May I suggest listening to every song on their debut album, they are all great. The musicianship, lyrics and harmonies are superb. Their second album< Ventura Highway is just as good.
Thanks for playing America again. Lonely People and You Can Do Magic are fantastic songs from them, too. Thanks for the diversity of musical styles and genres you play. That and your caring and empathy for the lyrics, singing, and the credit for all players in the bands is refreshing and appreciated.
This is my number one song from America. When I was 16 in 1979 my girlfriend found out I liked this song and she went out and bought the sheet music for piano and learned to play it and surprised me one day by playing it for me. It was one of the young relationships and sadly only last a few months but she was that first relationship for me, and 45 years later it still reminds me of her and her of me.
im 62, but have sibs 9 and 11 years older. I was in jr high when this was out. I was familiar w/ it but it was def in the peripheral of my life/memory. Last year I was getting my car serviced in car agency, was alone in restroom standing at urinal. Music was being piped in....acoustics in that empty tile restroom were PERFECT. This song came in and I nearly had a religious experience hearing it in such an odd location. it nearly brought me to tears from a rush of indistinct memories....and at that moment was the most moving/beautiful piece of music (and rush of random nondescript memories). Such good memories! Love your content and your personality! thanks for your work!
I've seen America live three times and they are one of the best sounding bands live. They actually sound better live and they spend time talking with their fans after concerts. They are amazing musicians and down to earth people.
"You Can Do Magic" is a later-day (1982) comeback song for them that was a hit. Though they didn't write it, (which was pretty rare), it suited them perfectly.
Sandman, SIster Golden Hair, Lonely People are all great songs. Sandman is a bit of a rocker compared to most of their stuff, really cool vibe to it. There are some videos of them playing some of those songs live in the studio back in the early/mid 70's that are really high quality, I know they have I Need You and Sandman from that session for sure.
America was an amazing band and their sound helped shape the sound of the 1970s. Their great music takes me back to such great times. Please check out "Lonely People" or "Daisy Jane."
Awesome reaction Shawn! 😀 Off the same album… “Donkey Jaw!” It’s time is 5:19… so it’s a little longer. It’s an amazing song! But this whole album is excellent! Thank you! 😀
Great reaction. Thank you for choosing this song. Lots of memories attached to this piece. I don't know if you have reacted to Sandman or not, but it is another song from America you might enjoy.
That sounded great and as others have suggested there are more to react to. Another forgotten yet he was a solo star and talented artist you should react to is Dan Fogelberg. Songs like Leader of The Band, Netherlands, as well as 2 rockers called Power of Gold and Tell Me To My Face which was written by members of The Hollie’s years before this version.
This brings back great memories of my childhood. I remember listening to America on my brother’s 8 track player in the 70’s without a care in the world.
I second the Sister Golden Hair recommendation. Also give the band Firefall a listen as well. Start with "Cinderalla". A sad but all true story for many people over the years.
I wonder if you'd be interested in giving Amy Winehouse a listen, if so, then check this out. "Amy Winehouse - Love Is A Losing Game" (by the channel: Chris O'Gorman) -- This song is by English singer and songwriter Amy Winehouse. It appears on her second and final studio album called "Back To Black" released in 2006. This soulful tune demonstrates Winehouse's vocal range and captures the essence of her ability to emote such heartbreak and vulnerability.... this is magical stuff, bro. And as always, I enjoyed rocking with you and thanks for sharing.
In my opinion, their best album by far is their first, followed by the second and then it went downhill from there. Other songs you should hit all from their first album are Three Roses, Sandman, Rainy Day, Donkey Jaw and Riverside.
Daisy Jane is another incredible song by America even though it’s short and sweet 👍 also their song Lonely People is very memorable ✨
Tinman, Horse with no name,Sister golden hair, all a must
May I suggest listening to every song on their debut album, they are all great. The musicianship, lyrics and harmonies are superb. Their second album< Ventura Highway is just as good.

I don't see the songs Don't Cross The River or Lonely People on your America list. Either of them would be a good next America step.
👆🏼 this is for all the lonely people…

You can do magic, next, please!😊

I second the suggestion of Sandman, but there are so many.
