter’s considered great - and he is - with 121 total career wins. But the legendary Sean Kelly retired with 193 victories. He was an amazing one-day racer.
A great rider, lots of fun to watch, but sadly not the "once in a lifetime" rider he could have been. Wish it weren't so, but he lost his fire in the belly in the last few years. He used to energize the sport like few others. What a contrast to Froome ... the devilishly smiling Mister Sparks and Spice compared to the oh so bland Mr. Vanilla.

Best ? No. Smartest in positioning and tacticts ? Yes, he never had major help from his team in the sprints or classics, on the other hand cavendish or ewan need all the other 7 riders to start their sprint. The most fun one ? Yes, he always joked around and had fun unlike some others

Instant disqualification
Looked like an elbow to me
When was that proven? We all see it...
Seriously are you blind or something.
He deserved that. Lol
@@samstraughan9054 I don't. Cavendish is a hack that tries moves like that all the time. Sagan was too big for him.
Peter Sagan is one of my favorite riders of all time
I fell in love with cycling because of Sagan, a true pedal champion
A lot of people did!
Same with me❤
💯🚴💨
If I here Peter Sagan I always have to think of him doing a wheelie uphill with both hands off the bar at the tour de france
Man Žilina is actually 4th biggest town in Slovakia, not a village. He never won a points classification on Vuelta

PETER A GREAT CYCLIST GREAT ENTERTAINER 3 THREE TIMES WORLD CHAMP. IN A ROW.
Peter seem to go downhill and basically fade after he and his wife divorced. Still one of my favorite riders
Eh most riders who stay and win all the time in many races are cleary cheats. Ahem Slovenia.
how good is peter sagan
when you saw ASO change the rule just because sagan dominating the green jersey!!!

not only a great rider a great entertainer for us fans .
Peter Sagan's crazy ability to do everything has simply just transferred to my man Waut Van Aert
Doubt it. But, give it time.
WOUT Van Aert !
I am a big fan of Peter, BUT he has never won a points clasification on Vuelta a Espana.
We’ve noticed some mistakes and we are making sure this won’t happen again, mister Sagan loves coming second!

Him and MvDP are on the to do list! Next up Mark Cavendish and Tadej Pogacar

Didn't Sagan say that he was stepping back from road so he can take one last run at an Olympic MTB medal?
