you guys dont understand where she is coming from. She is a shy,bashful girl. So when she says nicki minaj..rihanna..ect Those are strong women. They are vocal..they arent scared to show skin. They are dominate. And i think the shy part of grimes idolizes how dominate they are. Its something that is just not in her so when she sees them performing and in interviews..she looks up to them.

Well, they're certainly trying to look less attractive. It looks like they dye their eyebrows black, and they are really thick/wild too. Plus, the practically nonexistent bangs aren't attractive. If a girl is going to have bangs, grow them enough to not highlight their forehead. Both of those aspects are _very_ distracting.
But no, they're not unattractive. They're anorexic skinny though, which is very unattractive/not womanly. Then again, I'm predominantly all about a personality/soul. As long as someone isn't hideous to me, it has all to do with who they are that carries them away to a glowing beauty.

@@Sprite_525 "Innocence is naive". That's not what innocence means though, it means you don't do unacceptable things or are free of guilt. Naive means harmlessly ignorant. People equate innocence with naivety because historically we have had a tendency to associate sex with sin and so people who don't talk about it or act promiscuous are innocent and pure, aka ignorant of the sordid world of sexuality. Thinking that way nowadays is antiquated so I wouldn't assume calling someone innocent is a back handed compliment implying they aren't aware of "those secret things that adults talk about".
She's the nerdy girl in high school that nobody really payed any attention to, but now she's a great nerdy cool artist. She deserves all of this because Visions is a great album.
I am a punk rock musician from Vegas, I like Blondie, Anita Ward, the Tom Tom Club, etc. These are the "MAINSTREAM" acts I like (aside from the punk music I love). GRIMES album VISIONS is a MASTERPIECE. "OBLIVION" is this Era's "SPACE AGE LOVE SONG" (yet in a dark way with different subject matter) by the Flock Of Seagulls (their first album RULES!)
Her evolution has been incredible, she is definitely a musical genius, her albums ‘Art Angels’ and ‘Miss Anthropocene’ are also some of the best albums I’ve heard across the board

as someone who grew up in the punk/indie rock scene where dancing was frowned upon, and women frowned upon even more, there is a real special place in my heart for this kind of music. i really believe that badasses like grimes, austra and tasseomancy are marking an awesome new wave of experimental electronic music and i feel really lucky to be able to go see them live and support them. fuck yeah.

I really like that she's into commercial pop and rap. A lot of underground and 'indie' artists would be too afraid to admit that. At the end of the day, the artists she mentions are actually really really good at what they do.

I saw Pictureplane just about a month ago and he does the same stuff as her, but I actually found it to be a lot cooler than a lot of artists who focus just on their vocals (or any other instrument). It really would have taken away from it if he had just had somebody else mix it for him considering that it's something that he produced himself, and I believe that the same can be applied to Grimes :)
