Good to see it in real time. I've heard mixed reviews about changing out the doorskins, so this was very helpful. Thanks!

Glad this could be of some help, I always go door skins over repairs, unless of course they are un available. I just think it's better to completely removed the rot. Always good to start with good steel.

Interesting to see you fit the skin, however the one thing you didn't do before setting the skin to the inner door shell, was to temporally fit the quarter light to the inner door flange so making sure the outer skin is accurately lined up at the top of the door, this is so important, I've so many skins fitted where the quarter light doesn't accurately line up with the A pillar, then the door has to be rebuilt or scrapped, all because the skin is1-3mm out of alignment at the top.
Personally I would always fit a new door, more money of course but cheaper in the long run. Helpful video though.

That's a fair point, I've had the quarter lights in, fitment was good thankfully, not on film foolishly, it's hard to remember to put everything into film. That's an idea for another video though.
Agreed, I'd rather fit a new door, but have to work with customers budgets and to be fair fitment will still be awful. Thank you for your comments though, always good to get feedback 👍👍

Really pleased I watched this right to the end. I just bought a reskinned door. But on the car it pokes out at the bottom rear and slightly in at the top rear. The bottom of door aligns with sill at front but then gradually moves further out to the back of the door. No adjusting of hinges get's it right but I think the door needs twisting. In at bottom rear and out at top. But can I twist it - no way. But right at the end of your vid you say you don't weld the top part of the door (q'light apertures) until it's on the car. I think I need to cut that and see if the door will twist. It's my last thing to try. May I assume from your comment that the door will flex more readily with that unwelded? I guess intuition suggests yes....

Hiya, absolutely, if it's unwelded you will be surprised how much you can twist and move. Be careful not to go to mad though. Just give it a little tweak at a time. Then once you are happy get it tacked together 👍👍

@@tonyguestautomotive Thanks, you were spot on. I cut thro the welds that had been made and managed to manipulate it by hand. Now sits well.
