  • In this video I review the Baer 4 wheel manual disc brakes, the Hotchkis TVS suspension and the 18" Falken tires I put on my 1970 Plymouth Cuda. I do some street driving giving my impression of the performance of the new parts and then I take the car out to push it a little harder to see what it can really do!

    All I can say is this car is INCREDIBLE now!

    Cool video. The interior shot with you sliding around in the seat was awesome!

    The Cuda looks and sounds great! I think the stance is perfect. So many guys slam these cars and tuck the wheels and tires way up into the fender wells and it makes the cars look ridiculous. I also like that you didn't go with 20" or 22" wheels and super low profile tires....that just never looks good on classic muscle cars. I really like that you are going with the "mini lite" style road racing wheels. Reminds me of the real AAR racing Cudas and Challengers....you just can't beat how tough that looks. Nice job!

      thanks man, I really appreciate it! I can't stand the 20" and larger wheels on old cars!

    Beautiful 'Cuda! Great video! I could watch that car all day :)
    I have a 72 Challenger that has the full Hotchkis Suspension along with a set of Cal Tracs bars in the rear
    and a Baer Classic 4 wheel disk setup. Aside from needing a vacuum pump for the brakes because the cam
    is so big. It really does handle and ride amazing! Steering wise I have the Firm Feel quick ratio box and it works
    well but it still has that slight dead zone in the middle that kinda bugs me.. But going to a rack setup isn't cheap.
    I am rolling on 18x 8 and 18x10 Riddler's with 245/45's up front and 295/45's out back. It also has modern
    2011 SRT8 Challenger seats (required the floor pans to be customized).
    Once I get a rotary vacuum pump in for the brakes I will be super pleased. As it stand she hauls through the bends
    every bit as good as my 2011SRT8 does.

      @@backyardhotrods9885 I can't take the credit for the build a close friend of mine spent a decade on it. He did build one heck of a car. I was fortunate to be able to move her over into my care. He's still sad over it... LOL and I completely understand it.
      But I am driving and enjoying her like he intended.

    Lookin good! Do you have a video on the rear suspension? That rear tire looks wide and wondering what you have in the rear.

      Here is a video on rear axle and springs. Thanks , it’s tucked up in there nicely if I do say. But it’s a b body spec axle on offset shackles and 295 tire.

    You brakes are still hydraulic just not vacuum assisted. I went with the 6 piston 14” Baer brakes front and rear for my dart. Also ordered a hydro boost set up for it as the car already has power steering so why not use the PS pump for some power brakes. However, ordered over 2 months ago and they hydroboost still hasn’t shipped. The adapter bracket is holding things up on that….

      Yeah I meant to say vacuum 😁. That’s a good option you have done…I might go that route down the road if I’m not happy with manual. Was trying to keep things simple

    I've been wondering about these modern brake conversions from Willwood ' Baer ' etc ' I've noted that they are not power assisted ' do they have the easy pedal pressure that you'd get as if power assisted ?

    • @backyardhotrods9885
      @backyardhotrods9885  Рік тому +2

      Normal driving you don’t notice it , under hard braking it does take more pedal force

    Good review Wayne been waiting on some to review a good torsion bar suspension. Do you think the spc arms were worth the extra money over other brands

    • @backyardhotrods9885
      @backyardhotrods9885  Рік тому

      Thanks Ernest I appreciate it. Using these upper arms makes it easy to dial in a custom / more aggressive alignment. That’s their advantage. So it depends on how you want to set it up

    Good review dude but a reasonably low speed slalom on a back road doesn't really prove much. You really need to take it to a track day to try out its handling and braking abilities and properly adjust your shocks and sway bars. Try it, its great fun 😀
