Easy to see where you got your love of things mechanical. Awesome being able to work on a project with your parents!
Super cool to see your mom and dad working together! And along side of you. Thank you for sharing Jeff. Great stuff as always.
Good looking B. Nice work on the door skins, looking forward to the respray.
How about your mum and dad, do the MGB 'Fun facts', in the next video?
So awesome to see that your folks got into it.
That is so awesome! Great to see your parents so hands on. I am amazed you would even entertain attempting a full respray in 4 days feel like I was watching Chip Foose LOL.
Thanks for your weekly entertainment. Havent missed one upload since you started!!
Great work as ever Jeff. Will see if you complete it in 4 days, as your beetle car became a full on restoration, once you got started.
Good job..impressed with how hands on your parents are..especially your mother.....ahhh more sanding....I know you ran out of sanding work with the Datsun...just had to do some more...hehe
Nice work as always Jeff!! Good to hear you're a South Aussie like me. Your parents property looks like it is in the Adelaide Hills - as is mine. Tiger.
Love this new series. With the quality and quantity of videos, your channel is a hidden gem. Keep up the good work Jeff!
Thanks mate
That's one happy Mama. I bet she's proud of the man her boy Mr. Jeff has become.
'course, to a Mom, we're always still their little boys. ugg.
Very cool she has her son around to take care of such things. That'd have cost a pretty penny.
Welcome to MG ownership! My radiator is held in with 4 bolts... 2 of which are metric and 2 imperial and obviously they aren't close enough to each other so I need to use 2 different sockets to pull my rad out! All part of the fun! ;)
Great effort keep the pace up.
also great camper we own a ultimate and love it.
Love your vids bud.
I love how your mum and dad helped you. I once did a brake fluid flush job on my dad's car and he showed in a suit haHAHa I did all the work but it was fun
My Dad (before I was born) had a MG-TD, then (after I was born), a MG-A.
My oldest brother had a New (from factory) '71 or '72 MG-B (we time and distance rallied in it).
I learned the finer points of shifting after practicing in a '64 Corvair convertible.
Finally I had a '72 MG-B that I had painted from a dark green to a British Racing Green like my brother was. ;-)
good effort for a days work mate! you should do a working bee for those close around you to get stuff done quicker.
I bought a used MGB when I graduated from college, brings back memories...
Dude! we need that Engine(you know the one), almost as badly as you need that engine. When will it finally get bolted where it belongs! love your channel bro
Those cars are a lot of fun. I have a stock one and one with a Ls1 v8.
The one with the LS sounds scary! :)
Na its a lot of fun
I had an automatic MGB, miss that car! Also in SA. I would have painted the inside of the skins before fitting as the etch primer won’t last forever under the weather
Good Son, good on ya mate!
The assistants got the entire car sanded. Looks like you had enough help for and engine out respray!
Not quite enough to get it done in 4 days ;)
@@HomeBuiltByJeff You could do it if you didn't waste time sleeping for 4 days mate....come on, have a go!!! hahahaha. Great work and say g'day to your mum and dad...good to see them on the "tele"..
No Fun Facts with Mum Jeff?
Jeff can you please mention the products and part names you use. The Sikaflex you used what part number please? Thx brother!
Thats really you're doing that for you Mum!!
Jeff you tell fibs re sanding lmao😉😊👍👍
Hah! My local SuperCheap, you should have checked out Pauls Z time attack car while in the area
How big is that Shed! haha...Great work Jeff
I have shed envy too. It is 12x12x4.2 eaves.
Holiday, huh? I also like to work on my holidays :)
Compared to Porsche parts prices, the parts for the "B" must seem downright cheap. BTW, don't the doors feel remarkably light compared to the 911? They sure did to me. Always love the videos. Keep up the good work!!
Everything is cheap compared to the 911 ;)
Indeed. Hope you get that motor back soon, I'm interested in seeing what you've done with it. I'm sure the wait has been agonizing. Keep on keepin' on.
You left the door window in???????
I restored a 72 MGBGT Californian car imported to SA. One of the dogs legs had been bodged by epoxy glueing a flattened coffee tin in and bog.
Haha, why didn't I think of doing that.
was that mount barker supercheap? thats my local.
Yep. I grew up in Mt Barker Springs, and my family are now all in Hahndorf ;)
The dent in the new door skin..... can't be your fault Jeff as your so careful with new panels. Hmmm see 3:30 LOL!
Haha
I was really thinking in getting an 79 MGB that has been on a Garage for 20 years without moving. How bad of a project car is it?
They are a pretty simple car as far as things go. Depends on it's condition.
@@HomeBuiltByJeff thanks! actually the body is pretty good, just need to change one panel, but the motor and transmission should required a lot of work. By the way love the videos, keep the good work!
adriannp161 they are simple cars, and pretty much every single part you can buy new replacements for. Appreciating in value too, there is a dealer who does the up next to my house, 19 to 25k euros each. Just don’t buy a rubber bumper version.
@@ForeverNeverwhere1 the main issue for me is that I live in Costa Rica, so every replacement part will be on the pricey side. And it doesn't have the rubber bumper those seem awful. Thanks for the advice!
Motor and tranny are simple, not a lot of work by todays standards. Would be a good project. If you don't do this stuff yourself, ring around for some ballpark pricing before going further. Good luck mate
You could sell these door skins in the uk ;)
Do as little work as possible. Save up and when theres more duct tape than metal get a full brand new shell from British motor heritage ltd. all the parts assembled in primer.
I have always had gap issues after installing the new door skins. There just is no easy way to do this.
I am pretty impressed actually. The gaps on these are at least as good as the old doors.
Home Built By Jeff that's great. On my 67 firebird they where horrible, but it may just be the brand I used.
What about all the rust in the sills and dog legs :) Most people spend a month on metalwork on a B.
I am actually impressed by how clean this car is, but we haven't dug in deep, so who knows what is in the depths ;)
Was that a Drop bear in the closing sequence?
Yep. They are vicious!
LOL. Stay safe mate...
Cars rebuilt is becoming a family business. Is everyone in your family is an old car addict ???😊😉
My parents were never into cars growing up, only in the last few years.
Need a tour of your Dad's shop. Bet you wish you had it.
I definitely have shed envy ;)
Parents.... useful at last!
Hey Jeff, are they your parents on the video? Why didn't you make a "Dad Jeff & Mom Jeff" section, as "Mrs. Jeff"?? LOL
Since their dog is a border collie, you could have had it working on the car too.
Would have rust threathed the rest of the inside doors, no?
Probably should have, but this thing never sees water, so it should last a while.
13:29 LOL!
What year is the B?
66
Home Built By Jeff That’s interesting that it has reverse lights. LHD export cars didn’t have reverse lights till 67, perhaps it’s a very late 66. It looks to be in very good condition for it’s age, conditions must be a lot more favorable in your area than here in Canada. My 66 is presently undergoing a full restoration, including sills, doglegs, lower wings and a horde of other rusted out components. Originally delivered to Germany, it was only licensed for 8 years before being put into a shed in anticipation of a rebuild. 3 owners later, and after 3 failed restoration attempts, it is slowly coming back life now.
A previous owner replaced the engine and for historic registration it had to be completely original so he converted it to look like a 68 to match the engine and then registered it as that. The reverse lights are just cut in, they mount is flat not raised like a true 68. It is different.
Home Built By Jeff OK, that explains it then. Must be an Australian thing as here the only concern would be the VIN label, the powertrain wouldn’t have any bearing on a Historical designation.
Has Mrs. Jeff has enough of your cars and kick you out? Now you’re at mum and dad’s place to play with cars and have a square meal until she lets you home again?
I feel your pain. It’s an addiction
yuck! i dont know how you manage to use Supercheap auto's wax and grease remover, ive sound it causes all sorts of paint reaction compared to other stuff :(
I have never had a problem on my Z or anything else?
The Sandmans
Looks like your camera might have picked up a bad pixel.
Really, I haven't noticed. I will have a look.
@@HomeBuiltByJeff You can see it around 9:28. It is a red spot about 2/5th from the left and 1/2 way between top and bottom. Maybe it's just a speck of dust on the lens. I thought it might be a focusing laser some cameras have, also.
I can see it now. Damn. I will see how it looks in this next video, but I may have to look into a new sensor for my camera, or a whole new camera.
@@HomeBuiltByJeff Looks like it's time to get some HomeBuilt merch to help out. :-)
sanding = fun,,,lol
S a n d i n g.....!!!
Well a n mgb is no porsche ( well engineered)
And no Datsun Z ( Japanese improved engineering of others R& D , back in Datsun era )
Christ Jeff you’re a sucker for punishment!, hate rust and sanding then pick an MG ! I suppose over there they don’t rust as much but here in the UK, they’re like teabags
It has been garaged it's whole life and it only gets driven on clear days so it is in good nick.
