  • Nearly a Cecil B. DeMille production . . . I managed to involve all my tools, still putting them away now . . .

Thanku , just done my h/brake cables.. the cables sit in tubes under the car, can be a little tight to twist out, mowl grips do it.. careful not to break the tube clips...

    Evening Derek
Another fine piece of Derek engineering there completing this job.
A royal pain gettting those handbrake cables out in the cab, but as you found out they do pop out eventually.
Shame we didn't see the end of the job, but fingers crossed all is well. You may have to av a few attempts at bleeding the system, but I guess you done that in the parts we didn't see due to your battery issues on your camera.
    A job well done.
Hope ya self & Freda are all ok.
Stay lucky. Stay safe. Stay healthy.

Somebody had squeezed the clamp. Those ends should have popped right out. A five minute job at best. Took an hour.

I wanted to see how you take up the slack in the cable but you don’t show that. I have a 207 that the handbrake is all the way up before biting. Can’t seem to find a way to adjust it.

I have handbrake cables to do on my 207, first look it looked really difficult, until I saw your video and those handly little tubes that the cable runs in under the car, what a great idea. I am now about to pull one side and have just ordered a new pair so they will be here in a couple of days. cheers for the video.

Happy to help! The handbrake cable attachment inside the car was the worst bit because it had been crushed.

Thanks for the upload! I'm attempting my first shoe replacement tomorrow and already feel like I know what I'm up against. Quick question, you don't happen to know what the purpose of the spring near where the handbrake attaches do you? Mine is absent. Is it important?

Do you mean the little plastic bit? If so, it's there to stop the nipple cable ends from falling out

Hello Derek, some job to do. The worst set of brake shoes I have replaced, were on the rear of a 1969 Peugeot 404 I owned. Was used to working on Morris Minors and Triumph Heralds then. Will join you for the next episode. Not working in my shed today, as the forcast is for 40C today, but tomorrow should be mid 20's with possible rain.

Hi Keith! French stuff, it's terrible. I knew it would be a pain. And it was!

Really grateful you uploaded this because i noticed that i put the Green Spring on the wrong way round.
To get the drum off was a fight. I kept beating it with a lump hanmer & pry bar but it would not budge so i bought a 5 leg drum puller from Amazon UK which done the trick but it broke the wheel bearing but it was worth it.
Those Brake Hold Down springs are a pig. In the end i discovered that Extra Long Nosed Pliers are best. I had them hard against my body while squeezing & turning that top clip.

Rear drum brakes are a bit of a pain altogether!

Derek. Did you ever sort the brake sponginess on that car? It seems that you need one of those 'plug in laptops' to open the valves in the ABS pump to bleed them properly on these modern cars. I bet it's the same scenario with these 207's.
After all said & done i'm glad i bought one of these cars. Mine is an Est Car. The engine runs sweet & doesn't use any oil between oil changes. It's been round the clock. This particular 1.6 HDi is a very popular engine plus it's only £30 a yr road fund licence. ❤️

Handbrake better, but footbrake still squishy. Another round of bleeding me thinks.
