    Watching this on waking has set me up for the day. It is wonderful to feel as if I am back there again after over seventy years and to see it all in such unspoiled condition. It's impossible to choose favourite bits, but the sky, trees, bird sounds and greenness linger in my head. Glad you confirmed it was Pendle Hill I spotted. Great stuff! Thank you so much.

      I'm glad you enjoyed it and it managed to give you an outside feel to the start of your day. The scenery is still all unspoilt there and hopefully it will be for many more years to come. Early May is my favourite time there, when the leaves are back on the trees, there are far more birds around, bluebells and the smell of wild garlic lingers through the woods.

    In Malham next week and looking forward to this walk - scenery in the video looks amazing. Walking in the footsteps of Harry Potter as well.

      How you enjoy - snow forecast for the end of the week so could look very picturesque, although limestone could be slippy. Enjoy the walk…

    Thank you so much for this video. We are coming to England tomorrow from France and we plan to do this walk with our kids. It helped me see that it is ok. Was a bit worried about the steps… very well made video 👍👍👍

      Thank you - always good to get feedback and positive comments 🙂 It's looking as though it could be a little wet for you tomorrow, but the weather is better monday and thursday, if you are still here then. It's great scenery on this walk for relatively(!) little effort, but if it is wet, you just need to be careful walking on top of the limestone, as it can be slippery when wet.

    I can’t think of any way this video could have been better. The judicious use of fast-forward was perfect for my taste, and the commentary was good.
    It elevates my spirits to know the English, well some of them, still have such beauty and freedom to Roam in it. And on such elegant, naturalistic, well-looked-after paths and gates.

    • @walks4all
      @walks4all  5 місяців тому

      Thanks for the comments and glad you enjoyed the video 👍 We do still have quite a lot of places where we can freely roam and all the national parks do a great job of looking after the footpaths…and councils too (well…sometimes!)

    The OS fly through app near the end us a great way to show the walk not only an accurate distance but also an elevation guide.

    • @walks4all
      @walks4all  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks - I do like the OS app for that - it is only avaiable on their paid for version rather than the free one, but I do think it gives a great perspective and helps on planning walks. I think a similar thing is available on a couple of the other apps, but having used OS maps all my life, I've just kept with the OS version, which I think works great for things like this.

    I did this walk today. Beautiful scenery. Be very careful on the limestone pavement at the top of the cove they were quite slippy today.

    • @walks4all
      @walks4all  Рік тому +1

      Glad you enjoyed the scenery. Many great geological features around there in the Dales - but yes, guess one downside of limestone is that it can get very slippery especially when wet.

      @@walks4all I conquered my vertigo a few years ago, by standing at the edge of limestone pavement to photograph Malham Beck far below. The view from the top is incredible and really brings home how massive Malham Cove really is.

    • @walks4all
      @walks4all  Рік тому

      @@DaveBartlett That is certainly one place to conquer your vertigo with the drop off the edge! The limestone pavement does provide wonderful views and great photo opportunities. Being there on the top does really let you feel just how big it really is. It never feels quite as high from the bottom looking up, as it does from the top looking down...

      Glad you enjoyed - can’t 100% remember but pretty sure it was cash and cardless. If you are there early enough or on quieter days midweek, some free roadside parking as you head into Malham just before the car park on the left.

    Is it possible to camp at the bottom of malham cove?

    • @walks4all
      @walks4all  6 місяців тому +1

      TBH I’m not sure.
      Legally maybe not, but on very early morning walks I have seen the odd tent there that was packing up.
      Where I have seen more tents very early morning is on top of the cove the far side of the pavement and further up near Malham tarn. I’ve also seen people on the flat approach to Gordale Scar.
      There is an official campsite as you leave Malham towards the cove.
      Sorry not much help here but the only wild camping I really do is on the Lakeland Fells.
