My mom works for Santa Clara county hospital and she hasn’t had a day off in 4 months and that isn’t exaggerating she works from home on every day off she is supposed to have. It is so cruel how long and hard our healthcare workers are being pushed especially when they’re mothers fathers and sons daughters who need to not only care for others loved ones but also their own. It’s so sad to watch people just deteriorate from overworking themselves.
THIS!! I'm so sick of people saying the survival rates are high so why worry. California ICU beds are at 0% around many of the counties, and of course I feel for the patients, but especially the health care workers. They're the ones going from hospital bed to hospital bed trying to look after everyone, watching the toll and chaos first hand, and many can't even protect themselves from Covid the way they should do to lack of PPE or space.
I pray for your family and mom. Hopefully you guys are able to stay safe, and see gets time off soon. The doctors and nurses need to take care of themselves too. 💔💔

my friend is an er nurse in ny and since the pandemic he has taken two months of vacation
It's hard to watch this video without crying. My family was infected with Covid-19 last August. As a family of nurses (My mom, sister, brother, and myself) there was a chance that we might get infected by Covid-19 while working, and it did. It started with my mom and she tested positive for Covid-19 and then it spread within the family after a week or so (since we lived in one house). Luckily, my sister and I were asymptomatic and were fine but my mom, father, and brother were sent to the ICU due to them having severe Covid-19 symptoms. They spent 2 weeks or so staying in the ICU. My mom was the first one to get back home and then my brother was next. But sadly, my father did not make it. I really miss him and I still can't believe that this happened. Even now, we still go to work and try our best to help people who are suffering from Covid-19 and people who are in need. This is really heartbreaking to watch. Stay safe everyone and take care.

@kcuf elgoog my 86 year old gramma who smoked 2 packs a day of unfiltered for over 3 decades, leading to severe chronic MAC lung disease which she has had for over 2 decades now and it has progressively gotten worse, kicked covid in just over 4 days after being treated with hydroxychloroquine, z-pak, and zinc. that should have made the news but I guess they only cover the extremely rare cases where people go untreated for multiple days/weeks and then show up to the ER already on their deathbed expecting the nurses to fix them.

As a Canadian I do not understand, at all, how this health crisis is so political...it’s life and death, not left vs right. We have a Conservative Premier and a Liberal Prime Minister. They don’t see eye to eye. Guess what, though; they don’t have to. Their only job right now....follow the experts (ie health advisors), and keep people safe. Dead people are non-partisan.

Yes. We are in the undeveloped country. My daughter is a pediatrician and she was issued one N-95 mask in three months because there was shortage of PPE. Very pathetic! Leadership failure, that is the understatement.

Huge huge huge thanks and gratitude to all health care workers. You are truly gifts from God. I work at a nursing home as a receptionist and I see the nurses struggling there. I cannot imagine how it's like at a hospital right now. Again thank you for all you do and continue to do.

Most of them are wearing N95s under surgical masks when they are around the patients. Though of course, there is a shortage/fakes and N95s have some issues.
My Aunt and and Uncle used to work at St. Mary’s. . They’re retired now but keep in touch with their coworkers. Unfortunately 2 of them passed from covid.

This is the scariest. My dad just got out the hospital Saturday Dec 26th we nearly lost him. I pray that this virus ends. I feel bad for the workers, doctors the sick patients in truly Unfair For everyone but we'll get through this together.
This is because we never came together and got on the same page on how to deal with this. The president's strategy was to downplay it and if every state followed his lead it would be even worse than it is now. Complete failure from the top down.

Seriously like this came as any surprise. We had all year to prepare. What happened to the temporary medical clinics and medical ships that were ready for service?
You can make as many beds as you want. Doesn't mean there is space and nurses and doctors to tend to them. Those come much slower. This is on everyone who didn't take it seriously, and refused to do the bare minimum to save lives by wearing a mask. The US motto is now "Irresponsibility- No single raindrop believes it is to blame for the flood."

@@SmokeymcJoint420 Actually, the case fatality rate currently stands at 2.99%. But that's only the tip of the iceberg. The part that lurks beneath the surface is all the people who get sick, take up a hospital bed for 2 weeks, don't die, but end up with long term serious consequences, such as shriveled testes, heart problems, difficulty breathing, mind fog, kidney disease. Some people will be feeling the consequences of this pandemic for many years to come.
And by taking up so many hospital resources, many other people cannot get the care they need for other issues.

When mankind trys to control nature is the outcome usually good or bad? You can lockdown forever but the viruses and the bacteria and the germs and all the microscopic organisms will still be there. You cannot hide from them unless you want to walk around in a level 4 biolab suit. So whats the best common sense approach when dealing with a virus thats lethal mostly to those over 70? I would say do your best to protect those at high risk and everyone else get on with life and build herd immunity.

I'm 25 with multiple autoimmune diseases, my mom is a diabetic amputee and my grandma has lung issues. I worry for all three of us.
Check into Ivermectin, because it will not only cure it, but also prevent you from catching it. My Mom is diabetic too, and she would have been an amputee, but I found an article on the internet saying that most diabetic foot ulcers are caused by ulcerated gout. I tested the discharge from her foot ulcer with a uric acid test strip and it was high in uric acid. It was mixing with puss and creating a substance called tophi. I stopped the doctor from amputating her foot, and took her to a specialist in Houston, who treated her for tophaceous gout. Those gout crystals will mimic a bone infection on the MRI, and if the doctors have never heard of tophaceous gout, they'll think it's a bone infection. The doctor was wanting to amputate her foot because he thought the infection was going to spread to her leg, but it wasn't an infection. Anyway, if your mother ever has anymore diabetic ulcers, it could be ulcerated gout instead. They are now discovering that everyone with diabetes has gout to varying degrees.

The virus itself is mild. The problem is simply that this is new and a certain population does not have a strong enough immune system to handle anything new. We will see several new pathogens through the years and we cannot face each one with a general, destructive lockdown.

I would check to see that the nearby hospitals have less than five covid patients. That's a relatively small hospital and each count has been concentrating covid patients in just a few or one hospital. They could easily transfer 3/4 of these patients to the unused hospitals.

My family has done our best to keep gatherings as low as possible. Our Christmas was just immediate members instead of the 80 plus we usually have. We live in a state that has a very high homeless population. Most of our streets look like garbage truck exploded. Little to no sanitation. Major cities in between pocketed elderly communities with poor air quality. People are not distancing. Restaurants and bars in my town are FULL. Its a holiday season. We've had constant protest gathered. Not to mention STRESS has a profound effect on the immune system. Many people with out a job or being put on quarantine with little pay. Crime and homicides ever increasing. Rental and available property shortage. Rents and taxes are beyond unaffordable. Terrible health care and no where left to turn for help. We had covid. For 3 days I thought if I cant get more air in I am going to die. And now the eviction memorandum will end and it will coming crashing down again. And our " elected officials" are breaking the banks, the spirits and the bodies of california residents. WE NEED HELP

They handed out enough money to corporations, banks, and wall street overnight to pay for crazy Bernies free healthcare for all and free education plans which we were told was impossible to achieve over 10 years since there was no money.
