Ahhhh the magic of "stereophonic sound" during Alice Lon's little TV demonstration. Today's generation are so spoiled and can't imagine how much of BIGGIE "stereophonic sound" was back then, compared to old-fashioned "mono" one track sound. Only fours years young back then, so it's great fun to see the fashion and ways of life back in 1958. Thanks so much for sharing this back in 2019!!! ;o)

Thanks for posting! Several sections in this video which I especially liked, and recommend, are:
    1) starting at 0:00 , the show begins with a splendidly arranged "Orchestra - If This is Love" instrumental song.
    2) then immediately afterward, 'Champagne Lady' Alice Lon introduces Lawrence Welk (in stereo, in a visually dramatized way).
    3) Starting at 4:44, first Lawrence Welk and then Alice Lon explain to the television audience at home how the show can be listened to in "stereophonic sound". She gives a demonstration of how to do it -- set in a model living room. Then the camera goes back to Lawrence Welk in front of the Orchestra, where he begins another instrumental orchestra song (buoyant and optimistic sounding), while the names of American cities with the new broadcasting technology are shown on-screen in a unique way: approx. 50 different cities, states, and station ID's (4 capital letters) roll by, like credits at the end of a movie, except you can still see the orchestra and its members performing their music, live in front of the studio audience.
    4) Starting at 10:36, there is some unusually good tap dancing shown. ("Side by Side" song) I wish I was in that kind of shape.
    5) Starting at 43:38, Lawrence Welk introduces the next song, sung by Buddy Merrill and Kathy Lennon (one of the Lennon Sisters), called "How'd You Like to Love Me?" A pleasant diversion.
Before the song begins, the Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Welk, introduces the skit with these words:
"Bashful Buddy Merrill is next with a cute love song. We talked Buddy into singing a duet with lovely little Kathy Lennon."
    Enjoy!

I was eleven when this show aired. I had forgotten that so many young performers were featured at that time, especially Cubby O'Brien.

The Lennons hit a home run with "Stay as Sweet as You Are," especially the oldest sister.

The rag that Mike plays at the piano is “12th Street Rag”. Thanks for uploading!
