      VTEC kicked in several times before your so-called "come-on-now-civics-owners-are-all-bad forced down the throat" reality. I sincerely hope he had a good time, because I think he really didn't do much for this to happen.

    The persuit was what caused danger to the public as the civic driver was calm beforehand and a more stealty approach may have been better!

      It's not like a Civic Type-R is a super car, motorbike or anything with some serious acceleration, 1.8 with a good driver can keep up with a chav who thinks he's a good driver in type-r down street roads no problem. The Police drive with care of other road users and try and keep within the correct lane at junctions, also they don't keep so close to not panic the driver into creating a catastrophe, that is the only reason they're not up their ass.

    • @traciewinn8919
      @traciewinn8919 8 років тому

    I thought that cop car was pretty quick in a straight line, show it some tight bends though and its all over. never knew civic ep3 type R,s were so quick. Imagine if he was on his own with no extra weigh...dayyyum.

    • @roversnolan1
      @roversnolan1 8 років тому +1

      most likely the 2.8 turbo V6 Vectra. Same engine as the vectra VXR so it can certainly shift.

    • @SteveWoods79
      @SteveWoods79 8 років тому +5

      in a straight line maybe, cornering isn't exactly its strong point.... great for motorway pursuits but not so much around the streets.

    • @roversnolan1
      @roversnolan1 8 років тому +1

      to be fair they did a pretty good job of following it. The police will always be at a disadvantage in a pursuit considering that they have to take more caution at junctions. I think the cars straight line speed and acceleration kept them in it. It's the same with with big old 5 series BMWs that they use. Plenty of power on the open road but for pursuits in urban areas they will struggle. That's where the Subarus, evos, Audi S3 and focus ST come in handy.

    • @Chewy0424
      @Chewy0424 8 років тому +4

      My Type R shifts... just depends if its been nailed all its life. With a decent set of rubber on, the thing is nailed in the bends. This guy didn't make the most of the cars cornering ability.

    • @terry141186
      @terry141186 7 років тому

      I would say it because the civic has the advantage of independant rear suspension but so does the vectra. Its plainly because honda know how to set up a chassis and vauxhall haven't got a scooby doo.

    You'll get into trouble with cops for going over the limit and yet doing over 80mph on those back roads is outrageously dangerous. He's pushing some guy in a stolen car who just wants to stay out of jail and he will do whatever it takes regardless of the risk to life.
    That looked like a situation where the cop was just so fixated in getting this guy that he was going to stop at nothing. I understand his frustration but better to call the chase off at those speeds.

    Disgraceful driving by both involved parties, 80+ on suburban roads, 60+ on side streets, just pure madness, any normal driver would have lost their licence and probably served time for this sort of driving, but because these are police they can get away with it, the chase should have been called off due to the high level of public risk involved, just pure madness on behalf of the police drivers

    in all honesty the police car should have fallen back when the driver was going at those types of speed in a residential area, i think he met have gotten red vision. good driver but very dangerous, they had the plate number so why risk it.

      Plate is good enough if they don't swap it, ANPR cameras can pick it up. If they do swap the plates, police in the area can just keep looking for the car based on it's description.

    I know all 4 of this bunch..3 passengers were there for kicks, however driver is well known for his skills behind the wheel. he has outrun the POPO on multiple occasions. He sometimes just does it for fun. Around this time he was stealing the cars too order to then send them abroad. Everything I say here is true, the driver is now a accountant and has previously owned a silver Honda Civic Type R EP3. Far better than the one he trashed. He also has owned multiple Japanese imports and damn he knows how to drive them.

    The Police driver did really well to somewhat keep up, especially if he was in a large Vauxhall. The Honda will handle accelerate and brake far superior to the heavier Police car. The Police also have other things to consider that will slow him down a bit, like directions and public safety.
    The bad guy should have known or had a plan where he was going and ditched the car far sooner.
    The longer the car chase is on, the more Police get involved, the more offences you're likely to rack up and the more chance of getting caught or killing someone.

      Most people around the world are right handed that means your strongest hand is the right.. with cars on left side of road the driver is on the right which means right strongest hand is on wheel at all times while left hand, the weaker hand is just used for changing gears and having two hands on the wheel. So I pity Americans having to use their left hand as the main hand on the wheel.. and american football which doesn't use much feet, and hamburgers which has no ham in it... saying erbs, not herbs.. paying for overpriced health care for life or death sutuations or just even giving birth. firstly they are trained professionals. That Honda needed stopping, the value of car has nothing to do with it. if police never pursued cars it would be a free for all. if it was 15.15 I'd admit it was reckless, but public were not at risk. And I doubt much damage those speed humps are those shitty ones that are too narrow and can be missed mostly.

      These so-called "professionals" still make mistakes, as have race drivers who've been around a circuit hundreds of times. At over 40 metres per second, even if you have sirens and lights on, it's not going to prevent a collision and then you have to think about people being distracted as they're listening to the radio, using handsfree devices, or perhaps they've got problems with their eyesight and/ or hearing...

      TRIGGERED I understand what you are saying but there is clear evidence the fight or flight reflex can influence the criminals behaviour. Simply put,they would not drive the way they do when chased if they are not being chased.
