I have a question. I use Touch OSC with Widi Master wireless midi into my ipad to control the 600 on the fly. The issue I have is with an assign for "cur.trk num". I want 6 buttons on my OSC screen 1-6 so i can make any of the trks the current trk easily. This reduces the number of assigns I need to use overall . I just can't get it to work. I have tried various different value formats in the "scale" fields in Touch OSC but to no avail. (Midi channel and cc controller number constant). Do you have any thoughts?
Unfortunately that's not my area of expertise! I would presume it has something to do with the battery but honestly I don't know what I'm talking about with something like that.
Man that was awesome! Seriously! I am trying to find a purpose for my iPad 3rd generation besides reading for quite some time and that was a great one ❤ thanks for the vid
Hey @slacker stuff, thanks so much for the video! Would you be able to do an updated video with the latest version of TouchOSC? I tried following along but just couldn't get it to work as the UI and settings are very different now. Thanks!
I have a iPad 1 32gb which I got from my uncle in 2012. I used that iPad from 2012-2018 Even tho I got a iPad mini 1 in 2017 which I used until 2021. I was little when I got that iPad 1 but it’s probably one of the most used iPad 1’s in the world
So this tells us how to re-purpose an old iPad as a sort of special purpose keyboard to control various bits of software. I don't have a Mac. I use AutoHotkey on my PC which enables quite easy use of the keyboard to do a lot of stuff.
Once this is set up, it's actually triggering the Keyboard Maestro macro twice (which you can see in the video around 5:15). What's the fix for this to make it only trigger once? I clicked "Try" in Keyboard Maestro and it only opens once, so it's *only* happening when using the iPad as a midi controller. In TouchOSC Editor, I created a push button, set it to "send on press" and configured it to send a note. In KM, I set up a macro to launch a URL in a new Safari tab. When I tap the push button in TouchOSC, it creates two tabs with the same URL.
Oh good spot! So I just went in and tried it out again (I was having issues with this) and if you look at the drop down menu to the right of the box where you input the note: change it from "is pressed" to "is down" and that SHOULD fix it. Let me know if it does or does not!
@@SlackerStuff That actually causes an un-ending number of new tabs to open up in Safari for me. I have to disable the macro in KM to get it to stop. I replaced the "New Tab in Safari" action in KM with "Play Sound "Pop"" so my system won't crash. It really does appear to be infinitely triggered.
@@tdeniston Ah that's not a fun situation, Tim. I know Keyboard Maestro has support you can contact. @@SlackerStuff I think I figured it out. In the TouchOSC Bridge setting within the iPad app, I had "Allow USB Connection" enable _and_ Network Host had my Mac's IP address. I think this was causing it to send multiple times (once over each connection type). The documentation for these apps don't really state what happens when both of those settings are populated. Bro thanx for this..I am from India...I want to install this but it shows this all available for iOS 9 or higher version how to do that and download touch osc and I am on windows..what to do bro. Plz help me
Hey happy to try and help you. I do not own a windows computer so I am not entirely sure what needs to be done. If your iPad is not able to update to the version required for the software then I don't believe this will be available for you.

My ipad isn't charging and not displaying anything on the screen any fixes?
Unfortunately that's not my area of expertise! I would presume it has something to do with the battery but honestly I don't know what I'm talking about with something like that.
Man that was awesome! Seriously! I am trying to find a purpose for my iPad 3rd generation besides reading for quite some time and that was a great one ❤ thanks for the vid
Hey @slacker stuff, thanks so much for the video! Would you be able to do an updated video with the latest version of TouchOSC? I tried following along but just couldn't get it to work as the UI and settings are very different now. Thanks!
I'd be happy to. Let me take a look this weekend and see what I can come up with.
Underrated channel!!
Thanks, James! Happy you think so.
I have a iPad 1 32gb which I got from my uncle in 2012. I used that iPad from 2012-2018 Even tho I got a iPad mini 1 in 2017 which I used until 2021. I was little when I got that iPad 1 but it’s probably one of the most used iPad 1’s in the world
oh right on!
Is there macros for audio production? Like something that's like a mixer set up?
So this tells us how to re-purpose an old iPad as a sort of special purpose keyboard to control various bits of software. I don't have a Mac. I use AutoHotkey on my PC which enables quite easy use of the keyboard to do a lot of stuff.
Stupid question, is it possible to use an iPad as a keyboard and trackpad for another iPad?
They were kind enough to comment on this video to make a correction for me so that could be an option you go down. Unfortunately if it's an OSC issue, you might be SOL as I'm not sure TouchOSC is very active anymore. Hope you can find some help there.
Looking good now, though! Thanks for the inspiration!
@@tdeniston That's fantastic! I think I probably could have done a better job of going over that. Thank you for the explanation! I'm sure that will be helpful for other folks as well.
Heres the biggest iPad advice I could give anyone. Download all the apps you would ever need or use right away on the iPad you have now. This way, when it ends up going obsolete 10 years down the road, you will already have all the apps you need downloaded. Sure some of them might not work, but most of them still will.
that's exactly what I've done, and I have a backup of those apps on my A1181 Black MacBook.
Or, just don't buy ewaste in the first place.
Great advice
I see a nice use for my 3D printer interface in the near future using this mod! Thank you very much!!!

I still have to wrap my head around this, but it's very cool in theory. Subscribed. Would you please explain why I would use the app you mention. I almost understand why I would use it. Lol

Yes, in terms of a few examples, but also intrigued by using this as a speedy controller for another machine. I run a Mac Mini M1 Chip 32 GB (Late 2020) , Model MGNR3LL/A . My iPad Mini 2 is model A1490 Wi-Fi + Cellular. I do a lot of writing, and am getting into Python and SQL, and programming with AI. Web programming is very tedious too. I also use an iPad Pro.
