I had the pleasure of working with her for 3 years at the Boston Harbor Hotel before she found her fame. I remember our last conversation in the elevator telling me about her new agent and making her first CD. way to go girlfriend !!!!
÷Dominique I CONCUR! I"m thinking folks gotta have small minds OR watch too much Championship Wrestling to dig there's room for every one and they are Artists NOT competitors.
I agree, pain ,suffering and despair created this amazing genre . Juke joint and so many hidden places allowed the creators to master and spread their music . 🙏 ❤️
No need to make any comparison with Frank Sinatra because this is an outstanding interpretation of "Fly Me To The Moon" by Diana who truly makes the song her own ... Her skills on piano are immense ... Also a fantastic double-bass performance by John Clayton ... Diana and John sound great together.
Robin Chase, absolutely! If the Sony Walkman had already been invented back then I bet Neil would have had it in his space suit, making a bigger step for mankind on the lunar surface to this magnificent tribute. 😉
Martiens Blignaut Oh¡ Yes indeed.....that dude and also that lady singuing a bit of scat: sodobodá bisuduhbá...! They are taking way to reach 9.000.000 of visualizations...In a few time they can already opt for to be governors and repair a little the United State...if she isn't arrest at the frontier...
This is the best performance of this song I have ever heard, and I am old, so I have heard lots of them. Such a great groove, and with only two of them. Bravo!
Now that's what I call music. It's nice to see a female musician playing jazz like this... my grandpa is Dave Brubeck, so I've been brought up with jazz, this is good stuff!
From time to time, we find in "commentaries" of videos, some people thinking what I can't understand at all, specially if it fall or down on the field of our knowledges, in my case, the music. I'm a professional of music and also a normal teacher of Harmony and Musical Analysis in a Spanish school, near Madrid. The november 9 of this year, 2015, there was a critic commentary to Diana Krall, that I seem it don't made with objetivity and equanimity or even-tempered. He say, the autor of critic, , that Diana have not comparative whith Shirley Horn... Of course! Shirley is a languide singer and delicate pinistic and Diana too with her brasilian repertories, but biside of this, a locomotive in swing tempos, as this version (3:07) of Flay Me To The Moon, with John Clayton, base, and more than 8.000.000 visualizations...(!!!), neither Nina Simon, the sentimental amateur singer and pianist that knew not much more that blues world, indeed well assumed... nor Elaine Elias present singer that because her modern style has loss the brasilian musicallity and also the pianistics harmonies of bossa guitarist on the lef hand and the right one, it is only a pile of rapid scales at 100 notes by second, without any signification. She is so insipid like Larry Coryell, another 100 per second... And finally, the mention of Carmen Mcgrey is the only reference what Diana should have bend down before the singer, but not the pianist, of technique over-taken. About dinamic of pedal and finger mecanic, the judg-ment read, only may come from, perhaps, a clasical musicien that he don't unlike or not distinguish the jazz school from the clasical one. Sorry, but I must to say, that he is, very, very mistaken.
no one compares to Frank Sinatras version, just like no one compares to Nat King Coles version, but this is not a Frank Sinatra Classic version, this is a Jazz version... Tony Bennett sings this upbeat too... and that happens to be my favorite... the beauty of the classics is that many great artists have amazing renditions of those classics.... this is just one of them... pick the one that suits your mood and enjoy... people who compare one version to the other are just not in the right spot at the right time... thanks for this... I already knew it but thanks for posting for me to enjoy.... cheers.
Sorry. but I´´m not in agreement with that of make comparations it´is no well done... It will depend always on knowledges, analysis capacity and over al,l own sensibility. If we can not to do comparisons, we cann´t to know the hierarchy of arts,of philosophies, of wisdoms, of saintliness... his categories... his orders... Another thing is how to place all this categories... Although yes, indeed, may be stand, very very wrongly... Yes, be sure, anyone may to do comparisions... under his responsabity. Greetings and All the Best for Everybody
Gracias.
I appreciate her style, interpretation, and the talent she always brings to her style & performances. I never compare artist to artist but appreciate the "individual"
My goodness, Diana Krall you are a MACHINE! Incredible chops, and such tasteful and inspiring moves! I wish I could do it like that!!!!! Nat King Cole would be jivin' to have seen this...
@candshann First time I listened to Diana Krall I could not stand her voice. Listened again at another time and now I can't get enough. Beautiful woman with a beautiful voice
Dianna Krall is Billy, Ella, Frank, Tony, and the Count all rolled into one package voice, then through in beautiy, and amazing talent. You have one hellava muisicsal feast which I hope we can contniue to enjoy for many years to come!
This is a superb rendition which demonstrates that the 'new jazz' is simply the 'old jazz' in disguise. Whether you like Diana's or Frank's version more, I think most listeners would agree that they both have the same wonderful swing and feel, it's just different decades.
Incredible musician. Such a sexy voice full of passion and sensuality. I love hearing her sing as I have never enjoyed any one so much. And I'm an old lady of 74, lest you think I'm a male fan. She's just incredible.
Well not only is Diana a wonderful talent, but she is a wonderful person as well. I have the honor of knowing Diana and her husband Elvis and bot h are great people.
You can tell her talent but you can also tell how she matured within the years. I am positive she would play it differently these days. But never the less great swing and so flowing.
She had to laugh when she looked back and caught the big grin on Clayton's face. He knew he was participating in musical HISTORY. An all he had ta do is sit back and strum the bass. Superb jazz. Great, great piano riffs.
I had the pleasure of working with her for 3 years at the Boston Harbor Hotel before she found her fame. I remember our last conversation in the elevator telling me about her new agent and making her first CD. way to go girlfriend !!!!
John Clayton is an amazing addition to an already great song. What a fantastic bass line
I really enjoy her tone of voice, she has got CLASS.

Great talent on the piano and amazing jazz singer.
Fashion Salisbury OOO
Fashion Salisbury old
and why does everyone keep comparing her to other female jazz musicians?? Diana Krall is a jazz musician full stop
÷Dominique I CONCUR! I"m thinking folks gotta have small minds OR watch too much Championship Wrestling to dig there's room for every one and they are Artists NOT competitors.
Already she were compared with oneanother singer in this same link. Look for the depth of the channel ad you'll find it.
I think jazz is the most underated music art form but also the most purest of them all.
I agree, pain ,suffering and despair created this amazing genre . Juke joint and so many hidden places allowed the creators to master and spread their music . 🙏 ❤️
It is America's Classical Music.
Seeing Diana LIVE is wonderful..I could sit and listen for hours :) ...and don't forget Anthony Wilson her guitarist..Fabulous!
Frank waould have flied and joined in...that would have been EPIC.
Indeed,.. she plays piano incredibly amazing,... Her fingers are gorgeous,...the bass also great..
Robin Chase, absolutely!
If the Sony Walkman had already been invented back then I bet Neil would have had it in his space suit, making a bigger step for mankind on the lunar surface to this magnificent tribute. 😉

A great version of this song. Krall's piano playing is very light and fluid. She was right in with the music, feeling good, and having a great time!!
Now that's what I call music. It's nice to see a female musician playing jazz like this... my grandpa is Dave Brubeck, so I've been brought up with jazz, this is good stuff!
Your Grandpa is Dave Brubeck ??
Es una artista de gran calidad, voz carisma y maestría

If you did not comment upon it no one would notice, so just ignore it. Those people have just as much right to their opinion as you do to yours.

Gord Merritt Frank's version is overrated honestly. Brenda Lee sung it better if not best. But that's only my opinion :P
She is such an amazing and entertaining performer. I just love her voice and arrangements. Such a gifted lady.
Thank You.
Her piano playing is PHENOMINAL!! AND her voice is just so "JAZZY"
John Clayton's also just sets the mood on his double bass

I love this version. And love the bass playing
She bluesed it up so much so such that tthe original melody and spirit of the music is all but gone and just a footnote.
I appreciate her style, interpretation, and the talent she always brings to her style & performances. I never compare artist to artist but appreciate the "individual"
