Hiram Bullock Tribute Strat build test 1

- Hey friends! Not a review or anything like that. But I though some of y'all might find this interesting. A quick & dirty initial test of a Strat build based (somewhat loosely) on Hiram Bullock's iconic '63/'61, with H/S/H pups and plenty of wear (it was almost bare by the time he passed). Still swapping out necks and trying different wiring configurations. HB used VVT, where the second V was just the middle, and after getting this thing together and playing a bit, I can see where that would be useful. I think a treble bleed cap on the 'buckers might be good with this configuration...but we'll see. Definitely it's own kinda thing, just like Hiram. One of the best to ever do it. Little bit of HB's "Window Shopping" up top there, although I think he used some kind of phaser...I just threw a chorus on there for some wonderfully awful 80s modulation love. Otherwise, just noodles.
Cool sounds and guitar. Thanks for showing some love to the amazing Hiram Bullock! I had the honor of seeing him here in Cleveland playing with Miles Davis and in NYC playing a club gig with Will Lee. Such an exciting and inspiring player!
I was thinking about a Hiram Strat myself or the Zappa/Hendrix Strat. I loved Hiram when he was on the Sanborn show. RIP
Nice to see some appreciation for Hiram, not on too many peoples radar. Thank You
He has such a large legacy wiki him Great player!! Was privileged to see him live!
Sounds really good. I’m not a relic guy it would be cool in a natural stain.
That’s a sweet build!
I’ve always wanted a Hiram Strat since the David Sanborn Show.
Nice “wear” on the finish! (Electric sander?)
It sounds great!
I built a Hendrix/Zappa replica (suggestive?) Strat. I want to do a demo of some day….
Anyways I’m subbing.
I don’t know any of the playing he did outside of the Letterman Show, but from what I remember, this sounds very close.
Very very cool
Some hiram bullock strat build finally!
This guy blows Stevie ray away
Great Channel Great Content.......
" YAOW ! "
No parts list?
Afraid it was a while back...I think it was an Allen Eden body (I usually make everything in-house, but IIRC they had a sale and it was literally cheaper than the lumber). Pickups and custom wired guard were from www.dragonfireguitars.com/main.sc who did a phenomenal job. That's about all I recall.
