this form of cosmic horror that is simply the inescapable chaos of astronomical processes is such a brilliant backdrop to the base-building gameplay loop
Wonderful that the first thing to come out of a cloning machine is a sheep, which is named Molly. Reference to the first cloned animal, though her name was Dolly.
This looks like an absolute banger of a game. In a lot of ways, it gives me Subnautica vibes - that sense of isolation, of impending danger when you are woefully unprepared to meet it.
Yo this is actually incredible. I'm absolutely amazed at the quality of this game. The demo is generous with playtime too. I honestly wasn't interested in this game after reading the description, but after this video it has my full attention. Thanks!
you're thinking of the giant's causeway. it's in ireland and Scottland. there are basalt formations of the coast of each that line up. legend says that two giants built a bridge toward each other so they could fight.
Very strong Returnal vibes, and I would compare it not to The Martian, but to Tarkovsky's Solaris. The book the movie is based on was written by Stanislaw Lem, a Polish writer, and considering the game's developers are Polish, it's likely they were inspired by the atmosphere from there.
Having DID and watching this, I am a fan of how accurately upset Yan Electrician is to find out he's a clone. It's kinda accurrate to having alters irl.
If your going to get him to clone someone why not clone one of the dead crew? The mind records were stored before deletion and you can still get DNA from their corpses outside. It would probably cause less psychological problems to have a whole different person there than another you.
When he accessed the quantum computers it deleted the other records because they are dead. I'm actually not convinced the data was gathered beforehand - I think the quantum computer reads your mind when you activate it.
This demo was amazing. Honestly the base building and exploration was mediocre on its own, and even if it were just clones there wouldn't be much that's interesting... ... But the drama that potentially exists with these alternate life paths is just so huge. Looking at the trailers it seems you'll have to negotiate with the different parts of your self that are not quite you. That is like the icing that makes this otherwise mid game potentially shine.

According to the memory log thing this mission is called mission dolly.
@@NJM1564 I KNOW...
Very suspicious the name of the operation is called Operation Dolly.

Holy this is SICK
and i think, given its a quantum computer, you're taking people from alternative realities, and not creating artificial memories
Or at least borrowing/copying their memories
Shout out to the music team, that intro, with how it incorporates the pod alarm, just beautiful

This demo was AMAZING!! I can't wait for the full game.
Wow, this game is crazy. Great video.
first time I saw this game I thought it was fake. pretty cool to see how far long it really is.
I think Lucas is a clone. He signed off as L7 at the end there.
L7 is the number/name of the orbital substation Lucas is at.
Yeah I wondered about L7 when I played the demo until watching this, he's at the L7 substation.
Honestly this looks like it would make a great Netflix series!
Like a mini-series set in the Black Mirror universe? I could see that - “Black Mirror: The Alters”

the abandoned personal stuff can probably help u familiarize with some of the alters later

Ireland, the giants causeway.
I don't know how much it would have helped but I think reviewing the Alters life path after the branch might have been advisable before waking him up.
Everything looks like Returnal in this game. Even the map view. I still will play it 😊
Quality game as always
Wow what a game
Happy anniversary Wander 🎉 been a supporter for over a year now just noticed today that my little symbol changed
man someone really liked open block elevators. them smooth
Man it's already here
This has an interesting premise. I really want to know what is going on.
Yup I was yawning. But not because of the content. This looks super interesting.

Looks great. If only us console only peasants could play the demo, too. Very frustrating that this only has a demo on PC.
Yeah, steam nextfest.
Controls work great on console, I played it on my steam deck. I only had trouble with the pylons.
You mentioned Dome Keeper. I have heard "Drill Core" compared favourably to it by Aliensrock, as a game that scratches a similar itch.
I played that too! Solid game but it's only a demo at the moment.
@@wanderbots Ah, I only remembered a video from Retromation on it. I guess I got you guys (and the ton of videos you make) mixed up.
You ever watch a movie called "The Martian"? You would love it. Probably also like one called "Moon" (2009).
What's the demo on? PS5or Xbox?
Only PC, which is so frustrating.

have you ever watched moon?
saw a post about this on FB. i don't know anything about "steam" so i came. i've never really played VG's. i thought this was gonna be a band!
