Very clear and well-presented video.. brought back many memories of when i walked it a lot from lots of different directions. ATB from Canada 🙏

Thank you! I’ve done another Pendle Hill walk from Barley using two more directions via Ogden Clough and Boar Clough - hopefully you’ll recognise those as well…

I’m glad you are enjoying the speeded up style! Broken toes and bad weather have stopped recent video walks, but hoping to start getting back out again next week and there are a couple of west pennine ones I’ve got planned over the next couple of months…

We did this walk yesterday, but decided on the gravel path up and steps down. Weather was a bit muggy and wet but a great walk! We didnt get the views as the mist was quite thick at the top. Need to do this again.

Unfortunately that seems to be the weather we’ve been getting all year, but hopefully we might get some summer soon! It is worth doing again to get the views…

Interesting and very well made video - we are walking this today and hoping for a sunny lunch in the Pendle Inn. There looks to be quite a few ways up and down Pendle Hill that we’ve noted down from your videos.

Thank you - always good to get positive feedback 🙂 It could be busy in the Pendle Inn today as I believe it’s the Pendle pub walk for the hospice, so there could well be a couple of thousand people wandering between Barley, Blacko, Barrowford, Fence and Roughlee…

Glad you enjoyed it - I've filmed a couple more longer Pendle videos, which hopefully should be up in the next week or two - flu/bad throat just stopping me from doing the voiceovers at the minute!

Great video even though i live in Southport i had no idea of how to walk thr hill , very informative well done, just one question would this be able to be done at safely??

I’m not sure whether predictive text kicked in, but did u mean could this be done safely?
This route is reasonably easy to follow even in bad weather. It is only the section over the top that can be harder to see in bad visibility.
If you are walking Pendle from Barley there are a couple of other good picturesque routes up that I have on my other Pendle video…

It depends upon your fitness level and walking speed, but anything from about 1 hour 20 mins to 2 hours 15 mins.

You will probably be down at the lower end then timewise…not sure on your itinerary whilst you are over here, but if you have a car and are planning more walking, there are some lovely walks in the Yorkshire Dales about 30 mins drive away (I’ve a few videos on some of them) or in the Lake District, about an hour further north…

Thanks for this, very useful as I plan on visiting this Friday. What would you suggest for a person in recovery so not so fit at the moment, the steps or gravel path route?
    Thanks

    • @walks4all
      @walks4all  2 місяці тому +1

Glad you found the video useful. The steps are quite a bit steeper than the gravel path…but you can stop and have a rest on both routes to enjoy the views! I find the view better going up the steps, so generally do it that way round as my knees much prefer the gravel down instead of the steps down, but you could do gravel both ways, which TBH is probably the easier route.

Can anyone tell me if this route is dog friendly? I have a pretty big dog that doesn’t massively like stiles that’s all.
Great video thank you for the information

Glad you enjoyed the video. As you leave Barley there is a kissing gate, and then a wooden bar to get over to get onto the bridge not too far after that. There are 2 more kissing gates on the way around, then the same again coming back if you follow this route. There are no stiles as such to climb over. If you went Ogden Clough or boar Clough routes, on the other video, there is just one kissing gate and 2 gates. No stiles…hope that helps.

Sorry, missed your second reply. Rather than the steps there is a wide gravel path that heads up diagonally left from the bottom of the steps - the one that I come back down. That should be much easier to walk on and has far fewer trip risks...and can be used then for both the up and down routes.
