Bonehoard > crew the copter > swing with both. Blocks the 7/6 trample with both and takes one trample, plus 3 from copter. Should be a win in match 2 game 3.
Yeah and a removal spell shouldn’t have been a concern because if Sam had one, then he would have cast it the turn prior to get a lethal attack through.
1:15:38 Instead of putting two lands back and planning to Metamorph the Carnosaur next turn, I wonder if it would have been better to put back Metamorph (keeping a land) and flipping Metamorph this turn. As it turns out, you’d even get to keep a land to play Firestorm this turn.
@@DrMonty-ng5fo Yeah. It was a brutal play, but it didn't seem like game over and definitely something that could be fought against with a top decked removal.
Nexus does get to turn all those extra mana sources into proactive plays, which is nice - helps with one of the common issues I've noticed with this sort of deck, that you need as many lands as normal plus mana rocks meaning flooding is a real risk.
Is Crucible/Strip Mine powerful enough that it's worth hate drafting if there's a good card for yourself? I don't think so. If my opponent has that in his deck it's not something that makes me go oh no.
@@Stokkeland23 From my perspective, it's one of the best two card combos in cube. I've rarely seen someone win vs early Crucible/Mine. Especially to pass it pack 1
@@MatthewForsytheHiI hard disagree on that. It's very far from a Thassas Oracle and Demonic Consultation. Like you can play lotus, moxen and mana artifacts. I think Strip/Crucible is a fair combo. Fair and good and nothing more than that. It's on par with Thopter Foundry combo. Good but far from a guaranteed win.
Yeah crucible strip is cool and all but you need to already be ahead or at least at parity and if at parity requires other cards to get ahead, if you are already ahead basically anything wins. Crucible strip does nothing when you are getting beaten down by decks that function on 2-3 lands. I don't even know if I'd put it in top 10 two card combos
Im still waiting for someone to force green because nobody ever drafts green at these tables. Makes you wonder if the nut Gx deck is better than a 3 color pile like this one.
That first match was painful to watch, our opponent drafted much stronger cards and was running super hot by drawing the right situational answers every time.
I have a completely unsubstantiated theory that, these days, committing early to a strategy that requires fast mana to keep up is big risk. Those cards are high value picks for most decks, the opponent drafters are incredibly savvy (and as such likely to cut you if they can) and the cube list is just so streamlined in general these days. We're down to just the "best" ramp pieces afaik, so there aren't many of the old low-value ones you that one could use to fill in those slots. I've been wanting to collect data from these videos for awhile, just for fun. Hopefully I've got time soon and I can look into verifying this by looking at the winrate of decks that "need acceleration" (maybe as of pack 2+?) vs the others.
This was a bit of a subpar draft for you Luis. You could've had a sick Green based OR Blue/Black control deck but you got a bit fixated on how crazy you could make your deck go but also passed Crucible, and Stripmine/Wasteland was odd.

im surprised he didnt see that play. Board wasn't that complex
@@davidhickey8613I wonder what his opponent was thinking when the bonehoard came down after combat hahaha
@@davidhickey8613 He was on tilt the majority of the draft--We've all been there.
@@davidhickey8613 It was weird too because he definitely considered attacking with copter but only focused on the loot and not the damage.
That second pick Urza was the most certain pick of all time. Watching LSV talk himself into it tho was funny.
Was definitely one of lsv’s picks of all time

One possible line could have been to brainstorm the Metamorph back on top to discover into it with the Carnosaur! :)

The absolute saltiest I've ever seen LSV lol
I was going to say the same, lol. Very uncharacterstic for him.

Forth Eorlingas would have been really good in this deck, shame he didn't get to include it.........................
That steam vents draw in 56:34 was just hilarious
Those Eorlingas just didn't want to go Forth.

Anton's deck looks sweet! What a brew. Sad (but unsurprised) that it went 1-2
Looking forward to seeing Simulacrum Synthesizer on action
@1:02
Attacking with both the dinosaur and Copter would have put him to 0 life
still in the pre-game... mildly surprised no discussion of crucible/wasteland/stripmine, but obviously could've happened off camera with the teamates
I feel like this draft really went off the rails early. Getting pulled into big-red seems really sus, given how the packs played out.
I would like to see how instill energy would perform in this cube.
should have played that forth eorlingas
I feel like you force those colors if you get that card same with minsc and boo
I'm very curious what deck you might have ended up with if you went the golgari route
Nice haircut LSV!

jujubean once again tutoring every card. rofl
I think Firestorm isn’t worth the cube slot. It only works in such specific scenarios.
Pros will literally do anything to avoid drafting green lmao
lsv punt a won game rip lol
Funny, I was wondering what your thoughts were on Nexus. Also, first

Every pack was a choice between a terrible deck or drafting wide open green. Terrible deck it is!
So terrible deck or terrible deck? Easy choice, go for the terrible deck.
thank god it’s not an OTJ video where he drafts another UR deck 😊
what a shitty limited format
I've been enjoying the OTJ videos, but each to their own
I'd have stopped at: "Thank God it's not an OTJ video." 😆

He first picked the Workshop, but he wheeled a Signet and got passed if not wheeled Name Sticker Goblin and Simian Spirit Guide.

Passing crucible strip wasteland probably wasn't the best

You can always find a better set of picks if you have the advantage of hindsight.
The real problem was that LSV opened terribly. First picking that Workshop seemed questionable, though.
Your opens have been horrendous lately😢
LSV: I hope I don't get Hullbreacher
