Had a low content wolf dog. Would pause before following any command as if he was thinking to himself, "something tells me I don't have to do what you say, but I can't quite remember what it is. So... ok." He was a very good boy.
I have one, she hesitates every time I open the car door for her, she's 8 now, plays for time by sitting down and scratching herself as if she's thinking shall I or shan't I!
I had 2. Sonja and Brutus. Sister and brother. They are standoffish if they didn't know you. They became very attached to my wife and myself. Quite large. The male, Brutus was larger than my male Malamute, Atilla. They always pushed the edge of the envelope!😂 Brutus left me at 10 years old from a liver disease. Sonja left at 19 from being very old. Rest in peace kids. I'll see you soon.❤️
It took me a year, full time, to train our wolf dog. He spent 4 hours a day at the park socializing with dogs and humans. He was an incredible joy. He died of cancer.
Sorry for your loss....just lost my 5 year old wolfdog to nasal cancer...here parring has ripped a hole in my soul and the soul of her dad who is totally lost without his daughter
I bought a wolf dog as a pup, everything she pointed out we have experienced. She is eight years old now. She is independent, she runs her own show. She is very loving, sweet but loves her alone time. She is very smart and understands and communicates very well with us. She has settled down with age, as a pup she was a challenge. We just love this girl.

well done video. it brought back a lot of old memories of mine, Wolfer. when she wanted attention you couldn't push her away, but 5 minutes later she would get up and walk away when she had her fill of attention. when strangers came over, she was on the opposite side of the room/yard, or hiding behind my legs. when she was young and clearly a beta, she would greet other dogs (of all sizes) by laying down, crawling up to them then rolling over to piss on herself. as she became older, she promoted herself to the alpha female of our little pack, she was friendly around other male dogs, but if a female came around, she would charge it, knock it over and pin it to the ground until it would give the proper passive response and respect she thought she deserved, and then all was fine. she has been gone since the early 90s, but i still have her picture next to my desk and i say hi to her every day.
Friend of mine had either a mid or high content wolfdog, I remember looking at her and thinking she was full wolf. She was so energetic and so territorial, but so gentle with my friend, like she saw my friend as her weird bald bipedal puppy
Thanks for pointing out the difference in eye color....I don't know how many people have a dog with blue eyes and claim some exaggerated percentage of Wolf Content. Such people only show ignorance of their own animal. No Wolf has Blue eyes..ever....as she said, it is a domestic Dog trait and most likely the animal has no Wolf content at all. And kudos to Georgina for expaining how it takes a life change to own a High Content Wolfdog. I own a High Content Wolfdog and your explanations of their behaviors are spot on... May not be affectionate, can get aggressive during winter, are very independent....basically Not a Dog even though people see them as a dog. Not that that's a bad thing it is just important to recognize they are a different animal, just like a Fox or Coyote is a different animal and owning such an animal is a choice one must educate themselves about first.
I have had the great privilege to have had 5 wolf dogs living with me in my home. They were amazing animals. I lost Mollie in July 2022. I miss her so very much. She was my best friend. They are very special animals, each one had peculiar traits that regular dogs just did not have. I find that I am still grief-stricken over each one of them. I had Mollie the longest. She was 14. She even slept in my bed with me. I had her spoiled.
Those of is who have had wolves.for pets are grief stricken when they pass - even years later. I tell people you take the good qualities of a dog and enhance them a thousand times and what do you get? A wolf.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It will help people put a lot of thought and consideration into their capacity to care for wolf-dogs appropriately.
Thank you for your video, I believe that I was given a wolf mix husky and he is 3 years old now. He has shown many traits of him having wolf in him. Just getting educated by you video has helped me alot
I have 50% wolfdog. She acts more like a cat. And she has proven repeatedly that she is smarter then me. She is now 13 years old, but looks like 4 years old. She doesn't act like dog except when she sees her cough. Interestingly she won't eat wild animal meat, I always joke with her that if she would live in forrest she would starv.

My Indy is a 60 percent timber wolf in her the best and smartest dog i have ever owned she is mixed with a German shepard, what i find different from my other dos is the way she walks she flicks her paws when she walks
