  • Earthquake 22 in. Cutting Width with 163cc Briggs and Stratton Engine M605 Walk Behind String Mower.
A great idea that falls a bit short. I have never used one of these before so was interesting learning experience.
Assembly was straight forward , unbox , raise and set handle in position, add oil (10oz), add fuel.
    Engine starts on first pull.
Instructions say to allow ends of cords to cut grass and to slow walking pace with taller/heavier grasses. After that learning curve,
I moved to one of our fields to cut grass down around our burn pile. I had to slow to such a crawl that it was pointless using this mower.
I noticed that a lot of grass was being spun underneath the cutting cords and not being cut. I kept going back over to try to cut them down. For such a device the RPM’s should be higher to facilitate better cutting. I moved back to the lawn area to cut around bushes and other objects where it performed well enough.
It is not a gas hog and I did not need to stop to refuel.
I would never use this as a lawn mower per se.
If you have a regular lawn with a lots of trimming areas to do, this will work. If you need to cut along areas with heavy grass/weed growth, this is not the one to use.

    I've had mine two years.
    Best ever.
    Warranty is the best.
Change oil and keep air filter clean

Well, this is not the one for my needs. I can say that for sure. Agree there may be a belt slipping or something needing adjustment because you can hear it when you get into the long grass, but it also may simply not have enough power for the long grass and that's kind of what a string mower does or else I would simply use a regular push mower. Needs more horsepower.

same problem here, no throttle adjustment, not enough ponies to cut clover, going back to atwoods!

I saw these on the internet for Eighty dollars and had to watch a review first wondering why so cheap...will it cut thick areas of weeds??

I am not sure why it is so cheap, but I bought two. One is for my heavy heavy brush, and the other I keep in pristine condition to mow my lawn. The thing is a little beast to getting in and cutting trees. I first, ought it to cut through and make sure the area was clear to take my lawn tractor, and it is well worth the money

Sounds like your belt might be slipping a little which will cause it to not cut properly

    The belt is notched .
    Slipping is tall grass binding.
You need to cut from the left continuously to prevent 2-3 ft grass from clogging.
I lower it down like a helicopter...
