- After the community backlash on the sol erda daily cap limit, that limited how fast players can progress with their 6th job skills no matter how long you grind. Well this daily cap has been removed! Nexon released a statement about an hour ago to detail what their rationale was for adding the cap in the first place. And apologized for not communicating their plans in advance. Also the sol erda paid booster will not be added to the cash shop, in maplestory global at least, looks like maplesea is still getting it.
For those of you that missed the discussions that the maplestory community had on Saturday.
Nexon is limited how fast we can progress with the 6th job advancement. By limiting the amount of Sol Erda energy we can farm each day. This means that if you miss a day of capping there is no way for you to get those missed items back through grinding. And people smarter than me did the math. And with the 4 new skills that are releasing, it will take about 2 years to max them out. And new 6th job skills are releasing every 6 months or so.

Hey nexon, it's this easy. If you just listen to your fans once in a while you get more money and love. Pretty simple formula.

Also worth noting that the system wasn't removed, the cap was just changed, meaning they can very easily change it in the future when they feel like it
The funny thing is this still wouldn't shrink the gap between hardcore and casual players, it'd just make hardcore players feel like they're being boxed in and casual players would feel like the one day they probably can go to town a week and they're limited by bs restrictions.
The crazy thing is they could’ve likely made a crap ton more money (their goal) by just initially keeping the sol erda uncapped and then releasing the booster!

I have a feeling they knew what they are doing. At first they cap it get people riled up then after that give it a change. Now people are "praising" the change. Of course they'll use some lame excuse like botting and hackers.

That was my thought I feel that they did this just for a show to show that they care and would listen to the communities. It's all just for show for their greater image
I've said it already and I'll say it once more; it's a positive and welcomed changed but I wish the playerbase/community didn't take their foot off the gas. To me it just shows how easily they can make everyone back down. "Yeah just raise the cap and they'll shut up." Companies need their customers (Because that's what you all are to Nexon) more than you need them and I just want everyone to realize how much power they actually have to make a change.
Yeah I feel like people do this too much for games, the devs make many mistakes, then reverse one change that was extremely obviously going to get flak. And act like that one correction is a sign of changes, or that they should stop caring about other issues that still happened. When one change being reverted doesn't mean anything on it's own.
Well said Coppersan! Nexon should not limit growth if not, encourage and assist. But again, i applaud the baby steps made for improvement.

May I just say to the community, do NOT back down after this, there’s still a lot that can and should be fixed with this game, just because they took care of this doesn’t mean there isn’t more sludge to clean off from this game. Keep letting your voices be heard. Still just just one foot at the door, keep walking in.
This thumbnail randomly reminded me that the Sia Astelle class exists. Now I hope it gets added into Maplestory because that's my jam.
Honestly if we get the higher drop rate, the daily, AND no cap, gms got off like bandits. I think the cash shop item removal was just them panicking. It will be back. I don’t have a problem with it being in the game as that stuff comes with the territory for a free game. If I was a kms player, I’d be seeing what gms and sea got and start demanding changes.

I was going to play the new server as a newbie but never playing it now. You can't just shit in someone's cereal, see them get upset and then take the shit out expecting that to make it better. I don't care they took it out, the action to begin with is just icky.
Actually nexon was playing 3d chess, they never intended to keep the cap at 400, but rather it was a distraction to fuel the rage towards this limit so people would not be as mad at other changes such as frenzy and the cash shop booster grab once they "undid" the limit lmao
I dont know how prevalent botting or buying farm illegally is in GMS but it was mentioned in their reasoning. Wonder if this is a real thing?

why you need the sol erda to be tradeable?
I don't but in the reg server, where players can trade. It would be a great incentive to grind so you can sell them. (Also it is like this in KMS)

This isn't common knowledge, but 18 year old games don't usually get a lot of new users. You have a large group of existing players and returning players.
Games this old in general just don't appeal to a large number of newer generation of gamers. The number of new users in maplestory is small. Way smaller than the existing and returning player group. And the amount of new users that reach level 260 is way way smaller.
Nexon is talking about making the game easier for like 0.5% of the player base (ballpark number) by limiting everyone else. It's total bs
To be honest it depends. Old school RuneScape still attracts completely new players today. FFXIV literally doubled their playerbase at a content lull because of the attraction made by Asmongold and other WoW streamers. And many "returning" players from many older MMOs come back after many years to the point they might as well be new players.
That being said, in this particular case, the daily is in honest effort an attempt to attract daily players back in the game, the cap isn't. And we know Nexon is bullshitting on that excuse.
What the game lacks for new/returning players is catch up mechanics, because of how much stuff you need to do to build up your account, legion and mules in particular. Levelling doesn't take especially long, but it easily gets mind numbingly boring doing it for 40 different chatacters, especially when starting from scratch.

Wait which version of Maple just got the cap increased instead of removed today then? Cuz whichever version that was done to, they probably were never actually planning on implementing a 400 Erda cap. And just increased it to make people feel like they achieved something, when really Nexon was always planning to use the "new" number.

@@coppersan I also dont believe the "typo' stuff... I mean, dont they have a quality control team that checks every text , that is proper and correct. I mean, you can also guess what players reactions will be before trying stupid, just to push some other negatives in the game.. to make it look like, Heyy now we removed the cap so please be happpy again, while they get away with the other stuff. This happens lately much more at Nexon, and also the maple memos with trying to improve their communications.. its a mess man xD dont trust nexon
