  • Alice Springs Australia Walking Tour (2019) is a video recording of my walk with no talking. I highly recommend using headphones to experience 3D environment sounds as I recorded with binaural microphones.
    Filmed using:
    Camera: Osmo Pocket - amzn.to/309uju3
Extension Rod: Osmo Pocket Extension Rod - amzn.to/306xnqK
    Audio Recorder: Zoom H1N - amzn.to/33TU7LO
Camera Charger: Osmo Pocket Charging Case - amzn.to/2EyQfY3
Editing Software: DaVinci Resolve - amzn.to/3j4ASp5
    Alice Springs Info:
Alice Springs is the third-largest town in the Northern Territory of Australia. Popularly known as "the Alice" or simply "Alice", Alice Springs is situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre.
The area is known as Mparntwe to its original inhabitants, the Arrernte, who have lived in the Central Australian desert in and around what is now Alice Springs for tens of thousands of years. The name Alice Springs was given by surveyor William Whitfield Mills after Alice, Lady Todd, wife of the telegraph pioneer Sir Charles Todd.
Alice Springs had an urban population of almost 24,000 at the 2016 Census; it accounts for approximately 10% of the population of the Northern Territory. It is nearly equidistant from Adelaide and Darwin.
The town straddles the usually dry Todd River on the northern side of the MacDonnell Ranges. The surrounding region is known as Central Australia, or the Red Centre, an arid environment consisting of several different deserts. Temperatures in Alice Springs can vary dramatically, with an average maximum in summer of 35.6 °C (96.1 °F) and an average minimum in winter of 5.1 °C (41.2 °F).

Thank you for putting this up, so many memories from living there as a kid, a lot from my childhood is not there anymore.
15:14 the cignall store, when i lived there as a kid it was a Tandy Electronics. i remember getting a donkey kong handheld system
15:28 down that way the building far up the back is where civic video used to be, they had an arcade in the same building when i was a kid.
16:32 the empty building near the 40km sign used to be a toyworld and around the corner from it was video 2000
16:58 missed kmart, it was just down there, also behind it used to be blockbuster video
17:51 the parking lot with the mural used to have a pizza hut
17:59 the building on the far left used to be a video ezy
26:14 the alice springs plaza used to have a museum upstairs with dinosaurs
28:47 the target used to be a Bi-Lo

Hi Conner. Thanks for taking time to timestamp and share some history in Alice Spring. Happy to know that even in a "remote" town, there are memories of the place. It's people like you that keep a place "alive". =) Take care Conner and stay safe in these uncertain times

Agreed! Thanks for the upload! I was born and lived in Alice until I was 14. I noticed that all the chemist pharmacies there are all still in the same places as they used to be! Alice Springs Plaza/Ford Plaza definitely looks very different now, without the fountain with the goldfish that people used to throw coins into. This video bought back many fond memories

Hi fellow Discoverers. This is Alan from Discovery Walking Tours TV. I recently made a road trip to amazing Australia and I am happy to share my footage of the land down under. I used binaural microphones to record the environmental sounds. So if you have a pair of headphones, do use them, it will be quite an immersive experience 😀
If you notice any interesting points in the video or want to ask about something that was caught on camera, comment with a time stamp (eg 00:01) and I will be sure to check it out. I am also interested to know where you are from 😄 so drop a comment below and say hi!

I spent a couple of nights there back in September 2019 on my way to and from the rock. It seemed quite cosmopolitan, and surprisingly I didn't encounter any problems back then. A tiny place, although some locals think Alice Springs is a big city.

Is Alice still a bit dangerous ? Went there back in the 80s after reading the book a town called Alice but very disappointing, drunk bums and crap everywhere on the side of the roads quite an eye opener ! Surely it must be sorted out now ! don’t look to bad . Id like to go back for a visit but I’m hesitant obviously 🤔

It is fortunate for the native citizens of Australia to be able to take care of and solve problems such as education and society. My country has never been subjected to white rulership, but people are not given the same care from the government like native citizens of Australia.

I Recently saw a trivia question which indicated that 98% of all Australians live within 150 miles of the sea ... and I thought, 'wow, John Jarratt really IS all alone, there, in the middle of the nation/outback, doin' his Mick Taylor Wolf Creek thing!' ;) ... lol but seriously .... it looks like about 23,000 people live in Alice Springs .... and I lmao when I saw that they have a McDonalds ... but in a good way! It's almost impossible to believe that they can 'get' electricity there in the middle of nowhere

They have gas pipelines of the country's national distribution network. It is not like in Chile that we do not have fossil fuels. But we have the highest radiation in the world in the north and the highest winds in the world in the south ✌️

Great video, but I have one recommendation. Don't move your camera so much left and right. You are doing it constantly and the eyes just hurt because of all that movement. You have a great steadycam and use it. You have a relatively wide angle so almost everything is in frame anyways. Just keep your camera straight and that's it. It's just one complaint, but it's honestly a big one. Just my side of it. But still great video :)

Im from Alice so i know the History
There was suspected minerals nearby from Where the telegraph station is so they build a small town for the workers.
When they found out the minerals were not what they expected they stayed because Alice made a great middle point between Darwin and Adelaide so they also built the railway line there
