The brakes on a Disco' (like a lot of things on a Disco') can become very, very knackered before you realise there's actually a problem. Put new discs on mine a few months ago and gave the calipers a service at the same time. Turned out that none of the pistons were moving easily and almost all the slide-pins were seized. Freed everything off, cleaned all the muck off the calipers, coated the slide-pins with copper grease, put it all back together (with the new discs & pads) and... it stops like an F1 car! If you fancy a new toy, get yourself one of those ratchet brake wind-back tools (the ones that look a bit like a TIE fighter). They're not super expensive and they make it a doddle to push pistons back in... especially on calipers with more than one piston. Only down-side is they don't fit into some smaller calipers. Not sure if they'd fit Old Stinky.
Bet its like a new car now! To be fair, the brakes on Jugs have never been as good as Lollopy's. It would stand on its nose if necessary, as it was one night with a dipstick walking in the carriageway, with his back to the traffic that I came upon. Anyway, that's another story. I'll fit some new pads in the front and check the disc thickness. Life is all about new tools!
I had to fit rear callipers, carriers, discs, and pads to mine a couple of weeks ago. Everything was rusted and knackered. The previous owner said it's a typical disco 2 brakes aren't great 😮 anyway done now, and the brakes work fine. To be fair, he spent good money on it but must have had enough of spending, so it looks like I've taken over 😂

Last year 3 out of 4 calipers on my disco was seized. Refurbished ones are cheap enough so it was a no brained rather than trying to rebuild them.
Yes, refurb is the way, or new. To be fair, these calipers were not too bad. Bit of life left in them yet!

Good man! Keep up the good work!
