Lots of angry noobs and expletives lol funny days. I think there are still videos of that out there.

The community really made Maplestory. I miss those days and there is big reason why it was so good though. Maplestory back then had a much more social aspect due to the fact that discord and other VC apps weren't around that time. I love that moment when you could just sit down and chat with a friend or friendly player and communicate through there. Those PQ quests were goated because it actually required communication and learning, everyone was on the same page since the PQs required certain levels.

My most iconic moment is personnal but it's my first time in the game and in a MMORPG. I created my character, upped to lvl 10, I buyed the VIP Taxi like a noob and I gotted teleported to sleepywood... It was imposssible to get out of here... And I seen a player with a name i seen somewhere, I tell him "Sami ?" he seen my name and he said "Nico ?" and that's how I encountered the friend who talked to me about Maplestory at school. We are still best friend 16 years after that and it's still a very big moment for us in our friendship.
That's a wonderful memory. In 2005, 7th grade, 2 friends and I started Maple together. Around grade 9 or 10, one of the two friends stopped so just me and the other dude hanging out on maple. There were breaks here and there but we played together in middle school, high school and then university. That dude is my longest duration friend who I still maintain close contact till this day, almost 20 years later.
Cool story, maplestory was the actualy virtual reality that we are trying to make these days. It was so fun and felt very friendly to log in and just meet people fr!
Having a pan lid as a shield was rare, throwing steelys meant that you were rich, hermits were the only class that had flash jump, and doing a super long quest to be able to buy summoning rock to use that shadow ability I forgot what its called.

Possibly killing the fun a little, but were they friended with you or something? Even then, I forgot most of the names of the people I liked. Though I do have the memories at least.
I smuggled back in the day, tickets for KPQ, Ludi Pq, Orbis PQ you name it lol. Fun times. I do remember that Xmas event with a giant snowman that everybody in the server tried to kill and I DC’d and lagged out so many times, hoping to get some ilbi throwing stars from the presents that dropped. Man oh man scrolling back in the day, work gloves, Pink Adventure Capes with chaos scrolls, using hammers and trying for 14 att WG’s. I miss the simpler times 🥺

My favorite old Maplestory moment? All of them. But if I had to pick one; back in old Henesys, all the way to the left by the taxi there was some hay stacks you could jump on. Well if you stood on the second level and dropped an item or mesos it would of course rest on the top of the third haystack above you. If someone went to pick it up, it would glitch and crash their game. So I used to troll and drop a 1k meso bag on it and watch as everyone would try and loot it only to have their game crash. They'd log back in and be like "My game crashed, that was weird" or something like that and try to loot it again. Eventually they'd catch on and stop trying to pick it up but it gave me a good laugh. Edit: Notable memories I wanted to add are grinding in the Ant Tunnel for hours to get to lv30, farming CPQ nonstop to get to 50, PQ's in general were amazing, taking the boat to Orbis and watching a high level player (rare btw) fight and kill the Balrog, opening monster bags in towns to kill other players, using accuracy potions on my warrior so I could actually hit the stumps next to Perion, drop gaming in either the Kerning shop or Henesys salon, showing new players some secret maps like Pig Beach between Hene and Lith. There's honestly too many things to mention. I'm 31 now and I started this game when I was 10 thanks to my friend. I'll have to reach out to him and find out if he still plays or keeps up with Maple.
The Orbis ship was my favorite, I loved meeting people on there and hiding from the balrogs. It was 15 minutes of torture, the flight took so long, but it is some of my most cherished Maplestory memories. Once they took the community/social aspect out of the game, it died. They should've taken the hints...

I'm Chinese and was born in 93, when I was little I was playing a lot CMS, back then classic MapleStory has some classic scams that is so impressive until today, like always one guy with fancy nx cosmetics standing in the hospital of the abandoned city map, lure you to drop some stuff and they will just use the magnet function of hacks to get your item, and also some guy with nice gear and cosmetics claim that they can copy and paste stuff lure you in the trading screen and use some words with Y letter in it to scam you to agree the trade.
for me my Nostalgia moment is farming maps in parties. Wether that was in a party leeching while one person obliterates the map or if its multiple people farming the same map, I miss that.
My fondest memory was the boat from orbis to ludi and landing in ludi for the first was actually magically to me as a kid still my favorite area in the game.
GPQ will always hold a special place in my heart because I was my guild's dedicated sacrifice. Back when damage didn't go above 4 digits unless you were mega funded.

I remember when waiting for LPQ opening a monster bag when the track was almost done this would displace the leader who use AC and help us get in. Also in PQ we had to decide if we want to do bonus or exit after Alistar to try to get in again but funnily enough it did work most of the times. Another memory was exploring the new areas with friends that was always a good time. Racing down the Orbis tower with another or up. People fighting for the mage section for LPQ 😂 Doing the standing puzzle part and people asking GMS or KMS style and more times than enough someone wouldn’t know KMS so they had to go stand on 1 like it was the cone of shame 😂
There was a nightlord called Maverin in EMS and he was so high lvl that when he would show up in henesys or the freemarket everyone would follow him making the game lag so much😂 There were even ppl recording him like he was justin bieber or something and the videos got thens of thousands of views on yt
Wouldn't surprise me with how much abuse we've been receiving lately. Especially as a content creator centered around a game where the company constantly tries to kill their own game.. just doesn't seem too profitable.
My most cherished memory of maple was during beta. Two of my friends and I were in a skype call while we were exploring sleepwood at our low levels of 2x. We transverse the ant tunnel, found the evil eye cave, found drakes and wild cargos. And eventually saw a tauromacis for the first time! We lost our minds! We were freaking out trying to avoid them, to not die and explore further!
I remember the trust someone from a different time zone, had in selling something to me through Basil Market, so they used the in game delivery NPC to deliver the product. No seller protection, just trust that I would eventually send the mesos their way. I did of course, but I thought that was such a big risk on their end.
Exploring areas with my friend where we were way underleveled just to see the new maps and cool monsters, and to push how far we could go! I also loved traveling around the entire circled of maps just to see how fast I could do it, back when victoria island was a circuit with no central crossroads

I remember freaking out seeing the Aran commercial on TV because that was the first time I’d ever heard about it. A brand new class AND I just saw Maplestory on TV??? That was insane
So many memories of the early days. I had to delete my first character because it didn't have the accuracy to hit green mushrooms. I made like 15 characters whose only purpose was to do the Subani's Legacy quest for the free GFA60%. Getting stuck in Omega Sector. Dying on the boat to Orbis because I stayed outside and died to the Balrog.
The Christmas event every year that they would open up trees for you to decorate. I believe there’s competition every year in Sleepywood and I would always decorate my tree nicely and take pictures.
Drop game with hackers was always fun drop a good item and pick it up then they drop a good item and pick it up then you drop your best item they pick it up across the map and immediately disconnect
My favorite memory has to be becoming strong enough to go to Pig Beach and offering to kill the Iron Hog for people grinding there. That was the biggest ego boost I have experienced in my LIFE

Completing certain quests like the one requiring the nependeath honey was impossible back then. Even in the Free market, the item costed like 400mill+. The drop rate was so wild
-Remembering that I had to buy the installation CD from a shop is already a huge nostalgia trip for me. -Maple weapons, surfboards, umbrellas, roses the scramble to get them -3rd job advancement was a huge achievement -Dropping my gg scrolled hinomaru just for fun while doing Orbis PQ and having the party exit. Lost the item, so much pain. -Entering Ludi, Aqua Road, El Nath, the space place was so much fun. -Messing up the builds because I was a complete noob and had to create new characters. -Grind was hell but so much satisfaction was gotten from leveling. - Moving slowly as most classes until a thief used haste. Now every class has teleport / what not. -Climbing the Orbis tower because I was a cheapskate.
I remember a friend of mine convinced me to do the hair quest and I went from Unkempt to Toben. I told her she ruined my character and I had to make a new one hahah xD My iconic moment was always being the only person carrying teleport to nearest town/teleport to specific town scrolls and I would save a lot of people being stuck somewhere. Felt like a hero.
My favorite memory is constantly going on Orbis ship to “hide” from the Balrogs while all the higher level players killed them. I remember going towards the balloon area so I could safely watch them kill them. Made so many memories on that ship.
You took me down memory lane with this one gang… good times good times. Ludibrium party quests were fun asf. I just realized I still had my account after like 12 years I got my shadower to level 180 in a week from 100 a lot more face paced for sure. No complaints here
Old EMS when they use to have the Big tomato boss spawn was pog. and also the exp things that used to drop from mobs in EMS way back, cant remember if it was an event or not.
I do miss the old days of going to Orbis and spam clicking someone's character in the cabin so you could bypass the loading zone and stand underneath everyone. Failure often meant death because of the Crogs.
When 4th job came out, pretty sure every single priest that was strong enough to advance was "training" in henesys hunting grounds. hahaha. Genesis was such a cool skill though.
I remember when grinding and questing on Adventurer classes was sooo slow. Getting that character to 120 showed you were so pro and devoted... Now, you can get a class to 120 in a day. That's cool and all, but it makes me wonder if the spirit is still there 😅
I miss exploring, I guess. A friend of mine who was 20-30 levels higher than me took me to many places I never knew about. Going down Eos Tower and exploring Omega Sector for the first time, fighting Rombot going back up. Or the first time I walked to coolies, all the way from El Nath. It was way harder to go places and actually see maps and mobs you could only know through hidden-street.
i remember recently becoming a hunter, and my friends (lv40~50) took me to explore the caves in aquarius. We died a lot,and made plans for eventually fighting pianus, which we had absolutely no idea whatsoever on the requirements, so we assumed we could combine forces and slay it together at lv70ish.
Pre-Big bang days/OG Balrog days Waiting over 24 hours to download Maplestory back in the day. Everybody running to go get to be a Pirate. Using a Dexless sin or some overpowered level 50 in Spiegelmann's carnival PQ to farm necklaces. OG Cygnus knights with their little Pokemon ball summons. People throwing items up on the little house thing outside of Hennessy's player market portal and noobs trying to get those items by jumping. Sauna/Bathrobes with bamboo hats with racoon/treebranch/rat mouth with stormcasters/facestompers/pink adventurer cape... crystal ilbis maplestory events with GM's, for me, specifically in the Christmas village/Perion/Hennessy. Summon bags in Kerning PQ area (specifically Showa Male boss) which was unkillable except for some actual no lifers waiting literally 15 minutes to use the Orbis ferry and getting killed by the Balrogs on the ship. Broken Glasses PQ, and grinding mobs to get a red whip in Ludibrium/Eos tower. People dropping 1000 meso bags to seem rich to poor noobs. and Henny Hoes- idk if they're still a thing or not today.

Doing the standing puzzle part and people asking GMS or KMS style and more times than enough someone wouldn’t know KMS so they had to go stand on 1 like it was the cone of shame 😂
There was a nightlord called Maverin in EMS and he was so high lvl that when he would show up in henesys or the freemarket everyone would follow him making the game lag so much😂 There were even ppl recording him like he was justin bieber or something and the videos got thens of thousands of views on yt

Wouldn't surprise me with how much abuse we've been receiving lately. Especially as a content creator centered around a game where the company constantly tries to kill their own game.. just doesn't seem too profitable.

My most cherished memory of maple was during beta. Two of my friends and I were in a skype call while we were exploring sleepwood at our low levels of 2x. We transverse the ant tunnel, found the evil eye cave, found drakes and wild cargos. And eventually saw a tauromacis for the first time! We lost our minds! We were freaking out trying to avoid them, to not die and explore further!
I remember the trust someone from a different time zone, had in selling something to me through Basil Market, so they used the in game delivery NPC to deliver the product. No seller protection, just trust that I would eventually send the mesos their way. I did of course, but I thought that was such a big risk on their end.
Exploring areas with my friend where we were way underleveled just to see the new maps and cool monsters, and to push how far we could go! I also loved traveling around the entire circled of maps just to see how fast I could do it, back when victoria island was a circuit with no central crossroads

So many memories of the early days. I had to delete my first character because it didn't have the accuracy to hit green mushrooms. I made like 15 characters whose only purpose was to do the Subani's Legacy quest for the free GFA60%. Getting stuck in Omega Sector. Dying on the boat to Orbis because I stayed outside and died to the Balrog.

The Christmas event every year that they would open up trees for you to decorate. I believe there’s competition every year in Sleepywood and I would always decorate my tree nicely and take pictures.

My favorite memory has to be becoming strong enough to go to Pig Beach and offering to kill the Iron Hog for people grinding there. That was the biggest ego boost I have experienced in my LIFE

Completing certain quests like the one requiring the nependeath honey was impossible back then. Even in the Free market, the item costed like 400mill+. The drop rate was so wild

-Dropping my gg scrolled hinomaru just for fun while doing Orbis PQ and having the party exit. Lost the item, so much pain.
-Entering Ludi, Aqua Road, El Nath, the space place was so much fun.
-Messing up the builds because I was a complete noob and had to create new characters.
-Grind was hell but so much satisfaction was gotten from leveling.
- Moving slowly as most classes until a thief used haste. Now every class has teleport / what not.
-Climbing the Orbis tower because I was a cheapskate.

I remember a friend of mine convinced me to do the hair quest and I went from Unkempt to Toben. I told her she ruined my character and I had to make a new one hahah xD
My iconic moment was always being the only person carrying teleport to nearest town/teleport to specific town scrolls and I would save a lot of people being stuck somewhere. Felt like a hero.
My favorite memory is constantly going on Orbis ship to “hide” from the Balrogs while all the higher level players killed them. I remember going towards the balloon area so I could safely watch them kill them. Made so many memories on that ship.

I do miss the old days of going to Orbis and spam clicking someone's character in the cabin so you could bypass the loading zone and stand underneath everyone. Failure often meant death because of the Crogs.
When 4th job came out, pretty sure every single priest that was strong enough to advance was "training" in henesys hunting grounds. hahaha. Genesis was such a cool skill though.
I remember when grinding and questing on Adventurer classes was sooo slow. Getting that character to 120 showed you were so pro and devoted... Now, you can get a class to 120 in a day. That's cool and all, but it makes me wonder if the spirit is still there 😅
I miss exploring, I guess. A friend of mine who was 20-30 levels higher than me took me to many places I never knew about. Going down Eos Tower and exploring Omega Sector for the first time, fighting Rombot going back up. Or the first time I walked to coolies, all the way from El Nath. It was way harder to go places and actually see maps and mobs you could only know through hidden-street.
i remember recently becoming a hunter, and my friends (lv40~50) took me to explore the caves in aquarius. We died a lot,and made plans for eventually fighting pianus, which we had absolutely no idea whatsoever on the requirements, so we assumed we could combine forces and slay it together at lv70ish.
I rememver a friend taking me down eos tower with the thief stealth skill , and then left. I was stuck there for weeks.
