Hi, great video. Thank you:) I bought zv-e10 and its nice little camera. 4k superb for my use, but i also noticed, that 1080 60fps is very bad. I watched your video and i did few tests too. I found that 120fps 100M is better than 60fps. I think that the super 35mm mod is the problem. 120fps doesnt have this super35mm and the video is better and more usable. I think.. With just a touch of sharpening in post and its much better. Thank you again, big fan :)

very cool video Mark. I'm exploring the benefits of 1080p, after using 4K for last 7 years or so. Benefits like: faster editing, faster uploads etc. Personally I think the 1080p looks good enough. plus as you get older, you really don't want those rinkles showing. :)
I shoot in 1080 P for the same reasons, and plus most people that are consuming UA-cam content are watching it on a small screen anyway which you can’t tell the difference between 1080 P or 4K, both of them look great.
I am new to shooting video and photography, so your videos have been a big help. I just picked up the ZV e-10 as a starter camera, and the problem is the rolling shutter. In 4k, even with a gimbal and catalyst browse, the camera is unusable with any fast movement. Shooting in 1080 24p 50 gives a nice cinematic look and you can whip the camera around pretty hard without noticing the rolling shutter. A nicer lens makes a difference too. The Sigma 30mm F1.4 does a great job with clarity of image, when compared to the kit lens, but is a bit close for outdoor running and cropping later. I wish I would have known more about the different aspects of cameras and lenses before buying the ZV-e10. I am shooting mostly footage of outdoor shooting, with people moving around quickly. The A7SIII, or the FX3 would have done more of what I am looking for because of the rolling shutter fixes, but they are very expensive. Now I have to sell a kidney so I can get one.
I shot in 4k for the first time yesterday at church! What a world of difference! I wanted to see if my Mac M1 could handle it. Handled it with no problems. I will be shooting 4k from now on 😂
The Difference in sharpness is striking and is apparent even when viewing in 720 mode. The 1080 in those tests seems botderline unusable. The 100mbs/ 60 mbs test is very useful.

Good morning, Mark! my questions: Q1) @ 1:55min The setting on 4k at 60mbps at which framerate? Q2) And does these setting apply also on the A7 IV? Best greeting from germany. I Have a laptop i7 12th Gen - 16GB 512GB storage . The 12th Gen from 2021.

Great video. I would love to know if your have any tips on sharpening up the 1080p or if that may be something you would consider for a later video. I shoot classes that run for 2 to 3 hours so use 1080p at 16 Mbps to keep file sizes down. Swapping out the kit lens for the Sigma 16mm f1.4 or Sony 24mm f1.8 sharpened things up a bit. I’ve also turned up sharpening in camera and that seems to help. But I don’t have the technical skills to compare the footage like you do in this video. I just wonder if there’s anything else that can help sharpen 1080p? For shorter length videos, your tip of switching out the 1080p 50 to 4K 60 makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately my machine may not be up to 4K editing and I can’t spring for an Adobe Premiere Pro subscription. Would be interested to know if there are ‘cheap’ alternatives for the PC that can do proxy editing. I’m currently using Adobe Premiere Elements that doesn’t support it.
Sharpening in post is way better/safer. You'll have far more granular control and adjustability. Anything 'in-camera' is baked in and you are stuck with it. I shoot as clean as possible and sharpen all my dslr footage in post, this includes Canons and Panasonic GH5.
There is a slight crop in 30p. And the 30p is a smoother video - more like a soap opera, but the 24p is more like a movie - different amount of motion blur, basically
The most important reason to shot 4k- not have noise in any values of ISO and u can shoot slog2 in low light and receive a more better picture then ppoff and dynamic range)
Hi Mark, really thank you for this content. To achieve this quality in OBS, do you just use the camera's micro HDMI input + capture card? Is anything more necessary? I saw that USB C limits recording to 720, via Micro HDMI + Capture Card I can get 4k? Thanks!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Perfect! One more question: are your most recent videos recorded with the ZV E10? I'm excited to see more content from you talking about her. I'm going to marathon, directly from Brazil.
Hello Nice video, I have a question about the Mark1 in 4k will it do 60fps? thanks, and in your explanation it said 800mb per MIN, did you mean per second? thanks, becuase screen had a text display, but your voice said something else like per sec....
Thanks for the comparison. I wanted to shoot at 1080p 60fps as most people watch videos in mobile screen anyway. After seeing your video I guess there is no way to get good quality at 60fps in zve10 .
Thank you. Could you please advise us which 4k codecs are easy for computer to edit and which are difficult: for a7iv and canon R6. I edit in davinci resolve.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis agree...i am also starting out on video editing and like so many other people out there. I also looked up to the Internet to find some reliable information and suggestions. The most important solution that I came across and that is stuck to me is that I can choose to begin editing, learning with a simpler software such as shortcut, which I have used sometimes. But if we are really serious about video editing then it's better to start with the proper software editors such as. Davinci Resolve or Adobe premiere. These offers are much more advanced and they might take some little getting used to, but it will be better in the long run as compared to starting out with a software which is much less basic or beginner friendly as people call it and then switching over to a more advanced. Between Adobe and Devinci, since Devinci is free, that is what I naturally inclined towards. So please make tutorials on Davinci Resolve. It would be a delight to have you as our teacher. 😇😇😇
I love to shot at 4K.. but on ZVE-10 only capable shot 4K at 30fps.. how we can get a slow-mo footage on 4K while using ZVE-10.. thank you Sir, hope you answer my questions
You would shoot slow motion in 1080 on the ZV-E10 (120 fps). I do it all the time and it looks good. If you want to shoot slow motion in 4K - you’ll need a much more expensive camera like the A7S3 or Canon R5 or GH6
I guess for stationary video with movements like your own video 4K30fps would be fine, but for anything in motion or even basic movements the 1080p at60-100fps is ideal?
Opting in high frame rates like 60 or 120 is really used for slowing the footage down in post for slow motion. When shooting normally, 4k24 pr 30 would be best
Dr. MARK, great advice thank you. I have a beginner issue. Indoor filming like this video of yours, zv-e10 on manual, when I turn my head from center to left or right the light setting changes and video becomes way dark, and bright again until I turn, dark again, where is the setting to lock the light setting please? Is it exposure I am taking about? 🐧thank you, and by the way I see your eyes as BLUE
Make sure your ISO is not on AUTO. Set it to 100. Keep your white balance on "daylight" unless your lights are not daylight balanced. If you're on manual aperture and shutter speed and you do those things, your exposure won't change.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis that worked perfectly! Thank you so much. Your advise is so valuable! I had about 6 conversations with Sony india, they told me this camera has not such feature 😐 I genuinely appreciate your support, you definitely deserve more Apple juice!!! Can I send you some? I want to add that I first had setting to 4k, but I was shocked to see into my pores, I then massed around with the setting trying to get it a bit less sharp. Not everyone looks as gorgeous as you. 🙈
Is it possible that the default picture profile sharpness is optimized for the 4k to prevent it getting over sharpen that sharpness is set to -7 or something that making the 1080p go too soft ?!
The picture profiles are the same in 1080 or 4K including amount of sharpening. The 4K is much sharper because it’s downsampled from 6k to use the full sensor. The 1080 is line skipped. You’d be much better off shooting in 4k and putting it in a 1080 timeline if you want to output in 1080
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis for vlog and talking head and other stuff the 4k is grate but for sports like basketball or baseball they pass the ball tracking fast moving subjects 1080 60fps is a lot better with rolling shutter and can be slowed down i like the zve10 want to know if is possible to get a better 1080 out of the camra messing with the picture profile i want to switch form canon to sony 😅 trying to figure out if i can get similar 1080 out of the camera to the canon. Hi Mark! I'm going to shoot a safari this summer and I'm hesitating: 1080 and 100fps (and do slow motion in post) or 4k and 25fps. What would you do if you filmed a safari? Thank you!
4k for sure. The footage will look better. BUT use the slow motion at times. It is cool and will add variety. It's not hard to switch back and forth between the two. You can just use the S&Q function on the ZV--E10 when you want super fast switching. Or set 100fps to your custom memory and switch that way.
Hi, just need a suggestion do you recommend sony zv e10 over canon eos rp in 2022 for a beginner who is not in either of the ecosystem and is learning both photography and videography?
The Canon RP is probably the way to go because you get a full frame photo camera with evf. You’ll have to shoot 1080 on the canon for video because the 4K has bad autofocus and a huge crop, but the 1080 is really good on the Canon
Man, that sucks...especially those after higher FPS for slow-mo.
DaVinci Resolve is free and overall the best editing program you can use. Watch a few tutorials and you’ll be up and running 👍
Sharpening in post is way better/safer. You'll have far more granular control and adjustability. Anything 'in-camera' is baked in and you are stuck with it. I shoot as clean as possible and sharpen all my dslr footage in post, this includes Canons and Panasonic GH5.
I just got this camera and my files are 28.56 GB. Can you please help me lower it?
Try shooting with 4k 60M instead of 100M
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis k i'll try. i changed it 24/60m. thank you
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I changed it & not it’s 21 gb instead of 28. Is that normal?
How different is the 4K 24fps vs 4K 30fps?
There is a slight crop in 30p. And the 30p is a smoother video - more like a soap opera, but the 24p is more like a movie - different amount of motion blur, basically
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I meant on quality, is there any difference in sharpness and detail?
Is it possible to do video sony zv e 10 + kitlens
Hey Mark, does the ZVE-10 have sunny weather monitor settings available when filming in 4K? My zv-1 greys out sunny weather when filming in 4K
Zv-e10 lets you do the sunny weather mode in 4k, yes
Thank you so very much, God bless you
Thanks good comparison! Do that proxy video! 🙌🙌
The most important reason to shot 4k- not have noise in any values of ISO and u can shoot slog2 in low light and receive a more better picture then ppoff and dynamic range)
Who designed your background music? I love it!
Hi Mark, really thank you for this content. To achieve this quality in OBS, do you just use the camera's micro HDMI input + capture card? Is anything more necessary? I saw that USB C limits recording to 720, via Micro HDMI + Capture Card I can get 4k? Thanks!
yes - if you get a 4k capture card like the Elgato Camlink 4K - you'll get full 4K quality through the HDMI
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Perfect! One more question: are your most recent videos recorded with the ZV E10? I'm excited to see more content from you talking about her. I'm going to marathon, directly from Brazil.
thank u for this therapy Dr.
i want to buy a camera for content creating ...zv-e10 vs m6ii ...which of these do you recommend based video quality?
Hello Nice video, I have a question about the Mark1 in 4k will it do 60fps? thanks, and in your explanation it said 800mb per MIN, did you mean per second? thanks, becuase screen had a text display, but your voice said something else like per sec....
Does 4k 60mbps has less rolling shutter than 4k 100mbps?
Thanks for the comparison. Is it true that blue eyes turn grey when you get older?
That’s what my kids tell me. 🤣
I'm watching this video through my ZV-E10. I have no idea how I did this!
tape the sens game for me
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I'm going to have to erase these old Muppet Show tapes first
@@landonbailey don’t lose them - burn them onto some 8-tracks
Thanks for the comparison. I wanted to shoot at 1080p 60fps as most people watch videos in mobile screen anyway. After seeing your video I guess there is no way to get good quality at 60fps in zve10 .
yeah - the 1080 is not great
How do you use the proxies from the camera in Davinci Resolve? Thanks!
sir is it possible to provide a download link for the 1080 p footage
please
Thank you. Could you please advise us which 4k codecs are easy for computer to edit and which are difficult: for a7iv and canon R6. I edit in davinci resolve.
amazing video
This comparison was really interesting! Please do the proxy tutorial, I've never heard of that before.
I use DaVinci Resolve for editing.
DaVinci has a fantastic proxy workflow. check out some tutorials on it while you wait for mine 😁
The comparison is very interesting, do you think that the 1080p of the 6400 is equal to or better than that of the zve-10¿
It has the same processor and sensor - so it will be exactly the same as the zv-e10 👍
But what if I want both slow motion and sharpness..is there a work around?
not really, but slow motion seems to work better with the softer type images, I find. it has a dreamy, floaty effect.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis ok..thank you
I guess for stationary video with movements like your own video 4K30fps would be fine, but for anything in motion or even basic movements the 1080p at60-100fps is ideal?
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you so much , will try !
I have one more issue which I am sure is a kindergarten matter for you.
When I film and transfer the file to filmora it is slower than normal speed, I think it's half speed. FOR NOW I Just speeded up the footage to double but I would like to figure out how to avoid that for next filming. Can you help please???
I want to add that I first had setting to 4k, but I was shocked to see into my pores, I then massed around with the setting trying to get it a bit less sharp. Not everyone looks as gorgeous as you. 🙈
Its not available in the market, make a video on alternatives of ZVE-10, please
ZV1 video coming tomorrow - a good alternative. But I will try to make a full dedicated video.
Do a video explaining your computer setup, parts, CPU, etc.
ha - pretty simple - I just have a 2019 iMac and an M1 MacBook Air. Can edit everything on my A7iv just fine.
After that i upscale to 4k i believe the canon 1080 is also line skipped. thanks for the great content your eyes are gorgeous 😅👍🏻
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks. I just discovered a trick to make slow-mo recording at 25fps, with the "optical flow" in Premiere. Did you try it?
Hi, just need a suggestion do you recommend sony zv e10 over canon eos rp in 2022 for a beginner who is not in either of the ecosystem and is learning both photography and videography?
The Canon RP is probably the way to go because you get a full frame photo camera with evf. You’ll have to shoot 1080 on the canon for video because the 4K has bad autofocus and a huge crop, but the 1080 is really good on the Canon
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you for your help💫 and you are great 💥
Why a proxy files not recording with the same picture profile*?
the proxy file will be identical except smaller.
Man, that sucks...especially those after higher FPS for slow-mo. Just acquired the ZV-E10 last month as a major upgrade and seeing this was a glass-shattering moment after filming test shots at 1080p60/120.
With that said, thanks for being a helpful deciding factor in my impulse purchase and ticket into the Sony and mirrorless world!
the 120 looks good to me because softer footage goes well with the dreamy look. but for regular shooting, I would use 4K for sure
zve 10 have useless 1080p footage it not just soft but it is MUSHY also
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis i think you are paid by sony .... there is a difference between soft cinematic & Mushy looking footage
