Would the result be the same if the dog was not muzzled? I understand the muzzle is for safety, but does it distort the result and the correction and the learnings? Could Prince give the correction if the other dog was not muzzled? Will the dog behave differently if it was not muzzled?
I LOVED that precise sequence. As they face back up, you see THE Prince has his tail STRAIGHT up, whereas Brown Dog's tail is at "Half mast", exactly like you said, communicating a "We CAN go again, bro ? ?", then immediately follows at @10:00 with a very slight lip lick, "I don't WANT to fight" and Brown dog takes a couple of seconds to THINK (key bit) then at @10:04 takes those steps back. THE Prince is a frigging AWESOME Dog !

@@NickNico719 I believe Prince could give the same correction, if not a better correction. You're right in a way. I agree with you that muzzles create a different environment but I fully believe in their purpose for such engagements as this. If Prince wasn't as grounded as he is and as spot on as he is with his corrections, I'd say no. That dog is well aware it is muzzled and it will distort the result, of course it will because it will change the dogs behaviour... But this isn't about making Prince look tough. The muzzle, Prince's exact temperament and training is the best combination this dog could ask for to help him get over his pushy nature. Yes he is a strong dog and muzzle off prince would struggle with him, but there are bigger badder dogs out there that he could do that to in the future who won't be like Prince and won't be as willing to be as cordial afterwards.

I'm just 3 weeks into the program, and it's really great! I never realized that teaching dogs things at certain ages is so important..... I was asking a lot of my pup that she wasn't mature enough to handle.
Prince does so much that people can learn from. He works hard and constantly has to deal with idiots harassing him. Then he shows the strength to stand up for himself and once it's settled, he doesn't hold a grudge. The white dog is also an angel, so kind despite being treated roughly. This example also shows the problems that arise, when dogs don't get experience and tasks.
One of the best dog trainers on yt. People fail to understand that these are animals and sometimes need to be dealt with how they would in a real pack of wild dogs. Shoutout to Prince
I’m glad you aren’t scared to tell the owner your dog needs to be checked by a more dominant or controlled dog. Prince doesn’t want to fight either, but he will not back away to make it clear he’s not a pushover. Keep it up. 🎉
The best part is that Prince was correcting. He wasn't out to hurt the other dog. He just made sure to tell the other dog it's behavior was unacceptable. Beautiful results.
I hate how it takes a big do with muscle for people to admit that this type of balanced no-nonsense approach is essential when correcting over-the-top behaviors. I have met some Frenchies just like boy who are not aggressive but they are "jerks" who do not have any respect for other dogs' boundaries but the owners allow it because they are small. Wish more people out there would see these videos and realize that a jerky dog, even if they are not aggressive, is not something that should be tolerated regardless of size. Thank you so much for having a great working dog like Prince and helping people in these types of situations!

My American Bulldog mix is just like this big guy, wanting to use her muscle strength to bully her way through life. I didn’t have Beckman videos in my life ten years ago so I spent time on the struggle bus figuring it out. We would have benefited greatly if I’d had help like this. @@AnaamSings I did get it sorted but it probably took three or more times as long as it should have had I had a guide like Joel to reference. Several trainers I spoke with had differing opinions but none seemed to adequately address what I saw as her main issue, which was dominance. So I got to work on the basics providing structure and consistency, much like I would with dominant horses, and made good progress. She’s a wonderful dog now, and generally well mannered but the tough bulldog is always just below the surface so it keeps me on my toes. No slacking from me means good behavior from her.
I've got a great dane with a personality similar to this guy, it took a lot of intense socializing. It absolutely took push back from other bigger dogs for my guy to understand.

My Boxer/Staff cross was just like him and now due to following Beckman's methods, he is 95% improved. He can sometimes slip back into old behaviour from his unknown previous history and most other dogs pick up the 'Bad' vibes from him and back away, but after few corrections of 'The stare' he does, he changes and I can get him and other dogs to meet. He still tries to be too forceful but about six weeks ago, he got his first correction from a female big dog, who snapped at him for his forceful behaviour and caught his nose. This was the first time he has backed away from a dog and since then he is now even better with other dogs I noticed. Great video Beckman.
Not only this specific issue but Joel has helped me remove about 95% of all the unwanted behaviors in my dogs following his whore range of methods. I direct so many ppl here when they tell me about their dog problems. They’ve all reported major improvements. Joel you are invaluable to this world!

I totally understand this. My shepard has experienced these types of lessons and is now canine respectful at the dog park. The other dog taught him. I get it.
Brown dog looks like a Ridgeback - Boerboel ( or Boxer.. ) cross of sort. More ridgeback in him. Ridgeback attitude as well - no aggression but fearless with pushy attitude. Working lines of ridgebacks in South Africa are like that. Thank you Joel for helping him.
I started watching this channel bc it had a pretty doberman🥺🥺 but I stayed bc I feel like I’m actually learning how to be the best dog owners/trainer when I’m ready to get my own dobie🫶🫶🫶 I like the no nonsense attitude Beckman trains dogs with, I wish it was more common during my teenage years so I could have gotten proper info about how to train my current dog now😭😭

I’ve had Dobermans since 1984. Currently I have two. Once you have one, not sure how you would own another breed. They can do everything. So good with small children, kids, family and other dogs. Extremely athletic with lots of personality. Expect to spend a lot of time with them as they are Velcro dogs. You do need to be an alpha with a Doberman because of how smart they are. Such a great breed.
Maybe you should try looking over the horizon. Dobermanns derive from Beauceron, in my opinion a much better and more impressive breed. Also dobermans have (as any other dog breed) got nothing on the greyhound in athleticism.

Brilliant video - I used Joel's methods for stopping my two male dogs fighting. It was not easy, but we now have two large male dogs, living in harmony, after what I can only describe as a nightmare situation. Thank you Joel!
I absolutely am loving your videos and I'm going to help one of my friends with his bulldog and I have to tell you I did this with a boxer it worked out so good I just call it rude doggies that don't get a lot of interaction they're just rude I love the word rude because it doesn't make you angry it lets you know it's not personal you are just rude so if you want to use that feel free. I have 2 bull terriers who both need slow introductions and some push back from other dogs to calm them and keep them in check. They are both strong, determined and a bit "too much". I so related to how the brown dog kept trying to push through Joel's leg. That's a dog(like mine)who's a force but needs a counterbalance to get them to stop and think differently. This kind of video reminds me that not everyone can be a trainer. You've gotta have wisdom about what's behind the behavior and more stubbornness than the dog. Great teaching moments!!
I just had to deal with a horrible experience at a dog park and the owner took zero responsibilty for her dogs and even thought it was funny to bully the victims afterward. I get if you dont understand how to handle the dog you have, but then it's your responsibility to keep them under control and keep others safe if you have this type of dog. I have a really good dog that loves other dogs and I have had so many good dog park experiences, its so unfair when we have to leave while the problem people and dogs get to stay because we are worried for our safety. I have to really appreciate the owner for taking responsibilty for their dog and doing what they can to get their dog help and keep others safe. Then I have to thank you, Joel, tremendously for helping people with dogs like this.

I could watch you all day long. I'm a long-time owner of boxers, 54 years old. I've learned to read body language very well. Male boxers can be such jerks. I also own a dog transport business, so it's always good to learn new tricks. I love to learn new ways of dealing with my dogs and transport dogs. I wish I could afford to do your classes for professional dog trainer at this time. It's easy sometimes to forget how much progress you made. I see this dog and he reminds me so much of Diesel when I got him 3 years ago. "He's not aggressive, but he can be aggressive." And overpowering and dominant and just way too much. Though this dog is much more jerky than him. The leash was such a big factor in that, _as well as pent up energy,_ so I went to the woods where he could be off leash as much as possible. I used your method of mark and go get when he ran up to dogs inappropriately, and within weeks he knew how to behave properly. But only off leash. On leash took until I finally had someone to train with a few months ago. Which was hard to find because people saw my totally overpowering and way too energetic dog try to run up to their dog and of course they would walk away. But when I finally got three sessions in, he got 95% better. If you have a dog like this, find someone with a helper dog as soon as possible. You'll only be able to train it by practicing. And thank you Joel for your methods, they were game changing.
This was an incredible video. Even though that "fight" took place in a controlled environment and no dogs or humans were in danger, it doesn't make it any easier to watch. When Joel said sessions like this one takes years off his life, it reminded me how important it is to find a true, professional dog trainer. Joel is one of the select few that's built for these moments. This session is not for the faint of heart and without someone like Joel there this could have gotten really bad. Amazing video and thanks again for showing the world what being the top 1 percent of dog trainers looks like.
Your advice enabled me to properly handle my hard-to-train, intact and dominant male dog with love, respect and the appropriate counter-force. My dog does not fear, but respect me as a leader, because I impress him with skills, experience, great adventures, emotional stability, predictability and the ability to put up force when needed.
Truly in awe of Prince, he's in his prime athletically and in experience and protects home field advantage in such a bold and beautiful way. Credit to you and the structure too sir (!)
My dog meeting other dogs,cats and chickens need meetings like that is so important, i bet there are so many people out there who want to keep thier dogs away from the world, dogs know dogs and its a good way to make friends while walking. This dog has the exact same personality as my Rottie. It's not aggression, just very in-other-dogs faces that, obviously so given his size, makes other dogs uncomfortable. It does make me sad for him because that results in him not having many pup friends. On the bright side, this video gave so much insight into understanding & managing him better!

Ah Ha!! I have finally found something which is close to the way my German Shepherd is, not aggressive, but totally socially inappropriate and too intense....This video is packed full of things that confirm which direction I need to take, and some of which I am already doing, luckily I know someone with a German Shepherd that wont stand for my guys nonsense, hes already had corrections from this dog, and he's improved a lot, but I might need to fine tune what I am doing and get him with more dogs that can deal with his intensity and will correct him.... Thank you for these videos, they are so valuable...
That's a good dog owner right there. Wants the best for his dog (long term) in spite of it being a hard lesson for his dog. Good lookin' dog there too. Prince did a very good job of standing his ground too.

Had this dog ever been to dog parks Or day care? He has such a forceful approach to interaction, he surely has the boldness and energy level to show his confidence. His personality shows that he isn’t deterred by dog authority, only human. He needs to respect both to become balanced. I just got a puppy and rewatching all your training videos are so helpful! Thank you!!! You said it took you 20 minutes to know he was just being a jerk vs under socialized or fear based. Could you explain that? My friends dog acts this way. Pit bull. I finally got him to walk using all your stuff. It was amazing. When I correct him during his crazy barking at other dogs, sometimes he turns his crazy bark to me for one or two barks and for a second...my heart stops hoping he doesn't come at me. He never has tho. Hes 7 years old. Huge jerk meeting other dogs. Thank you!

My dog is only 9 months old and is a full on at the other dog to play but he is way too much for some dogs. He goes to daycare once a week coz of work and they think he’s amazing, so do I ,but he’s not on lead amd knows the other dogs. We are still very much in training. He ways 22kg and I am 51kg so he is strong. This video was a great help because I am using voice and strength.
Love dogs and have helped on occasion when walking my dog and another dog comes along with their owner and has an issue with meeting my dog . I need to make a decision on what my next life oath should be and maybe learning more about canine behavior and building a sanctuary for owners and their dogs along with a rescue shelter is my next move . Really can see your approach is to just observe the dogs and let them slowly unlearn bad behavior by seeing what they are saying and doing with each other . You have a great sense about dogs and I think they pick that up . Will watch more of your videos and learn more , thanks .

@@MrHardhead2 we keep our distance with doggos that Tobee doesn't like. Most dogs that don't like him, Tobee feels the same way. I am able to tell long before we meet them if Tobee is down to play or fight.
I respect you as a person and a professional, I also agree with and love your tailored approach to each individual dog. The knowledge behind the behaviour coupled with the fantastic training of, and generally, how well grounded, and confident Prince is, is the perfect combination to help dogs( like this one ) become better dogs. I feel like your methods get down to the nitty gritty of things, and although you don't anthropomorphise dogs and their behaviour... You understand that behaviour and requisite corrections require the same approach regardless of species. Aggression understands aggression, strength understands strength and so on. Such as your explanation concerning the Malamute. I don't agree with this new age treat nonsense..... when it comes to full on physical, sometimes you have to meet fire with fire before there is an understanding. I will say there was some behaviour that I noticed there after the initial reaction with Prince, firstly I think the muzzle( as much as I understand its purpose ) is playing a part in the de-escalation from the brown dogs part, I think it is fully aware of the limitations it has, as per the muzzle and is therefore not as willing to enter into something physical with Prince, I say that simply due to the behaviour we see afterwards, the rolling on the ground, he appears to be "playing" but I think on closer inspection he's actually trying to get the muzzle off. Having said that I'm all for it. Since Prince's temperament and nature is placid but firm and respectful he is the perfect dog to apply the right correction for the other dog not to be harmed and in turn the muzzle creates the environment where the other dog's nervous energy doesn't allow the confrontation to escalate beyond a correction. I feel like for this dog to fully respect another's space he will need more corrections going forward. It's a learning curve, but none the less, eventually it will have the desired effect.
I love watching these videos. My dog is a 60 pound Amstaff. When we are outside on leash, and he see's another dog, he whines, barks, stares and lounges at the other dog. I don't think its because of aggression, he's met dogs through fences and he just wags his tail and doesn't growl or bark or anything like that. I've been trying to train him to behave around other dogs, but it's not working. I have a gentle leader for him, which does help, but it doesn't stop him from lounging at other dogs. I give him treats whenever he looks at me, and not the other dog, try to make him sit/lay down but it's not a permanent fix.
Hi there. Your videos help me out so much, I love your logic and methods. I just adopted a Siberian husky female about 3 weeks ago and am currently working on this same bully like behaviour with our dog , he is a black lab husky mix unfixed. She is testing her boundaries currently and will fight him when food is around or when we are all in the same room. We do push her back & her let her know who is boss , I am working on the clapping and walking up to her when I see it starting. Our black lab will put up with it for a little then he pushes back at her, my question is do we just let them sort it out every time or is there a time to step in if it gets out of hand?

Hi from Sydney AUSTRALIA - I was employed by a 72 yr old lady with a boxer cross (male) with this exact approach, The dog was sold on Craig's list and was perfect until other dogs came in the area . He was more dominant with my trainer dog of equal size and started the usual bully boy blocking tactics ( no Muzzle) All corrections were clear and NUKE like - very athletic dog. - so nothing but physical corrections to match more than his strength CLEAR /CONSISTENT / CONTINUING / COUNTER CONDITIONING . NO TREATS IN THIS YARD The intense visual imbalance creates a run up like behaviour , which most dogs obviously don't like in there face - As J.B says - it takes yrs off your short life- Alfie was off leash in a beach dog park after the session - but with one minor incident as the other dog looked like a rabbit.

My American Bulldog mix is just like this big guy, wanting to use her muscle strength to bully her way through life. I didn’t have Beckman videos in my life ten years ago so I spent time on the struggle bus figuring it out. We would have benefited greatly if I’d had help like this. @@AnaamSings I did get it sorted but it probably took three or more times as long as it should have had I had a guide like Joel to reference. Several trainers I spoke with had differing opinions but none seemed to adequately address what I saw as her main issue, which was dominance. So I got to work on the basics providing structure and consistency, much like I would with dominant horses, and made good progress. She’s a wonderful dog now, and generally well mannered but the tough bulldog is always just below the surface so it keeps me on my toes. No slacking from me means good behavior from her.

I've got a great dane with a personality similar to this guy, it took a lot of intense socializing. It absolutely took push back from other bigger dogs for my guy to understand.

My Boxer/Staff cross was just like him and now due to following Beckman's methods, he is 95% improved. He can sometimes slip back into old behaviour from his unknown previous history and most other dogs pick up the 'Bad' vibes from him and back away, but after few corrections of 'The stare' he does, he changes and I can get him and other dogs to meet.
He still tries to be too forceful but about six weeks ago, he got his first correction from a female big dog, who snapped at him for his forceful behaviour and caught his nose. This was the first time he has backed away from a dog and since then he is now even better with other dogs I noticed. Great video Beckman.
Not only this specific issue but Joel has helped me remove about 95% of all the unwanted behaviors in my dogs following his whore range of methods. I direct so many ppl here when they tell me about their dog problems. They’ve all reported major improvements. Joel you are invaluable to this world!
@@jlm3619 Same here, I refer dog walkers who are struggling with their dog to this channel. Some don't even realise how bad their dogs behaviour is, until I explain it to them and recommend this channel. Joel's methods work fantastic with dogs and get the desired results.

I totally understand this. My shepard has experienced these types of lessons and is now canine respectful at the dog park. The other dog taught him. I get it.
Brown dog looks like a Ridgeback - Boerboel ( or Boxer.. ) cross of sort. More ridgeback in him. Ridgeback attitude as well - no aggression but fearless with pushy attitude. Working lines of ridgebacks in South Africa are like that.

I’ve had Dobermans since 1984. Currently I have two. Once you have one, not sure how you would own another breed. They can do everything. So good with small children, kids, family and other dogs. Extremely athletic with lots of personality. Expect to spend a lot of time with them as they are Velcro dogs. You do need to be an alpha with a Doberman because of how smart they are. Such a great breed.
Maybe you should try looking over the horizon. Dobermanns derive from Beauceron, in my opinion a much better and more impressive breed. Also dobermans have (as any other dog breed) got nothing on the greyhound in athleticism.

Brilliant video - I used Joel's methods for stopping my two male dogs fighting. It was not easy, but we now have two large male dogs, living in harmony, after what I can only describe as a nightmare situation. Thank you Joel!

I have 2 bull terriers who both need slow introductions and some push back from other dogs to calm them and keep them in check. They are both strong, determined and a bit "too much". I so related to how the brown dog kept trying to push through Joel's leg. That's a dog(like mine)who's a force but needs a counterbalance to get them to stop and think differently.
This kind of video reminds me that not everyone can be a trainer. You've gotta have wisdom about what's behind the behavior and more stubbornness than the dog. Great teaching moments!!
I just had to deal with a horrible experience at a dog park and the owner took zero responsibilty for her dogs and even thought it was funny to bully the victims afterward.
I get if you dont understand how to handle the dog you have, but then it's your responsibility to keep them under control and keep others safe if you have this type of dog.
I have a really good dog that loves other dogs and I have had so many good dog park experiences, its so unfair when we have to leave while the problem people and dogs get to stay because we are worried for our safety.
I have to really appreciate the owner for taking responsibilty for their dog and doing what they can to get their dog help and keep others safe. Then I have to thank you, Joel, tremendously for helping people with dogs like this.

I could watch you all day long. I'm a long-time owner of boxers, 54 years old. I've learned to read body language very well. Male boxers can be such jerks. I also own a dog transport business, so it's always good to learn new tricks. I love to learn new ways of dealing with my dogs and transport dogs. I wish I could afford to do your classes for professional dog trainer at this time. But for now, I will continue to watch and learn from you, I always send ppl to your page to watch and learn about training their own dogs. Thank you so very much.
It's easy sometimes to forget how much progress you made. I see this dog and he reminds me so much of Diesel when I got him 3 years ago. "He's not aggressive, but he can be aggressive." And overpowering and dominant and just way too much. Though this dog is much more jerky than him. The leash was such a big factor in that, _as well as pent up energy,_ so I went to the woods where he could be off leash as much as possible. I used your method of mark and go get when he ran up to dogs inappropriately, and within weeks he knew how to behave properly. But only off leash.
On leash took until I finally had someone to train with a few months ago. Which was hard to find because people saw my totally overpowering and way too energetic dog try to run up to their dog and of course they would walk away. But when I finally got three sessions in, he got 95% better.
If you have a dog like this, find someone with a helper dog as soon as possible. You'll only be able to train it by practicing. And thank you Joel for your methods, they were game changing.
This was an incredible video. Even though that "fight" took place in a controlled environment and no dogs or humans were in danger, it doesn't make it any easier to watch. When Joel said sessions like this one takes years off his life, it reminded me how important it is to find a true, professional dog trainer. Joel is one of the select few that's built for these moments. This session is not for the faint of heart and without someone like Joel there this could have gotten really bad. Amazing video and thanks again for showing the world what being the top 1 percent of dog trainers looks like.
Your advice enabled me to properly handle my hard-to-train, intact and dominant male dog with love, respect and the appropriate counter-force. My dog does not fear, but respect me as a leader, because I impress him with skills, experience, great adventures, emotional stability, predictability and the ability to put up force when needed.

My dog meeting other dogs,cats and chickens need meetings like that is so important, i bet there are so many people out there who want to keep thier dogs away from the world, dogs know dogs and its a good way to make friends while walking. This dog has the exact same personality as my Rottie. It's not aggression, just very in-other-dogs faces that, obviously so given his size, makes other dogs uncomfortable. It does make me sad for him because that results in him not having many pup friends. On the bright side, this video gave so much insight into understanding & managing him better!

I have finally found something which is close to the way my German Shepherd is, not aggressive, but totally socially inappropriate and too intense....This video is packed full of things that confirm which direction I need to take, and some of which I am already doing, luckily I know someone with a German Shepherd that wont stand for my guys nonsense, hes already had corrections from this dog, and he's improved a lot, but I might need to fine tune what I am doing and get him with more dogs that can deal with his intensity and will correct him....

You said it took you 20 minutes to know he was just being a jerk vs under socialized or fear based. Could you explain that? My friends dog acts this way. Pit bull. I finally got him to walk using all your stuff. It was amazing. When I correct him during his crazy barking at other dogs, sometimes he turns his crazy bark to me for one or two barks and for a second...my heart stops hoping he doesn't come at me. He never has tho. Hes 7 years old. Huge jerk meeting other dogs. Thank you!

My dog is only 9 months old and is a full on at the other dog to play but he is way too much for some dogs. He goes to daycare once a week coz of work and they think he’s amazing, so do I ,but he’s not on lead amd knows the other dogs. We are still very much in training. He ways 22kg and I am 51kg so he is strong. This video was a great help because I am using voice and strength.

Love dogs and have helped on occasion when walking my dog and another dog comes along with their owner and has an issue with meeting my dog . I need to make a decision on what my next life oath should be and maybe learning more about canine behavior and building a sanctuary for owners and their dogs along with a rescue shelter is my next move . Really can see your approach is to just observe the dogs and let them slowly unlearn bad behavior by seeing what they are saying and doing with each other . You have a great sense about dogs and I think they pick that up . Will watch more of your videos and learn more , thanks .

@@MrHardhead2 we keep our distance with doggos that Tobee doesn't like. Most dogs that don't like him, Tobee feels the same way. I am able to tell long before we meet them if Tobee is down to play or fight.

I respect you as a person and a professional, I also agree with and love your tailored approach to each individual dog. The knowledge behind the behaviour coupled with the fantastic training of, and generally, how well grounded, and confident Prince is, is the perfect combination to help dogs( like this one ) become better dogs. I feel like your methods get down to the nitty gritty of things, and although you don't anthropomorphise dogs and their behaviour... You understand that behaviour and requisite corrections require the same approach regardless of species. Aggression understands aggression, strength understands strength and so on. Such as your explanation concerning the Malamute.
I don't agree with this new age treat nonsense..... when it comes to full on physical, sometimes you have to meet fire with fire before there is an understanding. I will say there was some behaviour that I noticed there after the initial reaction with Prince, firstly I think the muzzle( as much as I understand its purpose ) is playing a part in the de-escalation from the brown dogs part, I think it is fully aware of the limitations it has, as per the muzzle and is therefore not as willing to enter into something physical with Prince, I say that simply due to the behaviour we see afterwards, the rolling on the ground, he appears to be "playing" but I think on closer inspection he's actually trying to get the muzzle off.
Having said that I'm all for it. Since Prince's temperament and nature is placid but firm and respectful he is the perfect dog to apply the right correction for the other dog not to be harmed and in turn the muzzle creates the environment where the other dog's nervous energy doesn't allow the confrontation to escalate beyond a correction. I feel like for this dog to fully respect another's space he will need more corrections going forward. It's a learning curve, but none the less, eventually it will have the desired effect.

My dog is a 60 pound Amstaff. When we are outside on leash, and he see's another dog, he whines, barks, stares and lounges at the other dog. I don't think its because of aggression, he's met dogs through fences and he just wags his tail and doesn't growl or bark or anything like that. I've been trying to train him to behave around other dogs, but it's not working. I have a gentle leader for him, which does help, but it doesn't stop him from lounging at other dogs. I give him treats whenever he looks at me, and not the other dog, try to make him sit/lay down but it's not a permanent fix.
Hi there. Your videos help me out so much, I love your logic and methods. I just adopted a Siberian husky female about 3 weeks ago and am currently working on this same bully like behaviour with our dog , he is a black lab husky mix unfixed. She is testing her boundaries currently and will fight him when food is around or when we are all in the same room. We do push her back & her let her know who is boss , I am working on the clapping and walking up to her when I see it starting. Our black lab will put up with it for a little then he pushes back at her, my question is do we just let them sort it out every time or is there a time to step in if it gets out of hand?

Hi from Sydney AUSTRALIA - I was employed by a 72 yr old lady with a boxer cross (male) with this exact approach, The dog was sold on Craig's list and was perfect until other dogs came in the area . He was more dominant with my trainer dog of equal size and started the usual bully boy blocking tactics ( no Muzzle) All corrections were clear and NUKE like - very athletic dog. - so nothing but physical corrections to match more than his strength CLEAR /CONSISTENT / CONTINUING / COUNTER CONDITIONING . NO TREATS IN THIS YARD The intense visual imbalance creates a run up like behaviour , which most dogs obviously don't like in there face - As J.B says - it takes yrs off your short life- Alfie was off leash in a beach dog park after the session - but with one minor incident as the other dog looked like a rabbit.
