  • We love Minecraft and so we decided to make a Diamond epoxy sword as a prop.
    The Process:
We started by making molds for the epoxy blanks. Once the molds were made we mixed the epoxy and added pigments to it to shade it to the right color. (see links below) While the epoxy cured, we prepared the wood we used. Walnut, redwood, and maple were chosen since we had some on hand. With the wood ready to be planes, we de-molded the resin so that we could joint and plane the blanks. We ran every thing through the planner to make it all squared up. We then cut all the squares on the table saw. We used two part epoxy to glue it all together and finished it all up with some clear lacquer. Side note, the epoxy we used in this project was not the right one for the job. We should have used slow cure epoxy. Safety note:
Always wear a mask if you sand or cut epoxy. Fumes are not fun!
