  • Just a little gratitude for what the s1000rr did for us all... you may disagree, and that's fine - but you are wrong.
    Plus also the standard waffle.

I've been at McLaren for a tour, cause a friend was a student there. Very impressive. And clean. I bet if a fly shits on the floor, a little flap in a wall will open and a little robot will come out to clean up instantly.

I love all these bikes, but my favorite is the Aprilia RSV4. I just really like the looks and sound of it. I would be quite happy with any of these super bikes. RSV4, S1000RR, R1M, Ninja H2 and CBR1000RR. All very good bikes. Keep that BMW nice, they are sweet machines and all of these fast bikes deserve respect.

I hear you, Baron. I've owned one new bike in my life, an RSV4 Factory. I took care of it, not in a cover it in cotton wool sense though, I loved riding it and it sounded ridiculously good and you would never get bored of hearing that V4, but knowing how much its individual parts were worth, I would always wonder if it would still be where I parked it whenever I went anywhere and it took the fun out of owning it to be honest.

2016 S1RR was sublime, clocked up 35K km inc. Istanbul to Amsterdam and back. I believe 2017 fireblade SP will be impressive at the very least and perhaps more fun and more user friendly(due to weight) on public roads. ( I'll miss heated grips & cruise control)

I heard a similar story from a local music instrument shop, whenever this one guy would come in to buy a guitar he would bang it off the counter so he didn't have to worry about taking to gigs and inevitably damaging his pristine guitar. Don't know how true it is but the idea makes sense, not that many of us would do it.

The s1000rr is one of those bikes that's got your back. If you fuck up or get out of your depth it'll be there to smooth you through the crisis and even make you look good, rather than spit you off and leave you in the cemetery or A&E. It was a game changer on release and I doubt BMW will drop the ball with the new model.

For once, Grumble, you're not talking shit... Got one of the first 2010 bikes in the Motorsport colours (best paint job). Been riding for longer than you've been staining the planet and the furthest I've ridden in a day (650 back from the Loire Valley) is on... An RR. Fantastic one-up tourer, great luggage system, over 50mpg on a run, will do 20mph in 6th, looks like an endurance racer (if you don't like the asymmetric lights; you're a dick) and even suits arthritic old farts. As you rightly say; RESPECT!

    • @Kalimerakis

which is very impressive I have to agree, mighty impressive actually, what they managed to create.
But (you know a "but" has to come here) - and I say this is a matter of personal preference- isn't it cool if a bike has some backbone, some character. That makes you uncomfortable one way, but gives a bike personality, which makes it that much more.
A bike that couldn't care less about an "arthritic old fart" (my father's one, I love him) coldstarting it on a november morning to ride to about 50°C engine temperature to drop him off at bingo for all that I know. A bike that just wouldn't think about starting for such a crappy idea. Because it's a racebike. It is meant to be carassed and cared after just to be spanked towards it's rev-limiter afterwards. It makes it a diva. It does.
And some will rightly say: "well thats just a crap bike" -and I totally agree. I ride an XR 600R, and I hate it's kickstarter sometimes. And after the exitement to ride such a raw bike round the city I hate to do so regularly.
But it makes up for it. It makes up for it the first time you use it for what it was created for. Because it's a baja 1000 winner. It gives it character. Its the best of its time.
And I don't want a racebike that takes me to bingo, just as I don't want to take a "bingo-bike" (whatever that would be) on a racetrack.
And some people get that. they get it.
They understand that the valley makes the mountain. An that you have to give something to get something.
And I agree that the BMW is the best example that this is untrue. You can have the november bingo before spanking it on track.
And this is impressive. And cool in it's own way. And I don't want to say the bmw doesn' have character. Because it does. It was just something else they were after.
All I am saying is that creating a valley, and creating backbone, creating a diva, can make a mountain that much more exiting.
And filling up the valley makes it better in logical terms, but boring in emotional.

Couldn't agree more with this video and I'd back that up by saying I have a 2016 S1000RR. For the road it's still the bike to have, for the track the Ducati and Yamaha have it - but only if you have the skills to take advantage of them. IF you're new to the track it's not worth worrying about and the S1000RR will be easier to ride around a track too. I use the S1000RR to ride for fun and for commuting around the San Francisco Bay Area having transplanted here from Bolton, England.
Baron, If you wanna come out here and do some videos on the awesome roads in the Sierra Nevada, drop me a line ;)

Two things: first, in terms of credit being due, BMW have Suzuki to thank for the S1000RR. I recall that BMW took an '05 GSXR1000 and stripped it to nuts and bolts to figure out what made it so good; I think they were actually quite honest about doing it too. That gave them direction for the base platform. They then began to refine the package and create the S1000RR; which, I agree, then moved things on. Secondly: top tip, worst thing you can possibly do is wipe dried bird lime off a car with a napkin; might as well use sandpaper. Tissue paper, loads of water, soak, dab off very carefully, otherwise you will scratch the paint.

That outro though, but thats so bloody true, I had some banged up piece of shit ducati 600 monster 2000 model, the thing was straight piped, straight bars, dirty rattle can spray job, bar end mirrors, clocks that barely worked and an ignition that only worked if I wanked it off a couple times, yet I road a good 15,000 miles on that thing and loved every second of it, now I have a cb1000r and I hated it for the first 5 rides, then all of a sudden I clicked with it and now its just like that Monster (except it works)

I think the K5/K6 deserves some kudos also, that is what BMW used as the benchmark to beat with the S1000RR.

Such a good point! Without that damn bike we wound have the progression of tech that we have seen in the last few years. As much as I don't like BMW's I have to admit they have made bikes better for us all.

That’s why I commute on a PCX, I don’t care about it and it’s proper fun in London traffic. At £2.5k it’s not a throw away but it’s not something to really care about. Almost jacked on it the other day though, I cared then lol.

The Sprint St Guy I thought so, he should of really killed time by crawling at 20mph for a bit, hope he gets away with it 🤔

    • @SquirrelMonsieur
      @SquirrelMonsieur 7 років тому

Yes the newer SPECS and VECTOR speed cameras do, so slowing down for the camera and speeding in between won't help you. There are still a lot of older ones around that just average the speeds that you were doing as you passed the cameras instead of the time taken to get between two or more cameras. In a series of cameras they may not all be working but you just don't know which are and which aren't
