Tom Netherton was tremendous. What'll I Do is a great song for his voice.

It's funny watching Ava Barber here. When she first joined the Welk show in 1974, she seemed sooo nervous on her early performances (understandably, since she had done very -- if any -- TV to that point), but by '77, she had developed into an extremely solid and enchanting performer, who was able to instantly connect with the audience, no matter type of music she was singing. Her performance here is a delight.

So many great and enjoyable shows Mr. Welk gave to us over the years. This is perhaps my very favorite episode of all of the tremendous shows from all of the Welk singers and performers and arrangers. Thank you for allowing us to watch this episode once more. My granny had this set and played it every Christmas. Just picked up my own vinyl set on eBay. Great memories of her homemade pumpkin pie, cracking mixed nuts and that terrible hard candy in that green glass dish :)

Lawrence Well always had a quality of perfection. I love the playing, the singing, and the dancing. What a time for quality! Andy Williams, Perry Como, Bing Crosby would soon have some amazing shows and specials. New Year's eve was always a fight for Lawrence Well or Guy Lambardo.

I remember as an 8 yr old , my parents watching LW many years. Iam 79 now, a single man, and watch it with my cats.

O, this was such a wonderful and sacred episode, The Lawrence Welker Show was a spectacular picture, it is wonderful I can still watch it so much on UA-cam. 🎼🙏

My Daddy was German and when I was tiny i would sit on his lap & watch Lawrence Welk our favorite show. He passed away when I was 6 but I continued to watch and think of him. Such pretty music, my Mom loved the Christmas specials every year on PBS towards the end of her life. My wife and I love them too!

This was a wonderful show. I wish the major networks would consider creating a show with this much variety and talent.

People were better looking back then and carried themselves with a lot more sophistication.

I noticed he was still using Bubbles In The Wine at the end . When did they start using Adios, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehn?
