Homemade Three Man Tandem Bicycle | A Freak Bike inspired by Laura's Beastbike

- We made a three man freak bike!! After watching one of Laura Kampf's freak bikes, my son told me he wanted a bike that "Mom, Daddy, and me" could ride together. This is what we came up with.
We started by gathering a bunch of bikes from friends. Most of them were rusted and in bad shape. We were able to find a city bike, a mountain bike, and a toddler bike. We decided to put the toddler bike in the middle so that most of the weight would be towards the tires of each outer bike. Since we do not have a lot of experience welding, we opted for bolts and steel bars as the main support for the build. We started by welding the front pivot points of the two inner bikes fast so as to keep them from moving. We then welded bolts to the forks of the bikes at each attachment point. That completed the limited welding needed. We then drilled holes in all the bikes as well as some steel bars so that we could install braces. We rand long bolts through the forks of each bike and through the top bars and tightened everything. We then finished it all with a coat of paint. it took four chains to make the pan needed!!

Safety Notes:
The guard was not installed on the grinder I was using. . . Never do this! Always use the provided safety measure. Kids should be supervised in the shop at all times. My son and I make sure all power tools he uses are unplugged.

May want to look into the rims if you plan on riding it often. I’m fairly sure tandems use way more robust rims to handle the extra weight.
