I loved the game as a kid, but I also haven't played it since I was a kid so I actually didn't remember that book being there at all. It wasn't until the book opened that I gasped, thinking it was a remaster of the OG Paper Mario, and I thought "Holy shit maybe they'll do TTYD as well"
Then they showed Rogueport and I was like HOLY FUCKING SHIT 😂😂😂
So last night me and friend of mine were joking around saying "It'd be great if they did a remake of TTYD, but that'll never happen." And lo and behold, they actually did it. I cried tears of joy seeing this trailer. This game means a lot to me too William and I can't wait for all of us to experience it again!
It's like the guy who jokingly played megalovania at every smash reveal, only for the trailer to play it for him.

Seriously though I'm curious to see what little nuances, changes and QoL they've added. The graphics are one thing, but changing something as unnecessary but welcome as that makes me feel they're gonna polish this game so that it shines brighter than the sun.
The partners (and NPCs) have extra animations/sprites for being surprised. They're so much more expressive now!

I just love seeing people happy and winning.
I know Thousand Year Door is a revered favorite for many fans. I hope they all felt exactly like I did when Super Mario RPG remake was shown after the star covered the screen or when Chrom, Steve & Sora were announced for smash. Me and my kids all screamed every reveal that is just a joy I love seeing Nintendo bring.
Let me tell you, I don't have many feelings about Paper Mario but I looove seeing people super excited about things, so go you!
I'm so happy rn, especialy for those who did not have the chance to play it before. I've played it so many times I can't remember how much, it was one of my first games, I litteraly learned to read with this game. I hope we will make it a success, we have to tell Nintendo that is the kind of Paper Mario we want.

@@quangamershyguyyz7166 I struggle a lot to understand their mind, their decisions are sometimes extremely weird as a company, but all I can say is that I am so happy they decided to fill the post-movie era with rpg and ttyd. Nobody would've predicted that after a decade of ignoring mario as a rpg, and they made the choice to give this games the best commercial era of the mario franchise. that's a complete 180° spin, especially when you consider how Miyamoto and the Mario bros series director pushed so much for "no complex stories" and no "original characters"

Super Paper Mario and The Origami King are underrated. Yes the first two are the best ones but just because SPM and TOK are different did not make them bad. They are tons of fun and very creative.
Sadly, Super Paper Mario doesn’t hold up as well as its predecessors. Not a terrible game, but the RPG mechanics feel really hand-fisted into an otherwise interesting dimension mechanic. Even then, the dimension mechanic can be cumbersome at times. The story is the best in the series though; no doubt.
@@imjustalittleqwerty I disagree agree about it not holding up. I've played the first three games many many times. While I do have a couple of complaints, Super Paper Mario is still just as fun as when it first came out. At least for me.

we never got a replay of xenoblade when that got its definitive edition, but ttyd is also a much smaller task to tackle than that one so there's a chance. i'd watch it!!

And here's a bonus. I started the original version on my Wii U (modded), and haven't gotten back to it. Now I know I need to finish it

I love the first 3 paper Mario games and The Origami King. But this is easily the best one and the best Mario RPG besides Super Mario RPG.
The first 3?! Super too? You are a rarity. Super is where I came in and it’s my favorite story, but I think the game play on TTYD is slightly better.
@@RavenFilms Super Paper Mario is a fantastic game. Its a platformer with RPG elements instead of being an RPG with platformer elements like the first two. Just because it's different doesn't make it a bad game. I love it. I haven't played color splash unfortunately. But Sticker Star isn't bad.. it's just good, not great. By that I mean, I LIKE it but I do not LOVE it. It has too many flaws. Mainly being repetitive. I Loved Origami King despite it being different as well.
@@RavenFilms also. If you haven't played it yet. I highly recommend the game Bug Fables. It's on PC and Switch. Plays exactly like the first two paper Mario games and is on par with them in my opinion.
FINALLY, some people get it, love Origami King.
@@Velvetloss it's a great game. It took some of the experiments from Sticker Star and Color Splash but the gameplay was much better and had plenty of traditional elements as well. Plus the story was fantastic. Very underrated game.

I'm so excited to play this again! I haven't played this game in YEARS. When I was younger, my parents and I had to move across the country to stay with my grandma as she wasn't in good health anymore. Well, my two older brothers stayed behind and it was really difficult adjusting to my first year in middle school, in a new state, no friends and really nobody to turn to. My oldest brother would send me video games and letters and other random stuff in the mail from time to time and he sent me this absolute gem of a game and I remember the happiness it brought me and then not long after (maybe a few months later) he surprised us and came out to live with us and we finally got to play it together. Some of my absolute favorite memories with my brother

This really was such a a surprise reveal. I'm positive most of not all of us had no idea this was going to happen, and 8 months later I can say it's a fantastic remake and cements why it's my absolute favorite Mario game.
I absolutely loved it as well and am excited to replay it dozens of times lol

I’ve been trying to get my hands on this in some way since I lost my Wii in a divorce (which is where I had it)
I looked it up and like a year and a half ago I saw stuff everywhere saying it coming on the Switch in 2024 but none of it was official, but it was like, everywhere. I figured it was fake, and it might have been, but it’s real now!!!!
I’m sooooo excited!!!!! This was my very first turned based RPG (at age 26!) and I gave it a play because I loved Super Paper Mario. Although it’s obviously very different from what my first Paper Mario experience was, it was fantastic! (Unpopular opinion, but I L♡VED SPM, that story was awesome and my first go at a game with any real plot)

I watched a live stream (after I had seen the direct) on another UA-cam channel and the person was really positive through the direct, but then really pretty negative and dismissive after. Shrugged off this game because they'd beaten it before. Then gave the direct the lowest rating they'd ever given to a direct .
Anyway! *I* am excited about Paper Mario and many more games - and I already registered interest for the Zelda amiibo. 🥰❤️💙💚

My body has never been so ready. I'm old, so I bought this game immediately when it released 19 years ago.
I can only hope that high sales on this will prove to Nintendo that we want REAL fucking Paper Mario games and they'll make more instead of the largely mediocre tripe they've been slapping the series name onto.
Nintendo is never gonna make more real Paper Mario games no matter how well this sells. They don’t care about what the fans want. Get fucking over it. I rather they make more games in the style of the modern Paper Mario’s anyway.

I had no reason to expect Atlus/Nintendo to give me remasters of Etrian Odyssey, and yet they did exactly that out of nowhere. I had no reason to expect this game and yet here it is. I don't expect things, but there's no sense in living under a rain cloud and trying to shit on other people's hopes.
I was so pissed to miss this direct live by a few minutes AND to be spoiled on this reveal by a THUMBNAIL... but regardless it's amazing and I've waiting so long to play this masterpiece again

btw, seems they kept the "noose" in that's at the center point after you leave the dock area. Seems Nintendo is not scared to make this a faithful remake. And yeah, are they going to keep in the Peach showering and TEC implied to been "looking at her"? I'm not saying I'm into that kind of thing, but it'd show Nintendo is not scared to make a remake as faithful for original release of the game as possible when the original had content really pushed that "E rating" when having stuff you'd think Nintendo could not get away with in the modern day

They kept the noose in the center of Rougeport, so I would be surprised if they removed the shower scene.
I don't know how I feel about the remixed music though. I'm so worn out of the modern Paper Mario Music. Just hearing that music style reminds me of the years of disappointment of what could have been.
It's my favorite game of all time too. I'm glad to see how faithful it looks.

Seeing that picture book must be how the FFVII fans felt when they announced Cloud for Smash. All it takes is a fraction of a second to know exactly what you're being show. And it is gooood.

I honestly was more expecting this to happen with a GameCube Online service than for them to actually remake it.
I MUCH prefer this option and I can't believe that this is real! This is my number one favorite Mario game of all time, and now I can finally shelve my Wii and put away that one GameCube disc.

The white outlines look perfectly fine and it doesn't surprise me that you of all people would nitpick the hell out of that and be bothered by it. That's hardly anything that should cause you worry lmao, the newer style looks really good.

No it doesn't. It makes the character sprites/models/whatever stand out too much from the rest of the world. It makes it look less like they're part of the world and more that they've just been plopped in. It's immersion-breaking and jarring. And in the case of the SS Trilogy, it's just another problem with a series of bad games with TONS of issues. Death By A Thousand Cuts. The sheer amount of flaws just makes each stand out more (like the outlines do to the characters) and be more of a problem than they should be.

Yes it does, it makes the characters, sprites, and models all feel like they're apart of the rest of the world even more. It doesn't look like they've been plopped into the world with the white outline at all and it's really sad to see how pathetic some of you people are with this. It further immerses and isn't the slightest bit jarring, there isn't a SS Trilogy bud there's a new game trilogy. The series aren't bad games at all and none of them have a TON of issues or even a lot.

The problem is not TTYD's price, it's MP remastered's. $40 was crazy, because they wanted to continue to make people discover Metroid after Metroid Dread, to make them ready for MP4 and what comes next. That's the only reason, I think, MP remastered was so underpriced
