Hello, I've seen a few of your videos, I praise and really appreciate the detailed and well-sorted information, even with additional explanations, eg., about salaries in Turkey, etc. The food in good hotels and, of course, street food was always good here; sometimes there was a problem with the staff at the hotel, but if you've bad luck, this can happen everywhere. Hi I enjoyed the video and I look forward to watching the others you have made You say Turkey has some of the best food in the world and then eat Indian/Chinese/Italian/Spanish and English (fish & chips). Interesting. Away from the resorts of the Aegean and Med, in the real Turkey where I live, dining out is not an option, mainly because of lack of variety (kebab, kebab or kebab?) but also cost. For every hour you work I have to work 10 hours - I am paid in Turkish lira - so a holiday in Fethiye is beyond the means of a regular Turkish person. I am not having a go and it's good that you pinned a comment that these prices are too much for average Turkish people. By the way, I live in the place where you say they produce the best ice-cream in the world. You are very welcome to come visit!
On two separate trips to Istanbul, both about 10 days, every single meal was remarkable. I went back three times to one place, 'Çukur Meyhane' (near the Galatasaray school) - because the food was so good, it almost brought tears to my eyes (maybe it was the Raki?). And for profiteroles (cream puffs in fudge sauce), a famous place called 'Inci' - I almost couldn't speak after one bite of those. I don't usually want desserts, but I had two big portions. I love the tea, of course, and drank the fresh orange juice all day long- I grew up on orange juice in California, and Turkish orange juice is like a taste of heaven. The best part is that the food was so fresh and nutritious as well- I feel so healthy when I am there, even if I eat too much! Yes, this video was a little bit of torture, but thank you!!!
Excellent video. As a foreigner looking at new places in the world,I am always thinking “ This place looks beautiful I wonder how affordable is it? Whether it be Hotels, eating out or the prospect of real estate in the case on contemplating a relocation. Unfortunately for most people in the world cost of living whether it be for a holiday or a permanent move is an important consideration. Thanks again for the wonderful work you both do.
Omg miss turkey this year so much thank you for that lovely video I was eating that with ye😁😁😁 in last restaurant omg food is fab in Turkey always ....afiyet olsun Mick amca n Trudy X love from Ireland 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Actually it is a little bit strange , although the lira has lost of its value over the last 8 years but still the prices are cheap, it means Turkey business are not changing the local prices according to the exchange rate , and as I can see still you are receiving the same quality of service and the same quality of food. Any other country if the exchange rate will drop then immediately the goods prices and services will go up to compensate the difference in the exchange rate. If the Goods and service prices are not going up then maybe that is why life is as usual for Turkish people. I can understand that any thing that is imported from outside Turkey definitely will go up , but luckily a wonderful country like Turkey has every thing.
"Any other country if the exchange rate will drop then immediately the goods prices and services will go up to compensate the difference in the exchange rate" No, it depends on how much said country relies on import to provide its services and products. If your locals foods are imported, the price will hike up as inflation hits and the national coin devalues because international trading becomes more expensive to the country in question. Turkey is one of the few self sufficient countries on the planet because of their extremely rich farm land and good soil, they simply don't rely on foreign trade for food so their food market isn't affected as much as a country who relies on importation to feed its people.
For ten years me and the wife always did Greece and Spain..then kids came along and so did the Euro,..then it got very expensive so we decided to try turkey even though we'd Heard bad things.... outcome.... never been to Spain or Greece since... turkey is a fabulous place, people, food, weather.... definitely get your money's worth, and if you get good service it's hard not to leave a tip..👍👍👍
@@serenityinside1 really????? So if you had poor service (which unfortunately happens all over the world) you would still leave a tip???... who's the ignoramus here...????
For anyone who has been to Turkey, this is especially enticing and just plain torture, because we know just how good the food is when you describe it! Watching this over breakfast of crispbread, sardines and tea....how sad!!! Kolay gelsin!🌷🌷

You two are a delight! Thank you so much for all the information. My wife and I are coming in March and would love to meet up to learn more about Turkey.
The prices in resort towns like Fethiye are usually more pricey but you have access to lots of different cuisines. If people are feeling adventurous cities like Gaziantep and Antakya have some of the best turkish food and cost a lot less. For somewhere inbetween a city like Mersin could be worth exploring, it has the usual beaches, all in one hotels but also very good local prices and food.
You have been treading in my footsteps in Fethiye, I love it. My favourite place is Kalkan, eating out there was a bit expensive, but now older & looking back to Olu Deniz, Fethiye & other places, Kaş & Kalkan. I remember my 1st visit to Turkey was to Armutalan it was not built yet, there were plots being built, our hotel which was amazing & a local restaurant which was amazing. Your reviews are excellent, I am not as mobile as I once was. One day, I say to myself. Albanian Liver - I love it my friend. Take care & continue.
Clearly as an Aussie I can 3x my lifestyle living in Turkey. The citizenship-by-investment house purchase for USD250000 is looking better every video of yours that I watch. I'm becoming addicted. cheers
2:58 it is albanian liver but albanians in albania dont know about that lol. during the nationalist wars in balkans in 19th century, the albanian/turk refugees who migrated to istanbul started to prepare a special type of liver and made it popular in istanbul and turkey. so if you go and ask albanian liver in tirana they say they dont know about it :)
A few years ago I went to Istanbul on business. I was taken out to dinner and ordered a fish stew. It was very good and the sources used were spot on. A member of our party
Hi Ian - After watching this video, I want to visit Turkey. Is it safe for Americans now? What towns would be best to see like this video - ? Thanks for your suggestions!
@@travelguy1564 Hi we were just in kas and met an American lady who's partner was Turkish they were staying in Kalkan. Fethiye area Inc calis Oludeniz hisaronu. Kas and Kalkan are beautiful but are a bit more expensive. Fethiye has the harbour for boat trips around the inlets. Hisaronu is on a plateau has shops clubs and restaurants at night the main street is for pedestrians. Oludeniz also has shops restaurants a beach but also has the blue lagoon for a small charge to enter. Watch Micks video on food and prices that's useful. I can't comment on Bodrum or Mamaris as they are cities and we are not city people. Mick does videos on them also. You can send messages on Micks threads to ask his opinion about how safe it is for Americans, for us we have the outlook is anywhere safe but be polite show respect and we receive the same back. I'm also ex military so I'm always aware of my surroundings as my wife rolls her eyes but no harm just being aware of what's going on around you. As far as I can tell after a year this area is safe for westerners. I have asked Mick questions and he has got back to me. Any other questions ask away anytime if I can help I will.

Eating out is expensive everywhere - for locals. It seems to be cheap for English when directly compared to UK prices. When you factor in all other costs related to a trip, it may come up pricier. The only thing you get for free are memories.

i'm 33 and retired, i have lived in antalya for the past 2 years and just moved to istanbul due to my wife's family is situated in istanbul. while it is true that these durum and chorba i always get (keli paca) is insanely affordable(for foreigners), once you go to more fancy places, you're pretty much looking at applebees or outback steakhouse prices. i had a friend from cali visiting me, and our balik dinner came out to about 1100 lira, which translates to 130 bucks due to the 1:8 conversion at the time.

FANTASTIC value (and that's in the tourist traps too)!!!
Tell us about it
Excellent video.

Hard ? You should always leave a tip - ignoramus!!🙄
@@serenityinside1 really????? So if you had poor service (which unfortunately happens all over the world) you would still leave a tip???... who's the ignoramus here...????
Love turkey, Turkish culture and the people. ❤️ from London. Great informative video. 👍
Thanks Mick and Trudie! Appreciate these informative videos, hoping to head back to Turkey very soon! :)
Due to currency loosing like 4x of its value since 8 years ago today virtually everything is dirt cheap in Turkey….
And that's proberbly the real reason they put Turkey on the red list.

So sad to see the currency has nosedived since I lived there. In 2008, the economy had so much promise. The cuisine is absolutely superlative. Patlıcan dishes were the best in the world.
Thanks Mick and Trudie! We're in Fethiye right now and walked to one of your recommended restaurants for a great dinner!
The food is of high standard, healthy, tasty and cheap....the food is underated in Turkey...love my cheese/spinach gozeleme.....Alot to see in Turkey !!!! Loved Istanbul....
You're spot on. I don't think that there is another place on planet like Turkey when it comes to the nutrient variety and taste.
Thanks for the great video. I am going to Istanbul in October, followed by a 6 week trip down the west coast, to Gazientap, Cappadocia, and back to Istanbul. Can't wait! Thanks for your useful information.
Mick amca, tebrikler harika sunum... Çok iyi tanıtım yapıyorsun... samimiyetinle iyi nabız tutuyorsun... Selamlar
I like your style of price reviews..no messing around right to the price.👍👍
Thank you for making Turkey known to the world!
Just subscribed, love your guys videos on how informative they are!!
Brilliant video as always. The patisserie at 7:00 reminded me of Cafe Karen in Marmaris, fabulous cakes and ridiculously cheap!
Brilliant video guys! Great team! 💯 😎
Thanks for showing the prices in dollars as well.
I'm becoming addicted. cheers
Love you guys, it's just great to watch you two do your thing. Martin from London UK.
Interesting 🤠

We feel for anybody that wants to come to Turkey and the fethiye area. My wife and I moved here 11 months ago to retire its an amazing place to live
@@ianreid Thanks so much for your reply, Ian. Your information is very helpful so I will research these places more and watch Micks videos as well. I am also a retired U.S. Air Force Officer so watch myself when in other countries. Thanks again and maybe I will get back to you with other thoughts, if you don't mind. Take care!

Perfect time just now to be buying Lira, another great video. Hopefully get back to Turkey when all this carry on is over.
The perfect time to buy lira is right before you spend it as it has only been dropping for quite some time now.
High purchasing power brings joy and happiness. Great videos & continue enjoying Turkey 👍
Fethiye is a hot touristic spot.
So prices in regular places can go down to half if not more.
Price & quality.

Since the SS income is not enough to live in the US (unless you have saved in 401K), living in Turkey could be a great alternative. Besides, most European countries are only 2 to 3 hour flight away.
Really excellent video again Mick and Trudie. Thank you. Still hoping to get out there soon. I bet it was rather enjoyable for yee making this one lol.
Eating out is expensive everywhere - for locals. It seems to be cheap for English when directly compared to UK prices. When you factor in all other costs related to a trip, it may come up pricier. The only thing you get for free are memories.
You two are a wonderful couple, and very lucky to live that life of adventures.Cheers!
I would recommend showing the town you are talking about on a Map of Turkey 😊👍🍻
Looks like it's Fethiye
I have to say that your both so professional, far more that main stream TV travel programmes. So natural in presenting and so interesting. BUT! Mick, I have never seen a pizza being eaten with a knife and fork 🙂
So delicious food with Mick Uncle presentation,
i'm 33 and retired, i have lived in antalya for the past 2 years and just moved to istanbul due to my wife's family is situated in istanbul. while it is true that these durum and chorba i always get (keli paca) is insanely affordable(for foreigners), once you go to more fancy places, you're pretty much looking at applebees or outback steakhouse prices. i had a friend from cali visiting me, and our balik dinner came out to about 1100 lira, which translates to 130 bucks due to the 1:8 conversion at the time.
