    I can't show you how good mine came out, but I can tell you how much I like what it looks like! Thank you very much for the video. I had to wing a few steps you skipped but your video was very helpful. Thanks again.

      @@AlexPlatacis In that case, she's an angel! Thank her for my part! I did the door panels too, but without the stitching. They are much simpler than your two-tone job but I had fun doing that too. Thanks again.👍

    Those threaded inserts are used in model aircraft as motor mounts. the best way to install them is to tread a screw with a nut into the insert, run it into the wood, and when you back the screw out, the nut and screw come out, leaving the insert in place. Great video 😊

    The part number 408-958 finisher set is not a good number for the door. It is the finisher set for the visor. The one part I need which is the RH side front, is no longer available. That is according to the new catalog I just got in the mail for Moss.

    What size inserts did you use?

    • @AlexPlatacis
      @AlexPlatacis  2 роки тому +1

      Well, that depends on the screws you can find. In the video, you will see I changed the screw hole sizes so both were the same. Basically just take the chrome pieces to the store and find a screw that has the right thickness, and fits in the countersink well. In your location that might be metric, or imperial. You may also have limited options in the inserts available.
      Personally I dont recall even taking note of the size. I just rummaged around in the store till I found a suitable combination

    Where did you source the vinyl?

    • @AlexPlatacis
      @AlexPlatacis  2 роки тому +4

      my wife is pretty crafty. She got the vinyl at our local Joanne's Fabrics store. she had some left over from when we stretched new vinyl on the dashboard. I don't have a video of that but I have quite a few photos. maybe I will do a video of that.
      here is a link to the vinyl page at Joann.com
      you can find it at somewhere between $9 - $19 per yard. (gotta work the coupons)

      I did one in Jan...
      It was more of a guided photo tour. but it explains the process a bit. Next week, we will be posting a video on door panels, that will also have some vinyl, and leather work.

    Can’t you just redo the wood piece?

    • @AlexPlatacis
      @AlexPlatacis  Рік тому

      I have seen some people just make them completely out of wood.
      But, yeah, it was close to being redone all together.

      @@AlexPlatacis what’s the best polisher for chrome pieces? Some of my chrome parts started fading and chipping.
      I used chrome color vinyl wrap to do the bumpers but can’t do it in small pieces

    • @AlexPlatacis
      @AlexPlatacis  Рік тому

      @ryan fil the trick with Chrome is all about degree of damage. If you just have discoloration, then lemons and salt trick works well. If you have pitting, you will need to go with something more like a polish. At that point you are polishing the metal more than cleaning up chrome plate.
