Wow! Love David Thomas and what a researcher, he made so much sense to me. I pretty much agree with everything he said. Billy WAS rail roaded, the kangaroo court...the same system that exists today. I think that is why I relate to him so much.
Aways thought Billy was a remarkedly sophisitacated person too, and he was tried by the press...just like today.
So Celsa did have a tryst in the peach orchard with Billy (husband passed out drunk?)..but still a couple of questions there for me, read Poe & Garretts books, and no mention of the "sleeping husband" that I can remember?
So much more to Wayne Brazil...have to read David's books! Would love to hang out with him and pick his brain lol.
You covered just about everything...excellent interviw MAG thanks. ❤🤠

It still angers me that Billy was blamed for everything the Regulators did even if he wasn't directly involved. I wonder why he stood out to the press so much because he was constantly unfairly targeted by the press. Billy wasn't an angel by any means but nobody deserves to be harassed like that.

I think the reason was because he was probably the most outspoken and having taken part in every fight that took place he became the most enraging to them. He probably treated the politicians like they werent better than him. He likely was cocky and had contempt for their societal position and they knew it. A criminal or enemy that calls you sir or maam and is polite disarma people. One who is laughing at you that everyone loves who wont acknowledge that youre the law or the boss well you want to “kill” them hahaha

This was a great interview, and Mr. Thomas is indeed impressive. I remember posting a bit of snark on the previous, edited version of the interview, being skeptical of a few things coming in. But even then, Michael challenged me to take stock of Mr. Thomas' detailed research and primary documentation. I promised then that I would read his published works before making a judgement on his credibility, despite my self-colored initial impression. Well, still haven't made the time to read anything, but it didn't take long watching this channel to open my mind, despite pre-conceived notions. As with other events I have immersed myself in over the years, with BTK I had to discount what is not provable and focus narrowly on what the truly reliable information is. My heart wants to believe Billy lived a long, fruitful life. But I no longer let that dynamic dictate what I believe is true. By the time we get to Billy Palooza, I plan to have read all of Mr. Thomas' work on the subject as well as Nolan, Utley and others.

If Billy was faking his death, why would his friends at the funeral, start spreading word that it wasnt him. Brushy was the KID, end of story. Too much proof people who knew the kid signed affidavits swearing he was the kid. Garrett killed Billy Barlow by mistake, he let the kid go, and passed Barlow off as the Kid, he had to or he would have been tried for murder. 18:40 the earliest mention I’ve seen in a newspaper saying Billy was still alive was 1898 when it mentions many tell stories about it around campfires and that a sheep herder was buried instead. It’s pretty unfair for this guy to talk about weight of evidence when he’s never researched the other side and for him to easily dismiss Poe saying “you’ve shot the wrong man” by saying there’s no primary source for it when Pat Garrett wrote in his book published 1882 that is what Poe said and Poe backed it up himself… well it kinda makes you want to change the channel.

@@MichaelAnthonyGiudicissi there were many many Billy the Kids well over a dozen but the 1894 (not 1898) newspaper mentions a story that was told in 1884 about how a sheepherder was killed at Maxwell’s. And a fairly detailed history of the grave, tombstones, Telesfor Boney etc in Ft Sumner was published in Hico Texas around 30 years ago.
