Who says wholesomeness in entertainment went out of style? Thank you very much for showcasing The Lawrence Welk Show on ABC-TV from March 9, 1957, sponsored by Dodge (by 1961, Geritol replaced Dodge as the sponsor of the Welk Show). Boy, was Alice Lon (original Champagne Lady) a lovely looker. I understand Mr. Welk fired her because she was deemed too flirtatious with the guys in the Champagne Orchestra. Not sure how true it was, but she was eventually replaced by Norma Zimmer, whom I do remember. Again, thanks for presenting this episode.😊
at 7:40, "Love Me Tender" - Lennon Sisters -- with an introduction by Lawrence Welk. Then at 53:55, "Schön Rosemarin" - orchestra (happy instrumental song, which includes some nice dancing near the end). Then at 55:45, "Champagne medley". Recommended.
Happy to be the first one to say THANK YOU for posting this classic Welk Show!!! Only 3 years old at the time, but grew up with my family gathering in front of the TV every single Saturday night to enjoy these grand shows!!! ;o)
My grandmother use to wait until grandpa went to sleep and her a a couple of friends would go to the Arrogon ballroom to see Lawrence Welk and dance all night, anyone remember the Arrogon ballroom in Santa Monica?
