Somebody the other day asked me how long I’d had this set of locs and I had to roll back the tape because wow. I’m so glad I had the foresight to document this journey. I started this set from two strand twists after I shaved my head bald - and now we’re here! I’ve had my locs for 7 years, and my biggest advice is leave your hair alone and be patient. I interlocked my locs once a month for the first year to get them going and then after that I just pop and separate them once a month. Enjoy the journey y’all! Also honorable mention to my skincare regimen because 👀 going back and watching my old hair videos and seeing lil baby Hallease hyperpigmentation face was 🥴
let us in on your skincare routine please....and also I noticed you said lately you only separate your locs...so how does your hair loc if you are no longer retwisting it...does it just loc on its own?
@estelphiri845 yes it just locks on it's own. Every now and then I'll interlock a loc or two that really isn't doing well without guidance but I really keep the maintenance minimal
Your locs are so beautiful. You know, you’re one of a couple loc’d woman youtubers who inspired me to start my (first) loc journey? I restarted my loc journey Aug 2020 so I could freeform, inspired by The Queen Po’s locs (hers are freeform and smaller, like mine, cause our textures are similar). I’ll never forget your set, tho, because it _really_ inspired me to finally just do it and stop hesitating. It was around the time you started semi-freeforming, since my interest was moving from traditional locs to freeform ones.
Such a beautiful set of locs. It’s cool how you only need to separate at that size. I semi freeform too, but had to go thicker because my strands are extra fine. If I could’ve left them smaller and semi freeform maybe I would have. No regrets though-still inspired to see what time and patience can do ❤.
@@halleasehhhh cause at the end of the video, it looks like it says “2025” at first glance but it’s really “2023”. I was lost for a second wit this comment until the short popped up again and I got my glasses on this time 😂
Hallese!! Your locs and skin look amazing. I also have been following you since the beginning of this journey. I started mine about 9 mos before you; however, I cut them June of 2023 (a few mos before my 7 year mark). I’m now about 1.5 mis into my new loc journey. You may have already disclosed your loc count but will you remind me? Or…you may not have and don’t want to. Either way, will you tell me your loc count? 😂🤣

Those humble loc cubs grew into a fine proud lovely mane. A beautiful testament to patiently trusting the process while on the winding journey.
Trusting the process is beautiful 🫶🥰
It’s so hard, but worth it
Awww! I remember when you first started them! I was following you back in the wash and go days!
Whew chile! OG sub for sure. Thank you for your service!

I never knew I would miss my short phase so much. 6 years for me. I think I'm going to start over now that grey is coming through

Looking further at your video compilation, I can see you counting your locs. I’ll try to find that video.
Where did you buy that blow up bath from?

Your locks were really cute short
They were! I really enjoyed year 1 and 2
So cute

I thought the same thing, it’s a fancy 3
🤓Astigmatism fooled me, too. Did not perceive the numeral 3, 😅

@@hallease Thank you, I found the video. I think you had 130 and then you combined some, right?
@dearawkwardchristian Yep!
Why that 2023 look like a 2025 🤔
Yeah the 3 looks weird for the font
