This dangerous, account-stealing verification scam has been going on for a while now. Why isn't it being stopped? - Ігри
Honestly, what's even scarier than losing your Minecraft account is that they're gaining access to your Microsoft account. It's quite likely people have personally identifiable documents stored on their OneDrive. This isn't even a Skyblock scam, but potentially straight-up identity theft.
i fell for this scam a year ago and my account was connected to my dad's email and they hacked so many things it took days to recover it
Ironic that they claim the purpose of the migration was for improved security and player safety, but instead we get minecraft accounts which when compromised can now leak personal information of families and children.

I actually have ran into this scam a few times. I was looking for a perm, and when I joined the Discord server an immediate red flag was that the skyhelper/verification bot was unverified. I actually ended up creating sort of a hobby of joining the parties and trying to get kicked asap.
Just dont join perms to begin with unless its like m6 m7 it literally isnt worth it lmao
FE-M3 perms are literal garbage anyway and if you somehow find one, its usually a juju non.
After messing with them a a few times by putting rat into chat they have it set to auto disband party that also seem to have it where they can create a party right after. Plus now they auto add you to blacklist you.

I knew it was a scam but i wasnt sure, i told my friend it was a scam nut he tried it anyway and it was late at night, he fell for it and his account got stolen. Than he contacted Microsoft and they just banned the account instead of giving him it back(he had proof). So it worse

They made it so you get warped to housing area now and there isn’t a way to report it. A bot was spam inviting a lot of player and warping them for hours.

I experienced this myself and caught it quickly due to the e-mail being from Microsoft not discord.
The problem is it NEVER says it’s a password reset, just a 1-time code, which could really mean anything if you don’t pay close attention.
that's because its not a code to reset your password its a code to access your email account once until you log out, which then allows them to reset the password since they're in your email. Microsoft really needs to add a big warning that's very obvious saying to never give it to anybody.

@@johndolenc7658i tried that once lol, i spammed a lot of random things into the discord verification and got banned shortly after. I still have the link though. I'm pretty sure that all it does is send the information to the Microsoft reset page and attempt to reset the account password, it never actually gives access. Also, I tried entering different emails but it has to be a Microsoft account for it to work(not necessarily a Minecraft account though).
@@greenguyz I do believe it is industry standard to be explicit and excessively clear with the purpose and reason behind these email. The e-mail should not be "hey yo, here is your code"... Why not? To prevent exactly this from happening.

It wouldn’t be too bad if Microsoft support was actually functional. My sister lost her account to a scam a while back and they pretty much said, verbatim “yeah we can see it was your account, but the email was changed so we aren’t giving it back.”

frfr one time my steam account got robbed by a scam my friend was telling me, like he and I didn't know it was a scam (now I doubt that part) it was late in the night and I wasn't too awake to notice the false link, got my account robbed and after reporting to steam they got my account back in a matter of hours so I left pretty satisfied with steam, moral of the story: always praise Gabe Newell

hypixel doesn’t care about scams. scammers don’t get banned and regular players can get false banned with getting a auto bot response from there appeal response. with like 10k hours of playtime

I almost fell for this a couple days ago, I reached the verification code stage and thought it was a bit odd so aborted. I had no idea this was a scam and that I almost lost 500 hours. Thank you for educating me

I almost did it as well last night, except I didn't get to the verification code part I entered in my username and email but paused and thought "this feels wrong." went and did my research and got out of server hella quick.
One thing you can do is /worldreport signs when there are any, however, there are cases where there are none.

I found out yesterday, you can literally do it on an npc by now, it will bring up a message in chat asking you what dialog to report and it works well

A little fun fact about this is that in the email that Microsoft sends you, it will tell u the ip address of the computer that logged into your account so you can find their city, state, address, etc. and threaten them to get your account back. I got my account stolen by this scam and actually got it back by threatening to report them to police.

there is actually a great way of getting these people banned or muted! You have to ask them in chat why you need to fill in your email info and have them basically verify in chat that they are scammers so mods can ban/mute them! 👍

Not just minecraft, it happens everywhere. That is the reason you HAVE to be careful with your verification codes in your email

It happens on instagram too. The most common one is ‘omg they said this about you. Wtf!’ And they send a link to a post. Now often when you send a link insta bugs and asks you to log in. The scammers take advantage of that by sending you a fake insta login site. So they can track your password.
That’s when you lose your account unless you use 2 factor identification as then they can’t delete your info without you getting notified.
if a tech company would behind Minecraft, the gaming account would not be linked to a cloud storage and software license management system and the one time password would be clearly labbeld as such.
But hey: Asking a small tech company like microsoft to provide security to a central digital identity service is asking to much. Imaging Mojang runing the show.

Btw, I would like to mention it is possible to get your account from them back. (I say this cause my buddy did a dumb and yeah) he went to microsoft and put in the email that they changed it to (you can see this in the emails)and there is a recovery system where if you provide enough ACCURATE information then they will give you the ability to change the password. From there you can remove their email and add yours back. My buddy managed to get his account back unfortunately after deleting all of his skyblock stuff. I just wanted to put this out there in case someone else falls for this and has a chance of getting it back like my buddy did

any good beamer would use methods (mostly private) that makes the account unpullable. it’s not hard to make it unpullable, without an insider it’s impossible to take it back.

This scam is actually insane and well thought out. But I feel like a big part of why it works are the incredibly undetailed e-mails microsoft send with the one time code? I feel like it should at least say what the code's purpose is, but apparently it doesn't?? which is really stupid
I feel like I should mention this just in case. Something similar happens in bedwars. If you're looking for a party and someone says something like "bedwars doubles with vc" and then ask you to join a discord server, there will be the same exact verification bot. However, I've never trusted it but I've realized that when you go back to minecraft you'll notice you're not in the party anymore. So be careful out there.

*Ill just post it here: This happened to me literally this week, but I didn't have enough brain cells to realize it was a scam. I lost access to my entire account. Thankfully, microsoft is somehow decent, or I got lucky, and I was able to recover my account and everything on it by providing the right details. Got my account back a day and a half later. I think the scammer was just extremely stupid though, because He didn't fight me for the account once he verified he got in, because I was sable to log in 10m later and transfer all my sb stuff (items, talismans, coins, etc.) off of it (about 15b) to a friend before the scammer logged back on to check. I'm guessing most scammers would fight for the log in to get your stuff off of the account and transfer your items off of it before you had the chance, so I must have been lucky, but I was TERRIFIED because I've had my minecraft account for over a decade now, with hundreds of dollars in Xbox games, an office 365 yearly subscription, etc. This guy didn't even turn on 2fa. Bro was the least deadly scammer, I somehow fell for it, but was able to recover it. Please don't be like me. Don't get scammed.
my cousin got scammed this way so i tried to help him (he's 11), and after speaking with microsoft for 2 entire weeks, tickets, chats, etc they did not give his microsoft account back even after proving that it was his account. we literally watched the account get hacked and the email being removed and contacted them 10 minutes later but they still didnt do shit.

the thing is, Microsoft notification alert should be more concise and specific about where the verification code will be used.
this scam is scary. there has been a time when i was still very careless in the internet and just didnt know much and i probably would have fallen for a scam like that. i just didnt knew better. i hope this video gets even more views and raises the awareness of all people. the internet is a great place to socialize and have fun, but keep in mind, there are always people out there just waiting to hurt others.
before knowing that this was a scam, I would still instantly leave the party as I did not want my time being wasted and it seemed suspicious lol
A crazy fact that I learned recently is that no player has never been banned for scamming before in skyblock. Searching on the fourms, discords, and youtube you will find that not a single scammer has ever been directly banned for scamming. They really just dont care

I wish I found this video so much earlier, I fell for this at the start of the year, after I pulled an all-nighter, I of course let my guard down.
My little brother fell for one of these and lost his Minecraft account and months of progress on his birthday, I tried my best to cheer him up and get his account back but Microsoft basically said no.
It's actually sad that these basement dwellers are out there stealing kids accounts taking their hard work and joy from them , I feel like hypixel , discord and Microsoft could all be doing more to stop this easily

hey you did a good job with editing this video. just so you know, your video is significantly quieter than most youtube videos. consider using audio compression to bring up the overall loudness of your microphone audio
I am quite sure that audio compression is usefull to equalize the volume. What would be helpfull here is increasing the volume.
@@user-to7ds6sc3p this isn't entirely accurate. you'd really want to use both in this case. compressors have a makeup gain option. using makeup gain to bring the level back up to where it previously was will result in an overall louder sound. it will also prevent clipping of the peaks when turning up the volume for normalization

The Linus account also tried to get my MC account asking me to join the discord. these scams are way too common now days. great vid and thats for the education!
A thing we should also talk about is Microsoft's wording on the emails they send. The Microsoft email that was used for this video (3:03) uses words that are way too generic, and makes the scammer's malicious actions pass as legitimate unless we deeply inspect the email.
I am far confident that this whole scam's danger would have been greatly reduced if Microsoft used a more direct wording in their emails. For example, they could have directly wrote that someone was trying to log in the Microsoft account instead of dumbassely writing "We recieved your request for a single-use code to use with your Microsoft Account".
i fell for something similar but instead of an island they were promoting a server for people to get together for the dungeon and sending links directly, unfortunately for them i am a persistent multitasker and successfully log battled them for 23hrs straight while changing all my log info and kicking them out

some years ago when I played skyblock, a lot of people tried to scam me, but those were pretty harmless scams like trying to scam me off my superior drag armor, but I have never encountered a scam like this.
I fell for this once cuz I was around 14 at the time, but overtime I started to no longer deal with discord servers that need your Minecraft acc info, and after some time i fell for it again because i forgot about it and now i got severe trust issues with every person that i do not know, but please, do not fall for these scams and stay safe out there too every person
If the signs say I am currently muted, thats a red flag bc u cant edit signs anymore when muted. You also cant use npc's to communicate since hypixel has patched that. Just a bit of vital information :)
I don’t play hypixel sb but wouldn’t a mute imply you were muted by the server in the first place? That means you would’ve already proven that you’re a problem so why do people just act like it’s nothing. Hypickle is pretty annoying with its ridiculous censorship and spam standards but I’ve never been muted before and I’d imagine you’d have to be pretty nasty to get that

As somebody who used to OTP (the mentioned scam)/rat, clicking on links aren't bad an will never do anything bad, but don't enter any verification codes, passwords, or emails like he said. You should also never put unknown mods in your folder as they can steal your session id. Also don't fall for people that say if you rat for them you'll get rich. It's not okay or fun. I would spend hours a day trying to find people and in the end, I could have made more money farming wheat.

Used to be good friends with someone who did this, and his reasoning was "If you're stupid enough to fall for this, you don't deserve to have your account." No longer friends with this person for multiple reasons.
this also happens in bedwars, most often lobby 1. when you look for people and they want to “vc”, they invite you to a discord where this exact scam happens. It’s really annoying, and people who haven’t been aware of this scam can probably be taken easily.

I’ve seen a player called “flamelier” actually give out free ranks just because he wanted to. He asked a question like favorite number of a non ranked player and then if they got the question right or whatever they got VIP. It was pretty cool to watch. I think he mentioned he was going for the 400 gift ranks or something.
One thing i"ve seen in these party finder scams is that if its an f6 dungeon they will switch their class to tank to try to create and incentive for people to join.

i almost got scammed like that for cosmetics but after i checked their comments on their vid on yt and i saw that somebody said there that they got scammed and so i deleted my email just in case but they didnt ask me for the code and so my account didnt get stolen either didnt it get ratted
Sadly that happend to me,i lost my Microsoft account for ever,and when I messaged Microsoft about it telling them that I have the credit cards used in the purchases in my account,they said they just terminated it without even asking me for more proof.It's sad too see that big companies don't care about they're users and buyers.

Fun fact: i got ratted by this discord thing, i saw a f7 perm party and i joined and verified but had to go... Later on when i logged into minecraft and joined hypixel then skyblock i saw my stuff is gone, i checked my login live account then went to activities and i saw his ip, country wheres he from and even his house in google street view when i checked if the ip sends me anywhere.
The next day i went to the police station, said everything i know and said that they are going to try to look for him, he was found and arrested for fraud and scamming, now he serves couple months in prison, i saved like 80+ accounts that day... Im proud of myself

All you can do is try to find your Minecraft purchase code report it hacked from Microsoft and try get it back

@@Rajesh-Koothrappali I did contact Microsoft saying it was hacked, so they locked the account. There was not much I can do after the person changed my email as well as password.
I've learned to just never accept free stuff no matter what. If it sounds too good to be true it is. These are Hypixel players, they are ruthless and you should never trust anybody under any circumstances. This mindset has allowed me to avoid ever being scammed in the past 4 years

About 6 months ago this legit happened to my max Hyperion profile after I did the exact thing shown in the vid. Tysm for bringing attention to this as when it happened to me i couldn't fathom how they got my microsoft account without a password. I hope everyone watching shares this vid to there guild or skyblock friends as this is such a horrible scam to fall for.

I mean a decent way to get rid of these scams is just to make it so NPCs can't have links lol. I don't play SB much nowadays, but why do they even allow for them in the first place? Most MC chats ban direct links in chat for reasons like this.

I had this happen to my account quite a long time ago to be honest but just in another form saying if I review their new dungeons discord server I would get a free 10m and I thought that would be a pretty nice easy thing and didnt think much of it until after I verified and went back on Minecraft and instantly realised how dumb I was so knowing it can be done in so many ways I would suggest not using discord or only using it with close friends ( also I’ve heard of some discord servers being fake replicas like a fake exotic cafe which does the same scam )

this scam was actually different for me, the guy used an alt with MVP(which isn't even required, considering the fact that your account is technically your own responsibility) and said that he will help me get through f6 because he wanted some more people in his dungeon party. You can ban all of them.
A gm banned a lot of these before.
All you need is to let the gm join that party and he/she sees the scam and can ban the ip address and account- which at least slows them down.
Also you can get your account back from microsoft.. just takes a long time including verification with one or more of your registered devices and showing your id.
1:39 note for everyone: NEVER TRUST THAT BOT. I’ve seen this thing happen similarly with this bot.
Ok but this entire scam falls apart if you read the verification e-mail, which is very obviously a microsoft sign-in code and not a discord verification code.

I have fallen for a scam like this before. It was a discord varifcation thing were you have to long into your microsoft account. I got scammed. Luckily for me they didnt change my microsoft password and didnt delete me accounts they just sold my items.

This happened to me about 6 months ago, except it was a bit different. It was the classic giveaway link. I was invited to a discord server. But no verification. The scammers must have got a real job or just forgot about my account because i can play it without any trouble. I changed all my passwords and hoped to god that i wouldn't get all of my stuff stolen again.
Btw those scams are pretty effective. I spoke to someone who was scamming ppl and he said about 70% fall for the scam and me makes about 50-90 bucks per hour (after „taxes“)while scamming which is absolutely wild. Those scammers are hired btw. The discord server owner just sets up the server and then hires ppl to scam. The owner keeps half of the accounts and the other half goes to the hired ppl. That way they can quit any time without leaving any trace behind and the server owner is making bank. Normal rates are about one account per 5-10 minutes. DC account has since been deleted but I still have the convo. And joining the scammers is extremely easy, you just find a scam in chat, join the server and ask if you can join the scam. That‘s pretty wild if you ask me

Dude… 4 days ago my younger brother got his account hacked from this exact thing…
And now he’s lost tons of progress in games, lost money on the account, my account was almost breached because we’re in the same Microsoft family, I had to change passwords, etc etc
We’re trying to recover it but it’s an absolute nightmare so anyone who reads this, stay safe.
It can be stopped by making a dungeon party system which don't allow warps :)
Almost had this happen to me on pvplegacy, i asked on some sb tech server and they said its a scam, the guy who sent me the discord is now banned and probably further action was taken to the discord server, as it no longer exists.
skyblock needs to add something where u can soulbound items whenever you want and also undo that action so you cant be scammed yet still sell your stuff
the scammer would just undo it
they should just add a selfban command
if something is soulbound they can just void it. so you can't get your items back either
1. if you can undo the soulbound on an item, the scammer can just undo the soulbound. they are literally on your account
2. soulbound items can be dropped/voided
3. they can delete the entire profile

they changed the scam up slightly. instead of instantly teleporting you to their island, they ask you to add them on discord ( which i assume makes it more trustable AND makes it harder for people to intervene with the scam ) when you add them, they ask for ur ign but i havent seen much after that,,,.. why i assume they ask for ur ign is to verify that you are in fact a player and not someone trying to troll them. before, you could be able to afk in the islands to warn people, but now the scam is more air tight. a solution ive thought of is to see if anyone in the party of the scammer has discord connected to their account and try to contact them from there...

Cyber Security classes should be mandatory in high school by now. I took it as an elective during my time in HS, and I learned about phishing and all that stuff. It is good stuff to learn and just be aware of.
