Dear Mr. Jerry. I wanted to write and let you know how much your videos mean to me. I discovered your videos about a year ago while researching Wyatt Earp. About the same time, my father in law was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He and I shared a love for the Wild West and all of the heroes that go along with that time. I would visit my father in law every Wednesday and Friday to sit with him and visit. Some time during those visits I mentioned your videos to him and he said, lets check one out. Well, that started a weekly tradition for us where upon entering his house he’d say, “what’s Jerry got for us today?” We’d listen , drink coffee and sit. Eventually my father in law was confined to the bed as his illness progressed but we continued our tradition of my visits and listening to a Jerry video. Towards the end when he could no longer talk and was in a great deal of pain, I still played your videos on my phone and he seemed to calm down. He died December 29th , 2021. I’ll never forget our special visits during that last year and thank you for making such great videos that brought a little peace to a couple of old cowboy buddies. Take care sir and God bless.

Jerry Skinner is a left wing Southern Democratic. He is a stooge for the AOC types, a guilt ridden white southern male.
This guy is about 120 years out of step with his times. He's still living in the lynch law days of the old South. He thinks Blacks are victims of relentless white oppression. What a dope!

Being a native New Mexican, you know two things in life. First, is the fact that the desert is BIG, hot and empty. Second is the legend of Billy the Kid. THANK YOU so much for giving credence to his story. Kudos to you Mr. Skinner, please keep up the good work. I can only imagine the sheer amount of research you did to produce this video. AMAZING, AND the old tintype photos are simply essential to the tale. BRAVO SIR!!

DNA Confirmed that Billy the Kid actually lived until he died of Natural Causes in his late 70's or early 80's.
He made an effort to reveal the truth, but wasn't believed.
He literally lived h8s life, God Bless him. That had to take some restraint for a young man with reasons to retaliate.
Garrett must have made arrangements with Billy to make his story stick.
He wasn't the turncoat everyone thought he was.
DNA is a valuable tool to validate or invalidate a vast number of History subjects.

I am from the UK and love the story of Billy the Kid. I watched many accounts of his story and they all seemed to contradict each other at various points and left you wondering what really happened. This by far the most detailed and believable account I have seen and love the way it was told. When I was young the stories and films always portrayed Billy as a ruthless killer and while he was obviously no angel, I now see him as a young man who was loyal to those who treated him well and was doing the best he could in what were violent times.

Jerry Skinner provides a certain speaking method in his documentaries that makes you want to listen, and that is what is needed to learn... You are not just "Hearing" him, you are truly "Listening" to the man's teachings... If its not being done already, public schools need to pay him to implement these types of lessons to kids. I would have benefited from a great teacher like this, & maybe kids of today would too... Great Job Mr. Skinner!

I was born and raised in Texas but I was raised learning all about the legend of Billy the Kid and after watching Young Guns 1 the first time I made my mind up at that point that one day I'm moving to New Mexico and then Young Guns 2 came out and I was blown away. Well I've been living in Pecos NM for 15 years now and I have never been happier in my life. I have cousins who were born and raised here in New Mexico and they ran the Mallett feed store in Las Vegas. I've fully enveloped myself with Billy the Kid. I feel a strong connection with him for some reason. I don't care what anyone says Billy isn't an outlaw he was a good guy who got caught up in the corruption of the times. And no matter what people think the Santa Fe ring is still going strong. Here it's who you know and not what you know. But they don't call this amazing state The Land of Enchantment for nothing and if you're looking for real magic then you'll find it in these old mountains. There's history like no other here and an old way of doing things that I don't see changing anytime soon. New Mexico is my home and my bones will be buried in this dirt. I may not be a native born but I promise you I have more love and respect for this great land than many people who were born here. I can't imagine living anywhere else.

Jerry you have a voice to rival any narration I have ever heard on celluloid. You popped up in my “suggestion box” and I’ve since devoured most of the videos on your brilliant channel. It’s also wonderful to finally put a face to these fantastic video films you make.
Your laid back, cool, mellifluous tones, bring an added quality to your work. You always bring a certain dignity to your chosen subjects, as most of them have sadly passed away. You clearly respect there memory and life, giving the viewer an inside perspective into there lifetime and story. Telling a story and putting those pieces together is an art form. You make seamless, subtle editing and musical choices.
In this video, you bring a humanity to the stereo typical perception of the infamous outlaw. Billy the kid was a “human being” with a mother, a brother, friends. acquaintances and a background. I never knew that lots of the original locations still exist. Photographs of Billy’s mother and his gun, his point of view from the jail house window and the other people in the story(like sheriff Pat Garrett), bring to this legendary tale, a more realistic authenticity. This is a historical, visual portal, into Billy’s life. I never would have known of a place called “Stinking Springs”. What a great name!!
It really was the Wild West, a gun shooting lawlessness that makes the average cowboy film look like “a nativity play”. Have you read the book “Blood Meridian” by Cormac McCarthy by the way? I think you would appreciate it and I highly recommend that you do. This film very much reminded me of this book.
I appreciate particularly your videos on the lesser known, perhaps under appreciated actors. These faces that penetrate our tv/film screens and will be forever etched in our memory. You somehow mange to humanise whoever you choose to highlight, like a final swan song or a magnificent mini epitaph.
You probably won’t see his comment but thank you so much for your work, it’s attention to detail and the care with which you execute it.
    Keep them coming!!
    Best, from Liverpool England.🙏❤️.

This was brilliant and very informative. This is probably the most educated story of Billy the Kid that you'll find. I love American history. Apparently, Billy the Kid's roots were from my part of the world, Ireland. His real name was McCarty, an well known Irish name as is Antrim, the county in Ireland I come from.

You have the perfect voice to tell these stories. I could listen to this all day. Also, it's uncanny how much that first supposed picture of Billy looks like Emilio Esteves. How crazy is that? Now I truly feel like Emilio was born to play that part.

This use to be 2 parts each over half an hour. If i remember correctly people complained about it's authenticity so My Skinner had to pull em both and stitch up this new shorter version. I only wished i had downloaded the first 2 part version simply because I never wanted Mr Skinner to stop talking about Billy. Like yourself I could listen to him all day.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip out to Santa Fe, and so thankful i opted to detour through Ft. Sumner. We were there on a brisk spring break day and was amazed at the steady flow of people. Surprised he didn't mention the great flood during the 20s i think. From what I've read, it leaves a lot of doubt about where the grave actually is. Similar situation to Doc's gravesite up the hill in Glenwood, Co. Great documentary!
